Friday Newsletter (on Thursday) 3-25-2021

 

THE WEEK AHEAD:

RESCHEDULED!! PRESCHOOL & KINDERGARTEN INFORMATIONAL MEETINGS:We will host our annual Preschool and Kindergarten Informational meetings on Tuesday, March 30th (was scheduled for March 23). This year we will be doing it a little differently. If you have a Preschooler or Kindergartner, please call the school office to set up at time. Time slots will be in 15 minute intervals from 5:00 – 7:00 pm, with more slots opening later in the evening, if needed. Along with the classroom meeting, time will be allowed for new families to meet with Mr. Akin.

ONLINE ADMISSIONS, ENROLLMENT & RE-ENROLLMENT are now open. To access this through your family portal, just log in as normal, Along the left-hand side of the homepage, scroll down to the last option “Apply/Enroll”, click on ENROLLMENT/RE-ENROLLMENT and follow prompts from there. If you have a new student (for example, a new preschooler) click on “APPLICATION”, and follow the prompts from there. If you have any questions about online re-enrollment, please contact Rosie in the office. Be especially careful to designate those who will be normally be picking up your child after school in the ‘Authorized Contact/Pick-up” area.

EASTER EGG HUNT: We are asking families to send in one dozen candy-filled eggs per child in the family for the Easter egg hunt on Wednesday, March 31st. All eggs should contain only pre-wrapped candy (i.e. no loose M & Ms, jellybeans, etc.) If you have not already done so, please send eggs into the classroom this MONDAY.  The 7/8 Graders will be hiding the eggs for the kiddos, so if you have extra treats, please remember them! Thank you!

STAY LIT! In anticipation of Easter, and staying “lit” with the fire of our baptism, we would like all students and staff to wear their “Stay Lit” T-shirts for Mass on Wednesday (These shirts were passed out during CSW to all students/staff). However, other than the T-shirt, we would like all students to wear normal dress code (no dress down) due to the celebration of Mass.

MARCH EXT CARE BILLS will be sent home on Friday, April 9th, and emailed out earlier that week.

FINAL BILLS: As we get closer to the end of the school year, please pay close attention to any statements, billings, etc that are sent out. Also, if your child has any items missing, for example, uniforms, chromebook charging cords, textbooks, you will be charged for those. Final grade cards, 8th grade diplomas, and finalized re-enrollment, will be held until all fees are paid in full, unless otherwise arranged through contact with Mr. Akin & Father Cal.

 SHILOH DANCE WORK SIGN-UP is in today’s folder. Please help out if you are able. The dance is scheduled for April 24th. 2

2019-2020 & 2020-2021 YEARBOOK ORDER FORMS are in today’s folder. Please remit by Tuesday, April 6th.

8TH GRADE GRADUATION – CHANGE OF DATE!! Graduation has been moved to Tuesday, May 11th, beginning with the 6:00 Mass, with reception following in the gym.

8th GRADE PARENTS/STUDENTS: Jess Adrian, Cole R-V counselor, will be here this upcoming Tuesday morning @ 7:45 am to talk to the 8th graders and parents (if desired) about picking classes, 4 yr. plan, extracurricular activities, etc. The meeting should last about an hour. Please make plans to attend.

8th GRADE PARENTS: Please send in 10-15 pictures of your student, from little on, for the graduation slideshow by April 12th.

SHOW ME SUDZ: Flyers/order forms were sent home last Friday. Please everyone try to sell at least a few items.This fundraiser will run through April 11th, with orders/payments to be turned in Monday, April 12th. Please collect payment at time of order, with checks payable to OLOS. The product will be delivered on 18th. Thanks for your support!

LAST DAY OF SCHOOL PLANS: Due to recent snow days, OLOS School will be in session through Thursday, May 13, 2021. This will change if we have more snow days, but final school day will be no later than May 14th. On the last day – tentatively Thursday – we will have Mass at 8:00 am, with Awards & Preschool graduation following in church. All school parents & community members are welcome to attend! After awards, we will enjoy a Field Day, with dismissal at 3:15

FIELD DAY PLANS: As previously mentioned, we will have Field Day activities throughout the afternoon on Thursday, May 13th, our tentative last day of school. We are planning some fun things for the day. Some of the bigger attractions will be a dunking booth with at least one VIP to dunk (!), a grilled hot dog picnic lunch, a 72 foot inflatable obstacle course, and snow cones, with other activities along the way. Marie & Brittney Massman, former PK teacher & former student/alumnus) are planning these activities for us, and we really appreciate their efforts! More information will be coming out soon.

RICE BOWLS can be turned in as the season of Lent ends March 31st. The big Rice Bowl box for collections will be in the back of church. If you are unable to leave them at church, you may send them to school and we will make sure they get taken over.

FREE MEALS FOR ALL STUDENTS EXTENDED– OFFICIAL PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT: Effective Monday, September 21, ALL students at Our Lady of the Snows School will be able to receive FREE lunch through DESE Seamless Summer Option and the USDA. The free meals will be available through the end of the school year. If your child does not attend OLOS School, you may request to pick up a free lunch for any child age 1 to 18. If you wish to order meals for children not enrolled in OLOS School, you will need to contact Carla Morris before 8:15 daily at 573-498-3574 to request the meals. Meal pickup will be at 11:30 am at the side parking lot nearest the kitchen (below M. H. bank). If you have any questions, please call the office at 573-498-3574. Thank you.

Please everyone try to sell at least a few items. If you refer to last weekend’s bulletin (insert enclosed in today’s folder), you will see that our parish shows a major income shortfall; at this time in the fiscal year it is $21,000 below our budgeted level You will also see that fundraisers helped to meet earlier shortfalls. ATTENTION 7TH GRADE PARENTS: The 7th grade families traditionally plan and host the 8th Grade graduation reception. Graduation has been set for Sunday, May 2nd, beginning with the 10:00 am Mass. Joan Doerhoff will be main coordinator.

STATIONS OF THE CROSS/4TH GRADE PRESENTATION: This upcoming Friday, the 19th, the 4th graders will be presenting their version of the Passion at the time of Stations, 2:15 on Friday. We are excited to see what they have in store for us!  Remember, all are welcome, and if you can’t be at church in person, join us on Facebook. This will be the last school sponsored Stations for this Lenten season.

CALLING ALL PARENTS! Our final Home & School meeting is coming up – scheduled for this Tuesday, March 9th at 6:00 pm. It takes involvement and interest from ALL families to keep our school running smoothly, so please make plans now to attend this meeting. It’s also a great way to keep in touch with all the great things going on in your child’s classrooms. Remember, you will get a bonus dress down pass for your child for attending!
