DAY
GRANDPARENTS’ DAY is
MONDAY: OLOS School
will be hosting Grandparents’ Day on Monday, Sept. 9 – 10:45-11:45, when
grandparents will be enjoying lunch with the students. Because we have to have
enough food bought ahead, the deadline for signing up for lunch was today, Friday,
Sept. 6. We look forward to seeing all grandparents on Monday!
VETERANS HONORED: We would like to invite all veterans to meet
us around the flagpole in front of the middle school on Wednesday, September 11th
at 2:00 pm. We will be honoring all veterans during this ceremony, so tell
other vets you know. After the flag-raising ceremony, please join us in the
gym. We look forward to seeing you on Sept. 11th!
PRO-LIFE
PILGRIMAGE: Parents of students in the older grades. In last
week’s Friday folder there was enclosed detailed information regarding the
annual trip to Washington D. C. from our diocese for the March for Life,
scheduled for Jan. 20-23, 2014. Pray
over this opportunity to witness your faith and beliefs. Adult chaperones are
also needed. Sheila Suess will coordinate this event for our parish. If you are
interested, please let us know in the school office so that we may pass this
information on. The spots fill up quickly, so time is of the essence.
SCHOOL
MALL: This week your
child brought home the School Mall booklets, asking that they be filled out at
home with addresses of 11 people. The school receives $2.25 for each completed
booklet, BUT DOES NOT RECEIVE ANY ADDITIONAL FUNDS FOR ORDERS PLACED. You may
want to let others know this. Congratulations to Gabby Morff, whose name was
drawn from those returning their booklets on the first day. She won a “mega music machine.”
MULCH
NEEDED: If you or anyone you know has any extra mulch, the
flower beds by the school could use some. Call the office or unload and spread
when it is convenient for you. Thank you!
STUDENT
COUNCIL SPONSORS NEEDED:
We are looking for parent volunteers to help with
the Student Council. The Council generally meets once a month and works on
activities to “brighten” the students lives at school. Call the office if you
would like to help.
CARTRIDGES:
We received $27.30 for a recent shipment of
cartridges. Thanks so much to all who send those used ink cartridges in to
school. This money helps us purchase ink for the school computers.
HELIAS
OPEN HOUSE: Helias
Catholic High
School would like to invite all OLOS students to
an Open House on Sunday, Sept. 15th from 12:00 to 2:00 pm. Anyone
with an interest in Helias is encouraged to attend. Did you know that at the end of your Junior year at Helias Catholic you
can have 18 hours of college credit? Seniors can graduate with 44+ hours of
college credit.
LIBRARY
HELP: We are in need of a library helper on Tuesdays to
help Christina read to the students. Please call the office if you would like
to volunteer.
LUNCH
NOTICE: For students purchasing daily lunches: Students may
choose a peanut butter and jelly sandwich in lieu of the main entrée if they
have a note from home. They must bring a note on the day that the
substitution is desired and must present it to the classroom teacher first
thing in the morning. SACK LUNCH STUDENTS: We are asking for donations of paper
plates for students heating up their lunches.
YEARBOOKS: If you would like to purchase a yearbook,
the cost is $12. Please make checks payable to OLOS School
and remit in a marked envelope. Your copy will be sent home in the folder on
the following Friday.
LATE
BREAKING SCORES!!! Congratulations to the JV Girls Volleyball team.
They won their first set of games against St. Peter’s School on Thursday
evening. The scores were 25-13, 25-17, 25-19 (?). Way to go LADY COUGARS!!!!
DEADLINE FOR FRIDAY NOTES:
Thursdays, 9:00 am. All non-school related flyers
need to be copied ahead of time on paper (the school cannot afford to supply
paper for outside events). Upon approval
by the principal, the information will then be placed in the Friday folder
as a courtesy. It is not appropriate for the school to send out extraneous
information that can be handled other ways. Also, if you have items for the Friday
notes, please write these items up, send them in, or email them to rosie@radiowire.net
(call to let me know you
have emailed please). I don’t mind doing a little editing and rewording, but
the bulk of the item should be outlined with details.
Remember to return your folder
on MONDAY.
Enjoy the weekend everyone!
