VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: We are in need of parents to help with the soccer fun league. Kaysie Scheuler will head up this league, but several parents will be needed to work with each group of students. Practices would be around 6:30 pm, and days of week depend on parent helper preferences.  Please contact Mrs. Werdehausen with your offer to help.
MANY THANKS to…
·          Dawn Clabaugh, who is volunteering her time to help us out with daily recess duty. What a great undertaking with such a willing attitude.
·          Elaine Kempker & Dianne Goetz, who so willingly volunteered to help with the Health Screenings on Thursday.
If you see these ladies around, please thank them for their donation of time and talent for our students.

LIBRARY HELP STILL NEEDED: We are in need of a library helper on Tuesdays to help Christina read to the students. Please call the office if you would like to volunteer.
STUDENT HEALTH SCREENINGS

BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION NEWS: We will be making our semi-annual Box Tops submission at the end of October. Please send in any that you may have accumulated. Many thanks to Jeanne Buechter and girls, who have been taking care of these submissions for the last several years! Since Jeanne’s youngest will be graduating from 8th grade this year, we are looking for a replacement volunteer to head up this program (and also the Best Choice UPC program). It involves clipping and packaging the Box Tops and making sure they are submitted twice a year. One thing that would really help out would be if all would take the few seconds to cut these out instead of tearing them – it saves space and postage costs. Thanks so much to all who clip and save!

VIRTUS TRAINING:  The Diocese of Jefferson City will hold a VIRTUS – Protecting God’s Children – session on Thursday, Oct. 3 @ 6:30 pm at Sacred Heart, Eldon (Catholic Center). All employees and volunteers 18 years and over who have ongoing and/or unsupervised contact with children and youth in our parish are required to attend a VIRTUS session. All parents and other adults in the parish community are encouraged to attend. To register for the session, please go to www.virtusonline.org or call the chancery @ 635-9127.

PAROCHIAL SCHOOL FUN NIGHT for all 5th through 8th grade students at Firley YMCA on October 12th. We have had several students attend this in the past and they have reported a great time. For details please see enclosed flyer.

SPIRIT DAY CHANGE! School Spirit dress down days will now be on all days that we host HOME GAMES to show support for our fine athletes and to raise school spirit. In months when we do not host home games, the spirit day will be on the last Friday of the month. If you would like to order a spirit shirt, and did not receive a copy of the order form at the Home & School meeting, please sent a note and we will get one out to you. Remember, on days designated, students may only dress down if they wear the official spirit shirt. THURSDAY WILL BE A SCHOOL SPIRIT DAY!

PROGRESS REPORTS: Grades K-2 progress reports are in today’s folder. Please look these over, sign, and return. Grades 3-8 grades are available online through Option C (school code 8085 www.optionc.com) with your user name & password (provided earlier). Please take time this weekend to look at your child’s grades, and sign & return the slip enclosed in today’s folder. As always, if you have a question or concern, do not hesitate to contact the classroom teacher.

JOHNNY APPLESEED DAY! This Friday, Sept. 27th, students who dress in the spirit of Johnny Appleseed may dress down. Ideas: rolled up jeans, tennis shoes, shirts in “apple colors” – red, yellow, green. Students are encouraged to bring an apple for snack that day and to bring an extra for their teacher.

Practices would be around 6:30 pm, and days of week depend on parent helper preferences.  Please see sign –up for students and parent helpers elsewhere in this folder.

We could also use help with daily recess duty, from 10:00 to 10:30 and 11:20 to 11:40 daily. Volunteer(s) could take one, two…or all days of week. Mostly this is just general oversight and to be available to take students in who have gotten hurt on the playground or who need to use the restroom. Lunch is provided. Please ask your relatives if they would like to help us out and urge them to call Mrs. Werdehausen.

FANTASY NIGHT:  ALL sold and unsold tickets need to be returned to your main holder or to the office. We are getting several requests for tickets that we cannot fill at the office. Only approximately 70 have been turned into the bank as sold. This leaves 230 tickets still out there, most hopefully sold. Please do not hold on to tickets that are not “for sure”. The weekend would be a great time to get all ticket sales finalized.

God bless our vets and thank them for their service!

DRESS DOWN FOR $1 DAY: Friday is a dress down for $1 day. This year the Student Council is allocating these funds to the Eldon Food Bank – a very worthy cause. Please make every effort to remember to send $1 if your child dresses down. All length and sleeve requirements are still in force.

The Council generally meets once a month and works on activities to “brighten” the students lives at school. Call the office if you would like to help. Many thanks to Missy Evers who has volunteered to help out. We would like to have at least one more adult sponsor.
