Please make special note of the items needed from home on some of the days. Again, do not feel like you have to send in items on all of the designated days – one or two is fine. We just want everyone to know that even if you sent in your sign up late or not at all, we encourage ALL STUDENTS and families to attend this Mass, and for students to sit with their class in the front of church. We have been told that Bishop Gaydos will be celebrating this special Mass, due to the fact that Father Pat has been ill. Let us welcome Bishop Gaydos with a great kick-off to Catholic School’s Week.

CATHOLIC SCHOOLS’ WEEK is fast approaching – Jan 30- Feb. 5. We have many activities planned, beginning with Mass and a carry in meal on Saturday, Jan. 30th. Details are included in today’s folder. Please make special note of the items needed from home on some of the days. Again, do not feel like you have to send in items on all of the designated days – one or two is fine. Also, drivers still needed to send 1st & 2nd to Miller Co. Nursing Home on Wed., Feb. 3rd. If we do not have enough drivers by this upcoming Monday, an alternate activity will be planned; so let us know as soon as possible if you would be able to drive.

VALENTINE’S PARTIES will be Friday, Feb. 12th @ 1:30 pm. Enclosed in today’s folder is a list of room parents. We count on YOU to make the classroom parties fun for all, through making sure there are refreshments and activities planned. Thanks so much, in advance, for all you do!

WELLNESS POLICY:  A copy of the school’s Wellness Policy is kept on file in the school office and available for public review.

BOX TOPS:  Gina will be sending in our next batch of Box Tops at the end of February. Please clip & send in! Thank you!

DONATION:  The school received a monetary donation through the diocese from an anonymous donor in the amount of $8,100.00. This note was included with the check… “The enclosed check is your parish’s portion of the generosity of an anonymous donor.  The donor asked that these funds be used to help with school expenses.”  Please pray for God’s blessings on this anonymous donor!
CLARIFICATION FOR DRESS DOWN DAYS:  We have recently noticed an increase in tight leggings on the girls in the upper grades on dress down days. This is not acceptable on regular dress code days; neither is it acceptable on dress down days. Though the published dress code does not currently explicitly say tight leggings are not permitted on dress down days, it is implied from the fact that on regular dress code days these are not permitted. Henceforth, no form fitting leggings, jeggings, tights, or yoga pants will be allowed on dress down days. If in doubt – DO NOT WEAR IT! Further violations will result in revocation of all dress down privileges. Exception – as stated in dress code policy in handbook – Stretch pants may be worn in Kindergarten through 2nd grade.

8TH GRADE RETREAT:  The 8th graders will be on retreat in Folk on Thursday, February 11th. Further information and the permission form for those five students may be found in today’s folder.

STAFF/VOLUNTEER LUNCHEON – sign up can be found in today’s folder. Thanks, in advance, to all who help out with this!

ITALIAN FEAST: Please keep trying to sell dinner tickets and hang flyers! If you need additional tickets, please contact the office. All money & unsold tickets need to be turned into the office by January 25th, 2016.

LOOKING AHEAD:  OLOS School is seeking someone to eventually take over coordination of ballgames, including scheduling workers for games & stocking concessions. Gina Adrian is currently in charge of this position, but it would be a good idea to have someone work with Gina for a year, so that the transition would be easier. It would be great if a parent of a middle school aged child would take this over. Contact the office or Gina with questions or to volunteer.

HAVE A GREAT WINTER WEEKEND!

MEDICATION AT SCHOOL: We do not have a “stock supply” of medications for students. You may choose to send in a pain reliever or other types of medicine for your child. Make sure to clearly mark the container(s), and send a note giving staff permission to dispense the medication, with explicit dosage instructions and dosage cups/spoons. These will be locked up in the office. Sometimes having medicine available here for your child can mean not having to come after him/her or making a special trip to bring medications.

DEADLINE FOR FRIDAY NOTES: Thursdays, 9:00 am. All non-school related flyers need to be copied ahead of time on paper (the school cannot afford to supply paper for outside events). Upon approval by the principal, the information will then be placed in the Friday folder as a courtesy. It is not appropriate for the school to send out extraneous information that can be handled other ways. Also, if you have items for the Friday notes, please write these items up, send them in, or email them to rosie@radiowire.net (call to let me know you have emailed please). I don’t mind doing a little editing and rewording, but the bulk of the item should be outlined with details.
