THANK YOU! Thank you so much room parents – for the great activities and refreshments for the parties today! We could not do it without your wonderful help!

SPORTS PICTURES:  The volleyball & basketball teams will have their pictures taken (along with clubs, etc.) on Wed., Nov. 18th. We are in need of a volunteer parent from any of those teams to help with pictures. You will receive a $25 gift certificate towards your child’s sports picture. Please contact Rosie in the office if you could help out. Also, volleyball girls – go ahead and turn in your uniforms with your name on them, and we will hold them for the team picture. Make sure to send them back – we want to have the whole team in uniform for the picture. Basketball uniforms will be assigned next week and held in the office until picture day. Order forms for team pictures will be sent home next Friday.

COOKIE DOUGH SALESOLOS School will once again be selling cookie dough. We will be doing this to accrue the funds to send all of our teachers to the NCEA conference, which will be held in St. Louis in the Spring of 2017. This is the first time in many years that the NCEA conference is so close. We will begin sales on Thursday, Nov. 5, and end sales on Monday, Nov. 16. Cookie dough will be delivered, to be picked up by the parents, on Tuesday, December 1st. ALL ORDERS MUST BE PICKED UP – WE HAVE NO FREEZER SPACE TO STORE IT!

COOKIE DOUGH DELIVERY:  We will need parent help for filling the cookie dough orders when it is delivered on Tuesday, December 1st. Approximate time for delivery is 12:00 – 1:00 pm. Help will be needed for sorting early and for helping parents find and check their orders until approximately 5:30. Help during any of this time – even if it’s just an hour, is greatly appreciated. Please send a note, or call the office, with your offer to help.
CALLLING ALL MILITARY!  All active military and veterans, their families, and the whole community, are invited to join the school children for a patriotic rosary on Wednesday, November 11th, Veterans’ Day. We will begin at 2:15 pm, and meet at the flagpole, weather permitting (alternate site – gym). Please pass this invitation to family, friends, and neighbors. The school children will be wearing red/white/blue and camo that day, and all are invited to do the same, or dress in military attire. We look forward to having the veterans with us on Veterans’ Day and we thank them for their service to our country!

BASKETBALL TEAMS:  This year, OLOS School will have two teams, one JV boys’ team, consisting of 7th & 8th grade boys, and one JV girls’ team, consisting of 6th, 7th, & 8th graders. We will let you know when practices will begin. Remember, your child must have the following three items turned into the office to practice or play ball:  $20 per family/year sports fee, athletic form, and a physical.

OCTOBER PRESCHOOL FEES are posted on Option C, and if you owe, you will find notice in today’s folder.

OCTOBER EXTENDED CARE FEES will be posted on Option C by Monday, and notices will be sent next Friday, if you owe.

GERBES COMMUNITY REWARDS; OLOS School just received $41.06 for this quarter’s Community Rewards. If you haven’t signed up, please do so. This could ultimately replace a fundraiser if all participate and it is so easy! See details following.

GERBES:  OLOS has enrolled in the Gerbes “Community Rewards” program. This program offers money back to our school, based on enrolled customer’s spending. It is a really easy process. You just tie your Gerbes shopper’s card to our school account. If you don’t have a Gerbes shopper’s card, it takes less than a minute to get one at the store and also online. All the information needed to complete this process is online. @ www.gerbes.com/communityrewards. Our school code is 48253. It takes just a couple minutes so get all your family and friends to register as well! The school will receive quarterly payments in cash form. We will update you as we receive those funds. This has the potential to be a huge moneymaker for the school – the key is to get many, many people involved. Please pass the word to family and friends and thanks for supporting OLOS School!!!

CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK COMMITTEE:  There will be a meeting on Monday, November 16th, at 6:30 in the cafeteria. All are welcome! Come with enthusiasm and/or good ideas!

SANTA STORE: If you have any new or like new items that would make good gifts, please set to the side for donation to the Santa Store. Most needed are items for dads and brothers. We will begin the collection closer to Christmas.

LET’S WIN A FREE PLAYGROUND: Together Counts is a nationwide program inspiring active and healthy living. This program offers each year, a sweepstakes for schools to win a free playground. OLOS School is signed up for this promotion and you can go online and enter each day until March 2016. It takes only a minute to sign up initially and just a few seconds each day to submit an entry. Just think how much better our chances will be if many participate each day. So tell your friends, families, and associates. Forward this address to everyone, and ask them to help OLOS School win a new playground!  If you do not wish to be contacted for any other promotions you can deselect those options. WELCOME LIAM JOSEPH! Trenton & Tanner Lage are proud big brothers to new little Liam, born earlier this week, weighing in at 7 lbs. 7 oz, with a length of 20 inches. Liam is the fourth son of Shannon & Josh Lage, and joins older brother Jace at home. Congratulations and may God continue to bless this happy family of six!

BIRTHDAY PARTIES/GET TOGETHERS: If your child is inviting children to a party from school, and is not including either the entire class, or all the girls, or all the boys, it is not appropriate to pass out invitations at school. To do this causes hurt feelings with some students. We know that this is not intentional, but it happens. If all are not invited (or all the girls or all the boys) then invitations must be handled outside of school. Thank you for your cooperation.

HOME & SCHOOL NEWS:  Thanks to all the parents and staff who attended the first H & S meeting. We had much good food and fellowship. Father Pat presented at the meeting, with encouragement for parents, students, and staff to plan activities to bring the school into the community and vice versa, and not work primarily as a fundraising committee. He stressed fostering an atmosphere of open engagement, in which we look out for the needs of those in our community. Fantasy Night was also discussed and we had volunteers for new officers.  Thank you to the following ladies, for volunteering for officer positions: Secretary – Gina Adrian & Vice-President – Megan Limbach, Melissa Koetting moved up to the position of President, from her role as V. P last year.

FANTASY NIGHT WINNERS:  Winners are posted at the end of these notes. We congratulate those lucky winners! We hope everyone enjoyed the evening! It was an amazingly successful event. More financial details later as bills are finalized.

They must bring a note on the day that the substitution is desired and must present it to the classroom teacher first thing in the morning. Please note that the “main entrée” is the protein item. For example, if our meal is vegetable soup with grilled cheese & string cheese, the substitution would be for the cheese sandwich & string cheese, not for the vegetable soup.

Also, if you have items for the Friday notes, please write these items up, send them in, or email them to rosie@radiowire.net (call to let me know you have emailed please).
