ITALIAN FEAST NEWS: Italian Feast is ONE WEEK AWAY! We need each family to help find donations for the Silent Auction in addition to the class basket donation you all have made. Please ask business you frequent or if you are crafty, make something.  It all has value to someone!    Thanks in advance for your support of this important fundraiser for our school. Together we will make the Italian Feast a huge success.  Also, please return any unsold tickets and money to the school office next week.  Work assignments can be found in today’s folder. If you do not see your name on the work list and are able to work, please contact the office. ALL SCHOOL FAMILIES ARE NEEDED TO MAKE THIS FUNDRAISER A SUCCESS!

CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK CELEBRATION: Saturday evening, Jan. 25th , we will begin our celebration of Catholic Schools Week by students (who volunteered) participating in the ministry for the 5:00 pm Mass. All with ministry assignments are asked to wear school dress code and should meet Mrs. Werdehausen in the main vestibule of church at 4:50 pm. Other students are encouraged to wear their spirit shirts.  After Mass, we will continue our celebration in the gym and cafeteria, when we will first enjoy a short talent show, eat, and then enjoy a movie. Please bring along any blankets, sleeping bags and pillows you may want as we will be sitting on the gym floor for the movie. Chairs will be set up for adults. The Student Council will be offering soda and popcorn for sale during the movie. If any of the adults would care to play cards while the others are enjoying the movie, we may get that going, depending on the interest.

MANY THANKS to Lynn Morgan, Rhonda Groose, Kathleen Haeffner, Marianna Werdehausen & Jim Kliethermes for transporting the 4th, 5th, and 6th graders to the pro-life rosary on Friday. What a wonderful opportunity you provided for our students to show support for life! We appreciate YOU!
PLAYGROUND BENEFIT: The wonderful Knights of Columbus of our parish will be sponsoring a benefit steak dinner to support the development of a new required fenced-in playground area for the preschool program. This will take place on Saturday, Feb. 15th, serving from 5:00 until 8:00 pm. Tickets are available from the school office. The cost is $15 per ticket. There are approximately 250 tickets available. If every school family sold two that would be 100 sold. If every school family sold four, that would take care of most of them. Ask around and let us know how many we can send home for you to sell. Thanks so much for your support!

CHANGE YOUR CALENDAR:  School will NOT be in session on Mon., Feb. 24th and WILL BE in session on Fri., Feb. 21st due to Religious Ed. Institute.

DONATION TO LUNCH ACCOUNT: Our sincere thanks to all who helped in any way and those who attended the Shiloh dance last weekend.  It was a great event and every one had a lot fun! Your generosity and support helped raise $2838.61 for the lunch program. That will go along way to make ends meet! Following a trend for the last few years, our lunch program has been in the red. Last year, we experienced a shortfall of just over $3000. We realize that we must continue our fundraising efforts in support of this program. We appreciate all you do!

8TH GRADE RETREAT: The eleven 8th graders will be attending the annual retreat in Folk on March 12th from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. The cost for the retreat is $8 each, which you may send in at any time, but please by Feb. 18th. Students will need to provide their own sack lunches and drinks. We are in need of parent drivers for the day. Please call the school office if you can help transport these students. Thanks!

SODA TABS: The Student Council is collecting soda tabs for the Ronald McDonald House. Please begin saving these for this most worthy cause. You may send them into the office anytime. Thank you!

BOOKFAIR & BREAKFAST:  Due to scheduling conflicts, the book fair breakfast originally scheduled for Feb 23rd has been rescheduled for Sunday, March 2, 2013.

GUITAR LESSONS: Mrs. Forbis asks that any interested students to notify the school so she can get a head count.

CHANGE OF LUNCH MENU: On Thursday, Jan. 30th we will have roasted chicken instead of fried chicken. This is due to the fact that we did not get a shipment in. The fried chicken meal will be offered at a later date.

PARISH MISSION:  Mark your calendars now for OLOS Parish Mission to be held from March 9th through the 12th. Fr. John Mark Ettensohn, a member of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate from Belleville, IL will be conducting the mission. More information will be in future notes, but make plans now to attend these four evenings.

THANK YOU FROM SAMARITAN CENTER: Thank you so much for your generous support of the Samaritan Center with your monetary donation used for Santa’s workshop.
