FANTASY NIGHT: ALL FANTASY NIGHT TICKETS – SOLD AND UNSOLD, NEED TO BE TURNED INTO THE OFFICE ON MONDAY. Congratulations to Chris & Pat Vitello, winners of the Early Bird Drawing. This lucky couple can either choose to take the $100 cash or an additional ticket.
PROGRESS REPORTS and sign-offs were sent home last week. If you have not already done so, please check grades and return signed slip. As always, if you have a question or concern, do not hesitate to contact the classroom teacher.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: We are in need of parents to help with the soccer fun league. Kaysie Scheuler will head up this league, but several parents will be needed to work with each group of students. Practices would be around 6:30 pm, and days of week depend on parent helper preferences. Please contact Mrs. Werdehausen with your offer to help.
MANY THANKS to…
· Dawn Clabaugh, who is volunteering her time to help us out with daily recess duty. What a great undertaking with such a willing attitude.
· Elaine Kempker & Dianne Goetz, who so willingly volunteered to help with the Health Screenings on Thursday.
If you see these ladies around, please thank them for their donation of time and talent for our students.
LIBRARY HELP STILL NEEDED: We are in need of a library helper on Tuesdays to help Christina read to the students. Please call the office if you would like to volunteer.
STUDENT HEALTH SCREENINGS
BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION NEWS: We will be making our semi-annual Box Tops submission at the end of October. Please send in any that you may have accumulated. Many thanks to Jeanne Buechter and girls, who have been taking care of these submissions for the last several years! Since Jeanne’s youngest will be graduating from 8th grade this year, we are looking for a replacement volunteer to head up this program (and also the Best Choice UPC program). It involves clipping and packaging the Box Tops and making sure they are submitted twice a year. One thing that would really help out would be if all would take the few seconds to cut these out instead of tearing them – it saves space and postage costs. Thanks so much to all who clip and save!
VIRTUS TRAINING: The Diocese of Jefferson City will hold a VIRTUS – Protecting God’s Children – session on Thursday, Oct. 3 @ 6:30 pm at Sacred Heart, Eldon (
All employees and volunteers 18 years and over who have ongoing and/or
unsupervised contact with children and youth in our parish are required to
attend a VIRTUS session. All parents and other adults in the parish community
are encouraged to attend. To register for the session, please go to www.virtusonline.org or call the
chancery @ 635-9127. Catholic Center
PAROCHIAL SCHOOL FUN NIGHT for all 5th through 8th grade students at Firley YMCA on October 12th. We have had several students attend this in the past and they have reported a great time. For details please see enclosed flyer.
SPIRIT DAY CHANGE! School Spirit dress down days will now be on all days that we host HOME GAMES to show support for our fine athletes and to raise school spirit. In months when we do not host home games, the spirit day will be on the last Friday of the month. If you would like to order a spirit shirt, and did not receive a copy of the order form at the Home & School meeting, please sent a note and we will get one out to you. Remember, on days designated, students may only dress down if they wear the official spirit shirt. THURSDAY WILL BE A SCHOOL SPIRIT DAY!
4-6 GRADE VOLLEYBALL SCORES: The younger girls reported some pretty competitive games last weekend. Though they didn’t win, the scores were close. Keep up the spirit, girls!
JV VOLLEYBALL: The JV girls lost their sets against St. Francis last night at home.
HOME & SCHOOL FUN NIGHTS: Two nights will be offered as “fun nights” for students of OLOS. On Friday, October 11th, the PK-4th graders and parents are invited to play kick-ball in the old gym. On Friday, October 18th, the 5-8 graders and parents are invited to gather for volleyball in the new gym. Both of these events will run from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. This is not a babysitting service; we encourage you to come and play along or watch and cheer!
H & S TREASURER NEEDED: If you are interested in serving as treasurer please contact Mrs. Werdehausen. Please consider your talents and pray over this opportunity to serve the OLOS school family.
FIRE DEPT. TOUR: On October 10th the students of OLOSS will be enjoying a trip across the road to tour the fire dept. and to visit with local firefighter(s). Permission slips are in today’s folder.
HELIAS VISIT: On Wednesday, Oct. 16th the 7th & 8th graders will be visiting
