SANTA STORE: Many thanks to ALL who helped in any way with the store. We had many, many donations of items, time, & talent, through set – up, shopping, and take down. We are truly blessed and humbled by the generosity and support of our parish and community. God bless!

MARY’S HOME PARADE: Mary’s Home Corner Market and Evers Machine Shop are sponsoring a Christmas parade after the 5:00 pm Mass on Saturday, December 19, beginning at 6:30 pm in the KC parking lot.  Our Lady of Snows School will be represented in the parade.  The theme is “American Christmas”. Mike & Kim Evers have decorated a trailer with lights, red, white & blue bunting, and a manger scene, featuring a “living” nativity” on the float and having children riding on the float waving flags. If your child would like to ride on the float please contact Kim Evers at 573-619-6770.  Please plan to stay with your child until shortly before the parade begins, and each parent is responsible for bringing candy if there child wishes to throw candy along the route.  ...Kim Evers

ROOM PARENTS/PARTIES. Room parents – remember – we depend on you to make our classroom parties a success, planning activities and refreshments. Christmas parties are scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 22nd at 9:30 am. Thanks for your help!

GIFT EXCHANGE/PARTIES:  Students will be doing a gift exchange in the classroom at their Christmas parties on Tuesday, Dec. 22nd. Boys should buy for boys and girls buy for girls – names will not be exchanged. Gifts should be of $5 value.

BONUS DRESS DOWN DAY:  As a Christmas gift to the students, Mr. Vandike has given a Bonus Dress Down Day this Monday.

CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS CHOIR – MORE PRACTICE: There will be a final practice for the Christmas Eve Children’s Choir on Wednesday, December 23rd from 6:00 to 7:30 in the church.  Any age is welcome to attend. Please come and participate and help us make this Mass extra special.  If you have any questions, please call Nicole Lepper at 694-6634 or Stephanie Pitts at 821-6634.  The Children’s Mass is at 4:00 pm on Christmas Eve. (Christmas Mass times:  Thursday, Dec. 24, 4:00 pm & 9:00 pm, Friday, Dec. 25, 9:00 am) Thanks!

EXTENDED CARE SERVICES:  Extended care services WILL be available in the morning & afternoon of Tues., Dec. 22. The drop in fee for half days is $10. (Full & part-time regular students – fee remains $5 for half days).

ITALIAN FEAST: Please find parent letter, flyer, and tickets in today’s folder. The Christmas season is a good time to sell those tickets to friends and family!

SILENT AUCTION CLASS BASKETS: Please be on the lookout for Silent Auction items in the holiday sales at the stores.  Each family is asked to donate to their class basket and either donate an item per family or get a donation from a local business or crafty friend. You can also go together with other school families and donate bigger items as well.  Together we can make sure we continue to live up to our reputation for having an AWESOME silent auction at our Italian Feast! Classroom themes are as follows:

BASKETBALL UPDATE:  The JV girls took 4th place in the High Point Tournament on Saturday, winning one game and losing one. The JV boys took 5th place in the tournament, losing their first and winning their second. Great job, players! GO COUGARS!

SANTA STORE is this Tuesday, December 15th. Please find the tags for your child to fill out enclosed in this folder. RETURN THESE ON MONDAY.  We are limiting to five tags per child. There will be no charge for shopping this year. Many thanks to all who sent in items for our store. We had SO MANY donations this year – new and fairly costly items, especially from members of the parish who have no children in school. It is just astounding! We also thank, in advance, Theresa Berendzen, Carol Evers, Kathy Lea, Dianne Goetz, Christina Eickhoff, and Alvina Sestak, for being our “Elf Helpers” that day. We will begin the store at 10:20 am, and run it during special class time. So much fun!

COOKIE DOUGH: We still have some cookie dough money out. It is time to finish up this fundraiser. If you have not already done so, please turn your money in by Monday. If it not turned in on Monday, we will be calling you. We also have one of each kind of cookie dough left for sale – the only exceptions being peanut butter and sugar.  Contact the office if you are interested. PLEASE CHECK YOUR ORDERS – SOMEONE GOT CINNAMON BRAIDS INSTEAD OF CINNAMON ROLLS. Please let us know if you received the wrong item.

LUNCH BILLS:  We billed for lunch a few days early this month, due to the Christmas break. If you owe for the upcoming month, you will find a bill in today’s folder.
PARISH PENANCE SERVICE:  Wednesday, Dec. 16th, at 7:00 pm. No homework or tests will be assigned that evening so that all families are able to attend. FIRST RECONCILIATION is also set for the same time and date. The children making their First Reconciliation and their parents will go first, before all other parishioners and guests. Parents of these youngsters – please make your Reconciliation before your child so that your child will not be scared or nervous.  PLEASE PRAY FOR THESE CHILDREN - MAY GOD BLESS THEM ALL!

SCHOOL PROGRAM/MUSICAL:  Our sincere thanks to Mrs. Pleus, for all the hard work and practice time she put in with the students. We had a packed house on Sunday and a good showing for the dress rehearsal on Friday as well. All the singing and cute faces really put everyone in the Christmas spirit!

 SANTA STORE SET-UP:  Thanks to all who helped set up for the Santa Store between the ballgames on Thursday evening. We had many helping hands so it went very fast!

BASKETBALL UPDATE:  Good efforts are being put forth by all the ball players in this week of many games. Unfortunately, we have no winning scores to announce. Good luck to the JV girls & boys teams, who will each play two more games over the weekend – one tonight and one tomorrow in the High Point Tournament. GO COUGARS!

SCHOOL PROGRAM/MUSICAL:  The school musical is THIS SUNDAY, December 6th, after the 10:00 am Mass in the gym. Remember - We count on ALL students to make our program a success! If your child is not assigned a part with a costume, he/she should wear his/her Sunday best – NO JEANS! After Mass, all students should meet in the school cafeteria, with the exception of the preschoolers, who should go to their classroom to get ready. The reception will be hosted by the Home & School & School Board officers. If you have not already done so, please bring your two dozen cookies in before the program.

PLEASE TURN IN ALL COOKIE DOUGH MONEY BY THIS MONDAY, DECEMBER 7TH. Thanks so much to all who sold for this fundraiser. Special thanks to Patsy Bond, Christina Eickhoff, and Dianne Goetz for volunteering their time to sort & fill orders. PLEASE CHECK YOUR ORDERS – SOMEONE GOT CINNAMON BRAIDS INSTEAD OF CINNAMON ROLLS. ALSO – SOMEONE IS MISSING A CREAM CHEESE BRAID. Please let us know if you received the wrong item.
TUESDAY is a Holy Day of Obligation – The Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. IF YOU ARRIVE WITH YOUR CHILD AFTER 7:45 AM, PLEASE BRING HIM/HER DIRECTLY TO THE CHURCH, AS ALL SCHOOL STAFF WILL ATTEND MASS THAT MORNING.

SANTA STORE: If you have any new or like new items that would make good gifts and would like to donate, please send them to the school office. Most needed are items for dads and brothers. You can send in items anytime now. . The date for Santa Store is TUESDAY, DECEMBER 15TH. Volunteer “elf helpers” that day are Wendy Whittle, Kathy Lea, Theresa Berendzen, Debbie Schulte, & Dianne Goetz.

THURSDAY – We will host our first basketball games Thursday evening. We invite all back to school to cheer our teams on to victory! Because we are hosting games that evening, Thursday will be a dress down in school spirit day. Students may dress down if (and only if) they wear the school sponsored spirit shirts – not reading counts shirts, etc.

FOOD DRIVE: OLOS school students collected a huge amount of canned/boxed foods over the last two weeks – a total of 527 items in all. Wow! These items are being distributed to local food pantries. The 7th & 8th grade classes will be enjoying a popcorn & movie party in the very near future, having averaged the most per student. Congratulations to them & thanks to all who donated to this most worthy cause!

SPIRIT WEEK:  To kick off the basketball season, OLOS students may participate in Spirit Week. Students may wear jeans on Monday & Tuesday if they follow the theme for the day. Themes for each day are as follows:
Mon., Nov. 23 – Sock it to Em! – wear crazy/mismatched socks
(must roll up jeans to show socks)
Tues., Nov. 24- Show School Pride! – wear blue/gold or spirit shirts, players can wear uniforms with sleeved t-shirts underneath.

REMINDER:  All Spirit Day attire must follow dress guidelines pertaining to length requirements. NO HOLES PLEASE!

COOKIE DOUGH NEWS: Thanks so much to all who sold for this fundraiser. All totaled, OLOS School students sold 627 tubs of dough and pastries. Since we made our goal of selling at least 600 items, cash prizes will be awarded to top sellers. Congratulations to the following students for being top sellers:
$50 – Mikayla & Jacob Eickhoff – 41 items
$30 – Hannah Evers – 38 items
$20 – Sarray & Aubrey Schulte – 34 items
Remember -  COOKIE DOUGH DELIVERY IS TUESDAY, DECEMBER 1ST. YOU MUST PICK YOUR ORDERS UP BY 5:30 PM. We have no room in our freezer to store any. All collected money is due back to school by Monday, December 7th. We will release prizes and final profits as money is turned in. We are still looking for parent help to fill the cookie dough orders when it is delivered. Approximate time for delivery is 12:00 – 1:00 pm. Help will be needed for sorting early and for helping parents find and check their orders until approximately 5:30. Help during any of this time – even if it’s just an hour, is greatly appreciated. Please send a note, or call the office, with your offer to help. Thanks to Patsy Bond for being our first volunteer!

VOLUNTEER OF THE WEEK:  With all the rain this week, and clogged storm pipes, there was a time when we had a potential problem with water backing up into the new building. God bless Donnie Lepper, who came to the rescue with his waders, duck suit, and equipment! Donnie and Darryl worked throughout the deluge that afternoon, getting everything opened up. When you think about where you were when all that rain was coming down, it sure makes you appreciate what these guys did that day!

COSTUMES NEEDED: 2 King outfits & 2 angel outfits for preschoolers. Santa & Mrs. Claus outfits, and a big Santa burlap type or black bag. Call the office if you have any of these costumes to loan out.

OLOS School is signed up for this promotion and you can go online and enter each day until March 2016. It takes only a minute to sign up initially and just a few seconds each day to submit an entry. Whole Community Catechesis:  Wednesday, Dec. 2nd, beginning at 6:30 pm with a carry-in meal in the gym.

Parish Penance Service:  Wednesday, Dec. 16th, at 7:00 pm.
No homework or tests will be assigned either of these evenings so that all families are able to attend.

THE WEEK AHEAD: Food Drive Continues

COOKIE DOUGH SALESPLEASE TURN IN YOUR ORDER FORMS ON MONDAY! Cookie dough will be delivered on Tuesday, December 1st. ALL ORDERS MUST BE PICKED UP BY 5:30 PM THAT DAY – WE HAVE NO FREEZER SPACE TO STORE IT!

COOKIE DOUGH DELIVERY:  We will need parent help for filling the cookie dough orders when it is delivered on Tuesday, December 1st. Approximate time for delivery is 12:00 – 1:00 pm. Help will be needed for sorting early and for helping parents find and check their orders until approximately 5:30. Help during any of this time – even if it’s just an hour, is greatly appreciated. Please send a note, or call the office, with your offer to help. Thus far, we have no volunteers.

SPORTS PICTURES:  The volleyball & basketball teams will have their pictures taken (along with clubs, etc.) on Wed., Nov. 18th. We are in need of a volunteer parent from any of those teams to help with pictures. You will receive a $25 gift certificate towards your child’s sports picture. Please contact Rosie in the office if you could help out. Also, volleyball girls – WE ARE WAITING ON A FEW UNIFORMS. Make sure to send them back – we want to have the whole team in uniform for the picture. Basketball uniforms have been assigned and are being held in the office until picture day. Order forms for team pictures were sent home last week. Contact the office if you misplaced it and still wish to order.

SCHOOL PICTURES: If your child needs a retake, please return the ENTIRE package, noting what you would like to do differently. Please return these by Tuesday so we know ahead of time whose we are retaking.

CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK COMMITTEE:  There will be a meeting on Monday, November 16th, at 6:30 in the cafeteria. All are welcome! Come with enthusiasm and/or good ideas!

SANTA STORE: If you have any new or like new items that would make good gifts, please set to the side for donation to the Santa Store. Most needed are items for dads and brothers. You can start sending in items at the beginning of December. The date for Santa Store has been set for Wed., Dec. 16. Please call or send a note to the office if you’d like to volunteer to be an elf helper that day – to help the kids shop & wrap gifts.

EXTENDED CARE SERVICES:  Extended care services WILL be available in the morning & afternoon for the two remaining half days of 2015 – Wed., Nov. 25 & Tues., Dec. 22. The drop in fee for half days is $10. (Full & part-time regular students – fee remains $5 for half days).

SCHOOL PROGRAM/MUSICAL:  The school musical is scheduled for Sunday, December 6th, after the 10:00 am Mass, in the gym. If your child cannot attend for some reason, please contact the classroom teacher. We count on ALL students to make our program a success! (Full dress rehearsal, Friday, Dec. 4 @ 9:00 am.) Also, we are asking that all school families send in two dozen homemade cookies on Friday, December 4th to serve as refreshments for the play. We’d like them before the play date, to get the trays ready. Thank you!

COSTUMES NEEDED: 2 King outfits & 2 angel outfits for preschoolers. Santa & Mrs. Claus outfits, and a big Santa burlap type or black bag. Call the office if you have any of these costumes to loan out.

GIFT EXCHANGE/PARTIES:  Students will be doing a gift exchange in the classroom at their Christmas parties on Tuesday, Dec. 22nd. Boys should buy for boys and girls buy for girls – names will not be exchanged. Gifts should be of $5 value. Parties will begin at 9:30 am, and we may just get a special visitor that morning at 8:00 am. Shh – it’s our secret!

SPIRIT WEEK:  To kick off the basketball season, OLOS students can participate in Spirit Week. Themes for each day are as follows:
Mon., Nov. 23 – Sock it to Em! – wear crazy/mismatched socks
Tues., Nov. 24- Show School Pride! – wear blue/gold or spirit shirts, players can wear uniforms with sleeved t-shirts underneath.
Wed., Nov 25 – Classroom Themes:
PK – Pajama Day (wear regular shoes – no slippers)
K –   Pajama & Hat Day (wear regular shoes – no slippers)
1/2 – Backward/Opposite Day
3/4 – Silly/Mismatched Day
5/6 – Dress Your Worst Day
7/8 – Country v. City Day
REMINDER:  All selections must follow dress guidelines pertaining to length requirements. NO HOLES PLEASE!

 FOOD DRIVE:  The food drive for local families in need and for the food pantries extends until Friday, Nov. 20. The class with the highest item average will win a popcorn & movie party! The food drive is being sponsored by the Student Council.
