GREAT START!!
OLOS School is off to a great beginning this year. It seems like everyone is settled in and ready to LEARN!! A special welcome to all new students and families to Our Lady of the Snows School!

HELP NEEDED:
SUBS NEEDED AT OLOS SCHOOL: 60 college hours required. Please think of anyone you know who might be interested and let them know about this opportunity. We have very limited substitute help. Please contact Mrs. Werdehausen for more information.

VOLLEYBALL COACH:  Volleyball coach needed for younger 4th – 6th grade team. Coach must have Virtus training (2 upcoming trainings offered in Jefferson City) and submit a background check. If interested and for more information, please call the school office or our athletic director, Mr. Vandike, directly @ (573) 619-6189.

LIBRARY HELP: We are in need of a library helper on Tuesdays to help Christina read to the students. Please call the office if you would like to volunteer.

FIELD TRIP COMMITTEE: Are you interested in serving on a committee to help plan field trips for this school year? Please contact Ashley Burnett or the school office with your offer to help.

NEW SCHOOL POLICY: Along with the entire handbook, please read the new policy DSP 1810 on page 25 of your handbook, which can be found in today’s folder. It is highlighted for your convenience. PLEASE SIGN & RETURN THE ENCLOSED SIGN-OFF ON MONDAY!

MEDICATION AT SCHOOL: We do not have a “stock supply” of medications for students. You may choose to send in a pain reliever or other types of medicine for your child. Make sure to clearly mark the container(s), and send a note giving staff permission to dispense the medication, with explicit dosage instructions. Sometimes having medicine available here for your child can mean not having to come after him/her or making a special trip to bring
medications.

SCHOOL SPIRIT DAY: Wednesday is our first “School Spirit Day”. On these designated days, the students may wear the official school spirit T-shirt in lieu of the regular collared shirt.

EXTENDED CARE SERVICES: In the event of inclement weather, or early dismissal due to unforeseen circumstances, there will be NO EXTENDED CARE SERVICES available. All students should be picked up at the dismissal time which would be announced with the dismissal notification. On regularly scheduled half days off (listed on school calendar), extended care is available from 12:00 – 5:30 pm.

$$$ EARNED!!!
Over the summer, OLOS School received $120 through the Best Choice UPC label program. We also received $149 through the Cartridge program. See below for more information on how easy it is to help the school out through your purchases. Thanks to all who clip and save for the school!

SAVE, SAVE, SAVE.
-Save any used print cartridges, laser or jet, fax cartridges, etc, and send them in to school or leave in the church vestibule in the box so marked.
-Save those “Box Tops” found on many, many groceries & other misc. items – worth 10 cents each. Send to office.
-Save Best Choice UPC’s (not the label). Send to office.
-We receive premiums from Target if you choose OLOS School as the designated school on your Target RED credit card. Parents, teachers, and other school supporters use their REDcard credit card or Target check card, and Target will donate 1% of their purchases back to the designated school. To participate, all you need is a REDcard to enroll. Enroll at Target.com/tcoe or 1.800.316.6142.
-We participate in the Schnuck’s “Education is Everything” campaign. Visit www.schnucks.com and click on the eScrip Community Card link for program information. You will receive a card and you can present it every time you shop. A percentage of the purchase will be contributed back to OLOS School.
THANKS FOR ALL YOU DO FOR OLOS SCHOOL- EVERY LITTLE BIT HELPS!
PRESCHOOL PARENTS:  Unless authorized through Marie, no switching of days is allowed for part-time preschoolers. The only exceptions would be for classroom parties and field trips.

HOMEWORK can only be picked up between 3:00 and 3:15 each day for students who have been absent. Requests can be made to send work home with siblings or others. Please specifically request homework when calling in your child’s absence if you so prefer. Some parents prefer to not have the homework, especially if their child is still feeling unwell.

DEADLINE FOR FRIDAY NOTES:
Thursdays, 9:00 am. All non-school related flyers need to be copied ahead of time on paper (the school cannot afford to supply paper for outside events). Upon approval by the principal, the information will then be placed in the Friday folder as a courtesy. It is not appropriate for the school to send out extraneous information that can be handled other ways. Also, if you have items for the Friday notes, please write these items up, send them in, or email them to rosie@radiowire.net
(call to let me know you have emailed please). I don’t mind doing a little editing and rewording, but the bulk of the item should be outlined with details.

Remember to return your Friday Folder on MONDAY.
Enjoy the weekend everyone!

READING COUNTS: Remember – once your child earns the 75 point Reading Counts T-shirt, he/she may wear it at any time in lieu of their regular dress code collared shirt.
