If you need additional time for discussion, please schedule that at a separate time with the classroom teacher.

FANTASY NIGHT WINNERS: A list of winners may be found on the back of these notes. Many thanks to all who supported and helped with major school fundraiser.

HALLOWEEN PARTIES/PARADE: We will once again get all dressed up in our Halloween costumes and take our annual “Halloween Walk”, trick-or-treating the businesses in town. Students will start getting their costumes on around 1:00 – 1:15 pm.  Room parents, remember, we count on you to plan refreshments and games! And, please – no scary or gory costumes at school. We don’t want to frighten any of the younger students!

ROOM PARENT FOUND: Thanks to Missy Beck for stepping up to be the coordinator for the 7th & 8th grade parties!

NO SCHOOL – Friday, October 27th.

BOX TOPS: Please turn in all Box Tops as soon as possible. Gina Adrian will be submitting them November 1st. Since this is Gina’s last year as a parent at OLOS, we are looking for someone to take over Box Top submission. Please contact the office if you could help out.

THANKS to Tracey & Glenn Backes, who volunteered to coordinate concessions and work lists for our athletic program. They are replacing Gina Adrian, who has done this for many years, but is now handing it over, as her last child graduates this spring. We thank her for the years of service and thank Tracey & Glenn for their offer to take this on!

FIRE HOUSE TOURS: We thank the Cole County Fire Protection District for hosting our school children at the fire house for a tour and good information. Some great pictures were taken and can be seen on the reverse side of these notes.

LUNCH BILLS; If you owe for the time period Oct 15-Nov 15, you will find a bill in today’s folder.

VOLLEYBALL NEWS: The JV girls won all three sets last night, against the IC, JC Angels. Winning scores were 25-17, 25-13, and 25-19. That gives them a record of five wins, two losses. The girls will be participating in the Catholic Bowl next weekend in Jefferson City. Great job Lady Cougars and good luck as you finish out your regular season next week!

We still have tickets for sale, and those can be purchased at Mary’s Home Bank until 11:30 Saturday morning. ALL PARENTS PLEASE COME HELP WASH & WRAP POTATOES AND DECORATE THIS EVENING (FRIDAY), BEGINNING AT 6:30 PM. We are looking for a very successful fundraiser on Saturday and wish to thank everyone for their help and support!

DONUTS WITH DAD: It was really great to see all the dads (and dad subs) in attendance at Mass and at the reception on Thursday. Each class presented a short skit for their dads, and everyone really enjoyed the morning! Thanks to all for supporting OLOS School where WE LOVE OUR DADS!

PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES are scheduled for October 26th. A finalized schedule will be sent out next Friday. For those who have not returned the sign-up, you will find a tentative schedule in today’s folder. Please pick an open slot and return. Remember, you must conference with the classroom teacher to receive grade cards this quarter.

PICTURE MORNING this week was a little hectic, due to the accident that the Vandikes were involved in, but we had great help! Thanks so much to Roselyn Wood, who helped unload kids, and stayed to help with pictures as well, to Robyn Silvey, for manning the door, to Ashley Kempker for being moved from picture day help to subbing in the 5/6 classroom for the morning, and to Cindy McKenna, for helping with pictures. It all worked out and we are just so glad that no one was injured!

FIRE SAFETY WEEK is this week. To go along with the theme of the week, all students will have the opportunity to walk with their class across the street to learn more about the fire house, fire truck, and the firefighters’ job. A PERMISSION FORM IS IN TODAY’S FOLDER. A SECOND FORM WILL NOT BE SENT HOME. IF YOUR CHILD DOES NOT RETURN HIS/HERS, THEY WILL REMAIN AT SCHOOL. PLEASE FILL OUT COMPLETELY.

HALLOWEEN PARTIES/PARADE: It is time to start thinking about the classroom parties and parade. We will once again get all dressed up in our Halloween costumes and take our annual “Halloween Walk”, trick-or-treating the businesses in town. Students will start getting their costumes on around 1:00 – 1:15 pm.  Room parents, remember, we count on you to plan refreshments and games! And, please – no scary or gory costumes at school. We don’t want to frighten any of the younger students!

ROOM PARENT NEEDED: The 7th & 8th grade classroom is in need of a room parent to coordinate the class parties. This person does not necessarily have to attend the parties, they would just need to coordinate with other parents for refreshments.

BOX TOPS: Please turn in all Box Tops as soon as possible. Gina Adrian will be submitting them November 1st. Since this is Gina’s last year as a parent at OLOS, we are looking for someone to take over Box Top submission. Please contact the office if you could help out.

ALSO NEEDED, for the same reason as above, is someone to replace Gina as the athletic coordinator for refreshments and game workers. Gina’s job is actually done, because she has no-one playing basketball this fall, but she says she would be willing to work with someone (4, 5, 6 girls parent(s)) to train. Please contact the office with your offer to help.

VOLLEYBALL NEWS: Last night the girls won overall, taking two sets out of three, against previously undefeated I. C., Loose Creek. Scores were 28-16 (win in overtime), a loss on the 2nd set, and 18-10 (win with time running out). These girls are really having a great season and are making us very proud! Great job Lady Cougars!
