TONIGHT - H & S MOVIE NIGHT!!!: Come one, come all!
6:30- Potluck picnic & meeting- Each family please bring a dish & blanket to sit on.  We will be having our meeting during our picnic.  Picnic/movie will be by the annex.
7:00-8:30 outdoor movie night under the stars. Bring chairs, blanket, snacks, drinks (non-alcohol please), etc. that your family would like during the movie.

FEE REMINDER:  It is school policy that students will only receive final report cards if ALL SCHOOL FEES ARE PAID IN FULL. For 8th graders, the same applies, as well as no release of records to other schools and no graduation diploma if fees are not paid in full. Included in this are lunch, preschool, extended care, book/tech, lost library or textbooks, non-returned uniforms, out of and in parish school support, etc. We will send final fee reminders on MAY 1ST.

CHANGE OF TIME! The final day of school is Thursday, May 14th, which will be a half-day, dismissing at 12:00 noon. Lunch will be served. The Awards Ceremony will begin at 10:00 am that morning (INSTEAD OF 9:30 AM) and DARE graduation for 5/6/7 graders & parents  will be at 9:00 am.

CHANGE OF MENU:  On April 28, we will serve cheeseburgers instead of the roast beef sandwich, along with lettuce, fresh veggies, and fruit. On April 30, we will serve chicken alfredo, garlic bread, broccoli, corn, & fruit.

ALL LIBRARY BOOKS should be returned by Tuesday, April 28th. If they are not returned, you will be billed $5 per book. Notices are in today’s folder if your child still has a book out.

CONGRATULATIONS to CAMERON HAEFFNER, who placed third in the 8th grade division of the Spelling Bee at St. Martin’s School on Tuesday. Way to go, Cameron! We also congratulate all participating: Jordan Bittle, Tyler Groose, Grace Groose, Macy Adrian, Sara Beck, Gracie Evers, Devin Haeffner, Kayla Bond, Gavin Wood, Tevin Groose, Emily Love, Joe Beck, Andrew Schulte & Cody Schulte. 21 Schools participated in this event.

BEEF STICKS:  We still have beef sticks left. We will not be selling them again next year. If you would like some, send a note saying how many. You can pay with cash or check to OLOS. They are $1 each. Thank you for your support!

DRESS DOWN PASSES: All remaining birthday and meeting dress down passes may be used on WEDNESDAYS – due to the fact that the remaining Fridays are all scheduled dress down days.

REMINDER TO PARENTS OF STUDENTS BRINGING LUNCHES FROM HOME:  Please see that your child’s lunch has everything they need for their meal – plates, utensils, condiments, napkins. The lunch program cannot afford to supply these things if the student is not buying the daily lunch.

8TH GRADE PARENTS: Please find & return cap/gown info. enclosed in today’s folder. Also – due to the small size of the 7th grade class and the expectation of approximately 200 guests, there have been a couple offers for assistance with food refreshments from 8th grade parents. It is much appreciated! IF you want to help out by bringing in an appetizer for the reception (or ingredients) please contact Rosie in the school office. If you call she can fill you in on what is still needed. Thank you!

TRASH BAGS: We have some rolls of white trash bags (15 gallon) for sale that are left over from last year’s fundraiser. They are $12.00 a roll.  Make checks payable to Our Lady of the Snows Parish. (We are sold out of the blue 55 gallon type.)

EXTENDED CARE: There will be extended care services offered both the morning and afternoon of the last day of school, May 14th. School will dismiss at 12:00 Noon.

GARDENING COMMITTEE:  We are asking for volunteers for the summer gardening committee. If we get enough help, families are usually assigned to two weeks during the summer to keep the watering done & to pull weeds. Please send a note to the office with your offer to help. So far, Bryan and Stacey Evers, Brittany Goetz, & Amanda Koetting have volunteered.

READING COUNTS NEWS: On Friday, May 8, 2015, the students earning 200 Reading Counts points will be enjoying a trip to Tan-Tar-A’s Timber Falls Water Park. We are departing at 8:00 am, enjoying the water park from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and returning back to school by 2:00 pm. When we return, we will enjoy recess & a snack. Sack lunches, provided by the kitchen, will be enjoyed inside the park (unless you designated otherwise, and all students normally bringing a sack lunch will need to provide their own that day as well).  THE COST WILL BE $5 PER CHILD, WHICH YOU SHOULD ATTACH TO YOUR FORMS. The charge for adults is $17 to swim & $5 to watch – but this will be paid directly by the parent at the water park. PLEASE FIND AND FILL OUT/RETURN ALL INFORMATION FOUND IN FOLDER TODAY.

READING COUNTS TRIP ATTIRE:  There will be no bikinis allowed on this trip. If your daughter chooses to wear one, they must cover with a T-shirt. Tankinis are OK, but they must cover the middle. Boys cannot wear jean shorts, they must be trunks. No rivets allowed. You may send a life jacket for your child, but Tan-tar-a will supply them as well.

FRESHMAN ORIENTATION:  Freshman Orientation at Cole
 R-5 High School is scheduled for Wednesday, April 29th, at 6:00 pm in the PAC (Performing Arts Center) and the High School gym. All incoming Freshmen and their parents need to attend this meeting.

GOLF TOURNAMENT: Please keep trying to get some new sponsors and/or teams into the tournament. This is a major fundraiser for our school & parish, so please support it as you are able.  The tournament is scheduled for Saturday, May 16, 2015. If you need additional flyers, please contact the office.
Just a reminder to all that if someone sponsors a hole in the golf tournament, the full amount is tax deductible.

PROGRESS REPORTS: Today in this folder you will find your child’s midterm report or a sign-off sheet. Students in Grades K-2 receive a mid-term report and students’ reports in Grades 3-8 are to be viewed online at www.optionc.com, with our school code – 8085 – and your individual username and password. Please sign & return the enclosed report/form on Monday. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the classroom teacher.

GERBES:  OLOS has recently enrolled in the Gerbes “Community Rewards” program. This program offers money back to our school, based on enrolled customer’s spending. It is a really easy process. You just tie your Gerbes shopper’s card to our school account. If you don’t have a Gerbes shopper’s card, it takes less than a minute to get one at the store and also online. All the information needed to complete this process online is enclosed in the folder today. It takes less than 5 minutes to tie your shopper’s card to the school account. Get all your family and friends to register as well! The school will receive quarterly payments in cash form. We will update you as we receive those funds. This has the potential to be a huge moneymaker for the school – the key is to get many, many people involved. Please pass the word and thanks for supporting OLOS School!!!

ALL PARENTS:  Please fill out the enclosed Reading Counts form, which deals with transportation. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY AND RETURN NECESSARY FORMS ON MONDAY. Thank you!

On the 23rd we will serve the chicken patties, mashed potatoes & gravy, carrots & fruit meal. On the 30th we will serve the chicken alfredo, garlic bread, broccoli, corn, & fruit meal. On April 28th, we will serve cheeseburgers instead of the roast beef sandwich, along with chips, lettuce, fresh veggies, and fruit.

EGGS & SHOES!  Many thanks to all who sent in the candy-filled eggs for the hunt and the extra “treats” for the 7/8th graders. Also, thanks to those who sent in shoes for the Shoeman Water Project. It is all much appreciated!

SPELLING BEE & 6TH GRADE VOCATION DAY field trip forms are in today’s folder. Please fill these out and return on MONDAY. Thank you!

8TH GRADE SLIDE SHOW:  Each 8th grade student needs to send in eight pictures, numbered 1-8, showcasing themselves from infant to present day. The deadline for these pictures is April 13th. The 8th graders will be taking pictures at the Capitol on April 15th.  Dress code – sleeve and short length requirements still in force for these pictures, but students may wear open-toed shoes. 8th graders should also be thinking of five songs to use during the slide show. Songs must be submitted to Mrs. Werdehausen for approval.

GRADUATE PARENTS:  Please fill out enclosed graduation reception form and return on Monday. Thank you!

SEEKING TEACHING PRINCIPAL: Our Lady of the Snows Catholic School, located in Mary's Home, MO, is seeking a teaching principal for the 2015-2016 school year.  Current PK-8 enrollment is 85 students.  Applicants must be willing to work closely with the pastor.  The qualified candidate must be a practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church, have at least 3 years teaching experience, and a Master's Degree in Education with a Principal's certificate or working towards it.  Applicants should file an application with the Diocese of Jefferson City at www.diojeffcity.org and send a letter of interest to Fr. Pat Shortt at frpjshortt@gmail.com.

REGISTRATION PACKETS:  Last week you received the registration packets for the 2015-16 school year. The forms are due back to school by Monday, April 13, 2015.  The remainder of the information is to be kept for your reference – Please keep the supply list, calendar, physical form, etc.

DRIVER NEEDED/8TH GRADE PARENTS: We are in need of a parent driver for 8th grade pictures on April 15th. We cannot send out permission forms until we have a driver. Please contact office if you are able to help out.

EGGS NEEDED! Please send in one dozen candy-filled eggs for each of your students, to be used for our annual Easter egg hunt – which we have moved to Tuesday, April 7th (a snow make-up day).  Students in grades PK – 6th will be hunting eggs, with the 7th & 8th graders hiding them. Please no candy that would melt easily – as it could be a sunny day. Also, you may remember to throw in a couple extra treats for the 7th & 8th graders, who will be working hard to hide ALL those eggs. You can send them in at any time to the classroom teacher, in a bag, marked with your child’s name. Thank you!

SHOEMAN WATER PROJECTS:  For the last few years OLOSS has been participating in this project, whereby old or unwanted shoes are turned into the school and funds are generated to drill wells in Africa. Just tie or rubber band them together, throw in a bag, and send to school. Mrs. Massman will be delivering them to Jefferson City on Friday, April 10.
GOLF TOURNAMENT UPDATE: You will find an updated flyer in today’s folder. The previous flyer stated that hole sponsorship was not tax deductible. It is tax deductible. Please use the revised copy as needed.

8th GRADE PARENTS/STUDENTS:  Luke Morris will be visiting with our 8th graders this upcoming Friday, April 10th, from 2:00 to 3:00 pm to go over the Cole R-V course catalog/classes before the Freshman Orientation on April 29th.  (This is a change of date !!!). Parents are welcome to attend.

6TH GRADE VOCATION DAY:  Parents – please attach $5 to the 6th grade Vocation Day forms you received on Wednesday evening. There is $5/per student charge for this event. If you have already sent those forms in, please send in $5 in a marked envelope. If you drive & are a parent chaperone, you DO NOT have to pay the $5 adult registration fee.   ALL FORMS & MONEY ARE DUE BY TUESDAY!!
