CONGRATULATIONS to our 2nd graders, receiving their First Eucharist this weekend. They are: Austin Burnett, Oliver Burrows, Austin Doerhoff, Anna Eickhoff, Mikayla Eickhoff, Ben Goetz, Karley Lage, Aubrey Schulte, & Nolan Schulte. Please pray for these students and all of the students receiving First Eucharist this weekend!

PROGRESS REPORTS were available last week. If you have not already done so, please sign & return slips/progress reports on Monday.

SKETCH DAY: Congratulations to the students attending Sketch Day at the Capitol last Tuesday – they did a wonderful job on their sketches! Special recognition to Emily Love, who took 2nd place in the charcoal/pencil division, and to Hannah Evers, who received Honorable Mention in the same category. We also recognize the other students who received ribbons of participation - Kayla Bond, Alex Evers, Devin Haeffner, Elizabeth Kliethermes, Ava Puckett, & Justin Schrimpf. We are proud of you ALL!

THURSDAY is Ascension Thursday, a Holy Day of Obligation. ALONG WITH THE STUDENTS, ALL SCHOOL STAFF WILL BE ATTENDING MASS THAT MORNING. IF YOU BRING YOUR CHILD TO SCHOOL AFTER 7:45, PLEASE BRING HIM/HER DIRECTLY TO CHURCH.

FEES OWED: As we approach the end of the year, we would like to remind all families that final grade cards will only be issued to students whose fees are paid in full. This includes, but is not limited to, sustaining fees, lost library book fees, preschool &/or extended care fees, school support/tithing, lunch fees, rule violation fees, lost textbook fees, etc. FINAL FEE NOTICES WILL BE SENT HOME NEXT FRIDAY.
  
READING COUNTS: If your child earned 200 points by April 22, field trip packets are in today’s folder. PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO FILL THESE FORMS OUT COMPLETELY AND ATTACH THE $5 PAYMENT. Please be considerate of the driving arrangements. Friends may not get to ride with friends. It was a BIG job to get this all organized, and consider that it’s less than an hour trip and it is a wonderful opportunity to make new connections!

STUDENTS NOT ATTENDING THE TRIP: This will be a normal day of school for those not attending. Students not attending will be held accountable for all assignments that day, even if they earned the 200 points and choose not to go.

LIBRARY BOOKS:  The last day to check out books was Tuesday, April 26th. All books need to be turned in to the library by Tuesday, May 3rd. Thanks so much to Debbie Schulte, Dianne Goetz, and Christina Eickhoff for all their hard work and volunteer hours in our library this year.

FIELD DAY:  Students will be enjoying Field Day on Tuesday, May 17, 2016. This will be a dress down day.

LAST DAY OF SCHOOL: The last day of school is set for Wednesday, May 18th, dismissing at 12:00 noon, with the Awards ceremony set for 9:30 am. THERE WILL BE NO EXTENDED CARE SERVICES AVAILABLE THAT AFTERNOON.

GOLF TOURNAMENT NEWS:  The annual OLOSS Golf Tournament will be held on Saturday, May 14th at Redfield Golf Course in Eugene. Get the word out now and try to get people signed up to play and sponsor holes for this event!

DRESS DOWN PASSES can now be used on Wednesdays as well as Fridays until the end of the year.

SCRIP: Orders for physical gift cards are due on May 15. Orders will be placed on May 16. Order forms can be placed in the collection basket at church.  You can also order e-gift cards at www.shopwithscrip.com.  For questions or alternate ways to get your order turned in, contact Brittany Goetz at 573-291-8246.

OLOS SCHOOL will be updating our SCHOOL WELLNESS POLICY this spring. Anyone interested in helping with this process, please call the school office.  Thanks to Megan Limbach and Robyn Silvey for offering so far!

PROGRESS REPORTS are available today. If your child is in grades K – 2, you will find a hard copy of their progress report in today’s folder. If your child is in grades 3-8, you will find an Option C sign-off slip to return once you have checked your child’s grades on Option C, with your personal username & password. (OptionC.com, school code 8085). Please sign & return slips/progress reports on Monday.

THE 2016-17 REGISTRATION PACKETS WERE SENT HOME LAST FRIDAY. PLEASE FILL THESE OUT & RETURN NO LATER THAN THIS MONDAY, APRIL 25TH.ONLY THOSE RETURNING BY THIS DATE WILL GET TO DRESS DOWN THE FOLLOWING DAY, ON APRIL 26TH. GRANNY BASKETBALL:  The H & S is sponsoring “Granny Basketball” against some of our students on Thursday night, April 28th at 6:30. The whole community is invited to attend. This will also be the night Mr. V gets taped to the wall by those who recently supported the Student Council food drive – so you don’t want to miss out! Admission is FREE. The H & S will be selling concessions that evening. Make plans now to attend!

VANDIKE IF YOU ARE ABLE TO DRIVE FOR THIS TRIP NO LATER THAN THIS MONDAY, APRIL 25TH. IF WE CANNOT FIND DRIVERS, WE WILL HAVE TO CANCEL AND GO WITH AN ALTERNATE PLAN. Also, a reminder on dress for the R. C. trip – wear R. C shirt to school, students may wear flip-flops. If your child chooses to wear a bikini, or any swimming apparel that exposes the midsection, then she must wear a T-shirt over it the entire time. NO SIBLINGS ALLOWED ON THIS TRIP. THE PREGNANCY HELP CENTER is sponsoring a 5K Walk/Run on Saturday, April 30, at Memorial Park.  This event includes live entertainment, prizes for dressing as a Super Hero, fund raising awards, and race trophies and medals.  Registration begins at 8:30 and the race starts at 9:00 a.m.  Preregister by April 18 at www.friendsofphc.org for a free t-shirt.

SPELLING BEE: Devin Haeffner is to be congratulated for placing 4th in the 7th grade division of the St. Martin’s Spelling Bee on Tuesday. Along with Devin, we congratulate the fourteen other students attending that day. They were: Tevin Groose, Emily Love, Joe Beck, Hannah Evers Kayla Bond, Macy Adrian, Sara Beck, Faith Kempker, Jordan Bittle, Tyler Groose, Sarray Schulte, Aly Haeffner, Ayden Schulte & Ethan Schulte.

As we approach the end of the year, we would like to remind all families that final grade cards will only be issued to students whose fees are paid in full. This includes, but is not limited to, sustaining fees, lost library book fees, preschool &/or extended care fees, school support/tithing, lunch fees, rule violation fees, lost textbook fees, etc.

The students who reach the goal will get to spend the day swimming at Tan-Tar-A waterpark in Osage Beach. Cost to parents will be determined after upcoming fundraising efforts. We will need MANY DRIVERS for that day, as we will not be renting a bus. Please find and return enclosed note concerning drivers for the trip.

NCYC MEETING Sunday evening at 6:00 pm – cafeteria (for all high schoolers/parents interested in going to Indiana/NCYC in the fall of 2017 – (this includes our 7th & 8th graders). This trip is a wonderful opportunity for our youth to celebrate their faith with thousands of other youth across the country.

DEADLINE FOR FRIDAY NOTES: Thursdays, 9:00 am. All non-school related flyers need to be copied ahead of time on paper (the school cannot afford to supply paper for outside events). Upon approval by the principal, the information will then be placed in the Friday folder as a courtesy. It is not appropriate for the school to send out extraneous information that can be handled other ways. Also, if you have items for the Friday notes, please write these items up, send them in, or email them to rosie@radiowire.net (call to let me know you have emailed please). I don’t mind doing a little editing and rewording, but the bulk of the item should be outlined with details.

EARTH DAY: Earth Day is celebrated on April 22. There will be activities at the Capitol geared toward 5th graders, but all are welcome. In this light, we are asking for drivers for our 5th and 6th grade to be able to attend. This would be for 11 students. Please contact the office with your offer to drive. If we can get the drivers, we will send the students. Thanks!
