On left, click “Student”

On left, directly under “Student Home” click “Grades”

In upper middle/left screen click “Midterm Progress Report”

If you have more than one student, you can switch between them on the upper left. Please sign the slip enclosed in today’s folder, acknowledging that you reviewed the report. It is a good idea to log in weekly to check grades.

CHRISTMAS SURVEY RESULTS: By overwhelming majority, parents have decided to keep the classroom Christmas parties at 2:30 pm on Friday, December 16th. We will still be making cookies to pass out to community members. Please see more information further in the notes and in this folder.

FOOD DRIVE UPDATE! This week the Student Council sponsored the annual food drive. All donations are being taken to the local food bank in Eugene early next week. Our school goal was 400 items; which we reached! Students will have their ice-cream party either Monday or Tuesday, Thank you so much for all your donations! Great job OLOS families!

HOME & SCHOOL OFFICERS: Congratulations to our new Home & School officers: President – Roselyn Wood, Vice-President – Jena Schwaller, Secretary – Missy Beck, and Treasurer – Cindy McKenna. We thank you so much for stepping forward with your donation of talent and time! We also want to recognize outgoing officers - Joan Doerhoff & Amy Hagenhoff – THANK YOU for a job well done! We appreciate your dedication and service to OLOS School!

SANTA STORE: We will have a “Santa Store” this year, and it is planned for Wednesday, Dec. 14th. All gift items are donated by families and community members. Students will be able to pick out gifts for 5 people free of charge! Envelopes & tags will be sent home on December 9th. Needed items include tape, wrapping paper, gift bags, small gift items for kids, moms, and dads. We so appreciate your generous donations!

MARY’S HOME CHRISTMAS PARADE: The annual parade is this upcoming Friday, November 25th and the theme is “Christmas Traditions”. Thanks to all who have signed up to ride the float and/or participate in the parade and to our coordinators for once again helping to show our school off to our community. We have much to be proud of! Thanks also to B. J. Schwaller, for the use of his shop and to Trailer Trendz, for loaning us the 22’ trailer for use in the parade. The parade begins @ 6:30 pm. All students who signed up to ride, please be at the float in the KC ballpark parking lot between 5:45 – 6:00 pm. Some students will be walking along with the float passing out cookies and some of the others on the float may be able to toss candy.  Students should wear Christmas colors. Judging will take place as the float goes by the Corner Market. If you have questions about the float and/or costumes, please contact Jena Schwaller or Joan Doerhoff.

ST. NICHOLAS ACADEMY: As our Christian service project for Christmas, OLOS School is sponsoring donations to St. Nicholas Academy, a group sponsored by Catholic Charities in Jefferson City. This organization’s mission is to partner with under-resourced families to break they cycle of poverty for young boys through supportive care and exemplary education. These young boys live in a home with a Catholic family, spending the week with them, and then are encouraged to go home on weekends, holidays, and school breaks. They all attend St. Peter Interparish School in Jefferson City. As it is our wish to support them, we will be sending out a list of needed items on Monday or Tuesday of next week. If we get the information in time, it is possible that the list may be in today’s folder.

COOKIE BAKING FOR LOCAL BUSINESSES, THE ELDERLY & SHUT-INS: The theme for our Community Service Day in December will be, very appropriately, our “Community”! In recognition of all that our community does for our school, the students will be baking and decorating cookies for local businesses and Meals on Wheels, and for the elderly, disabled, or shut-ins in our community. Students will have the opportunity to take treats home to be delivered personally to community members. There will be a list of elderly/shut-ins available for those who would like to know specifically who may be cheered up by a visit and treat from your child. We are asking for donations of items to make these treats. Please see list enclosed in today’s folder. We ask that you send in donations by Monday, December 5th. Thank you so very much!

CHRISTMAS PROGRAM NEWS: Our program is set for Sunday, Dec. 4th, after the 10:00 am OLOS School Youth Mass in church. Unless otherwise told by Mrs. Adrian, students are to wear their Sunday best/dress code. NO JEANS PLEASE! We are also asking for each family to send in TWO DOZEN homemade cookies on Friday, December 2rd, to be served after the program in the school cafeteria. Home & School & Parent Advisory officers are asked to prepare and host the refreshment portion of the morning.

SCHOOL CLOSING: Any emergency early dismissal or closing of the school will be announced by parent alert (text, email, voice) and through social media, as well as over area television stations. PARENTS SHOULD NOT CALL the school office during inclement weather conditions to learn if the school is closing early. This unnecessarily ties up our phone lines for emergency communications. A phone call into school during this time will delay the process of getting our communications out to all families. Please note that afternoon extended care services are NOT available in the event of early dismissal due to weather or other emergencies.

FANTASY NIGHT TOTAL: At the recent H & S meeting it was reported that profit from Fantasy Night was $24,620. This is fantastic! We are truly blessed!

LOOKING for somewhere to go with your leftover Halloween candy? We could use if for the parade! Please send it in on Monday or Tuesday. Thank you!

CINNAMON ROLLS: Also discussed at the H & S meeting was the idea of cinnamon roll sales, as a fundraiser for local families in need of financial assistance. It has been decided to delay that fundraiser to early March and have sales in conjunction with our School Youth Mass on March 5th. The only parent/student volunteers we may need for this project is possibly the distribution and selling after Mass.

BRRRR…IT’S COLD! Please make sure your child wears a COAT to school, as they will be outside if the temperature (or wind chill) is 32 degrees or above.
