Attendees get the opportunity to participate in many new learning experiences to help them reach their full potential. Along with doing well academically, Shane has many hobbies, including basketball, video games, and playing with his dog, Jax. He likes going to school at OLOS because he likes the community spirit.  Shane’s favorite subject is Spelling, and his least favorite is Social Studies. When asked what occupation he might work toward as he goes through his school years, he says he’s not really sure yet but he has many interests! We are so proud of Shane and congratulate him for his outstanding conduct and academic achievements!

SPOTLIGHT ON STAFF – Our Lady of the Snows School is very blessed to have such devoted, hard-working, and experienced staff members who have dedicated their careers to the children and families of Our Lady of the Snows community.  We will spotlight a different staff member in the bulletin each week. This week's spotlight is on Gracie Evers, alumnus and morning extended care attendant and Roxanne Schulte, our parish office manager. Let them tell you about themselves, in their own words.

Gracie Evers:   "Hi, my name is Gracie Evers, and my hometown is Mary's Home!  I am 18 years old, and I live with my parents and both of my siblings.  I have an older sister, Arianna, age 22 and a young brother, Braden who is 12.  I graduated from Our Lady of the Snows School, Mary's Home, in 2018, and I am now a senior at Cole R-V High School in Eugene.  I have worked at Marshall's & HyVee.  Now I work at Grub and Scrub in addition to working at OLOS every school morning from 6:30-7:30 am.  I like to spend time with my family and friends when I am not working.  I choose to work at OLOS because I love little kids, and I know what a great school this is.  I also love how small it is.  My favorite thing about working at OLOS is seeing all of the kids.  They always have something new to tell me!"

Roxanne Schulte:  "Hi, my name is Roxanne Schulte, and I was born and raised in St. Thomas MO.  My parents are the late Stanley and Mary Kay Brand of St. Thomas.  I am the youngest of four children with two brothers and one sister.  I married Mike Schulte on September 30, 2000, and moved to Mary's Home.  We have three boys-Sheldon, Cody, & Ethan and will soon have a daughter-in-law, Rebekah Kempker, in April 2022.  We also have two family pets, our dogs Cocoa & Lucy.  I attended grade school at St. Thomas the Apostle School and graduated from high school at Blair Oaks.  I worked for the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services for almost 15 years before I came here to Our Lady of the Snows as the Parish Secretary/Bookkeeper in April 2014 and have now worked here for eight years.  I like to spend time with my family, friends, and dogs.  I like fishing, swimming, camping, -anything to be by the water!  I like traveling, too, when time allows.  When I started, Fr. Pat Shortt, was our pastor, and I really liked him and for all he did for our wonderful community.  I wanted to be part of that.  I wanted to be able to help and to give back to the Church and the people of this community.  I have learned so much and enjoy working for the Church and the School.  Since I wasn't raised here, my favorite thing about working at Our Lady of the Snows is being able to get to know people and learn about their family genealogy, and the small-town camaraderie!"

Please return your folder on Monday.

Have a wonderful winter weekend!

This week's spotlight is on Kristina Wright, our Grades 5/6 teacher.   "Hi, my name is Kristina Wright, and I grew up just down the highway in Eldon.  I have lived in a few different places in my life, but ultimately found myself back in the Eldon area to raise my family around those that are special to both my husband and me.  I have been married to my husband, Jake, for eight years, and we have three daughters, Allyssa, McKinley, and Claire.  Most of my close family lives in the Eugene and Mary's Home area.  This is where my mom, Debbie Koetting Fair, grew up and where I spent a lot of my childhood.  I have always loved this community!  I have only recently ventured into teaching., starting as a substitute for both Our Lady of the Snows and Eldon schools.  I started substitute teaching for OLOS in 2019 when Marianna Werdehausen reached out to me in need of someone to cover her fourth grade class and that's when I fell in love with this school, its students and faculty.  It's funny, the first class that I EVER taught is now the 6th grade class that I am teaching full time.  Before teaching, I was a stay at home mom, moonlighting as a member of the Missouri Air Force National Guard.  I have also worked in advertising sales and reporting for both Vernon Publishing (Eldon Advertiser) and the Cass County Democrat in Harrisonville, Missouri.  I am in my 10th year with the Missouri Air National Guard.  My family and I stay very busy when I am not working.  I enjoy being present for all of my children's activities.  I love cheering them on in softball, cheerleading, dance, and our newest adventure, basketball.  We love to fish (I love to watch them fish), kayak, bake, and craft. I really love working with the children at Our Lady of the Snows!  I love the small class sizes, the small close knit feeling, and how you are immediately treated as family.  Everyone in this school wants you to succeed, and it shows in the way they treat each other.  We are all family, and we are all here to help the children to grow both in Christ and academically!"

PROPANE THAT PAYS… Propane is projected to cost much more this winter. Ordering early can help offset some of this cost for you. This is the time of year when many people like to fill propane tanks or prepay. If you are or would like to be a customer of Capital Energy Co, please LET THEM KNOW that you are a member of OLOS parish (They cannot issue a donation on the customer’s behalf unless the customer tells them they are a member of the parish.) The parish receives a percentage for every gallon the customer buys, and usually have some of the cheaper prices in the area. Last year the parish received nearly $1000. That’s worthwhile! Thank you for your support!

Please return your folder on Monday.

Have a wonderful winter weekend!

SPOTLIGHT ON STAFF – CATCH UP! Our Lady of the Snows School is very blessed to have such devoted, hard-working, and experienced staff members who have dedicated their careers to the children and families of Our Lady of the Snows community.  We will spotlight a different staff member in the bulletin each week.

Our first spotlight is on Tricia Berendzen Belshe, our Kindergarten/Gr. 1 teacher.  "My name is Tricia Berendzen Belshe, and I was born and raised in Mary's Home.  My parents are the late Clarence and Dorothy Berendzen of Mary's Home.  I was the seventh child of eight.  I have five brothers (Chuck, Terry, Doug, Bruce, and Alan Berendzen) and two sisters (Bev Koetting and Pam Porting).  As a child I attended Our Lady of the Snows School.  I have many wonderful memories of my childhood in Mary's Home.  It is a wonderful town with wonderful people.  I attended the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg where I achieved a double major in Early Childhood and Elementary Education K-8.  In 2001 I received my Masters in Education with a focus in literacy from MU.  This is my thirty-first year in the classroom.  My first year was at Mary's Home teaching third and fourth grade.  I taught second grade for twelve years,  and then I was the Title I Reading Specialist K-Gr. 6 at Cole R-V in Eugene for seventeen years.  I have been trained in balanced literacy, the Missouri Reading Initiative, Reading Recovery, and the Wilson's Reading/Fundation's Phonics program.  I love watching children grow and excel in reading!  Early intervention is the key to academic success.  My classroom instruction is filled with singing, games, and hands-on activities, as I do my best to make learning fun for my students.  My favorite activities are spending time with my family, crafting, shopping and boating.  I live on a farm in Henley, Missouri, with my husband, Marcus.  We have three children, Loren Belshe and soon to be daughter-in-law Hannah Beachner, Alexa Belshe, and Blake Belshe.  I love spending time with them and am proud of all of their accomplishments.  This is my first year back at Mary's Home.  I love the small community feeling at OLOS and the friendly students and staff.  Being able to share God's love is one of the most important life lessons.  Life eternal is our ultimate goal!  I love that I am working in the same small town that I grew up in!  The small town feel, the Christmas parade, and the friendly community makes Mary's Home seem like a real Hallmark movie!'

Our second staff spotlight is on Steve Jannetti music teacher and Mass vocalist/musician/choir coordinator: "Hi, my name is Steve Jannetti, and my hometown is Stony Creek, Connecticut.  I am the oldest of two boys.  My wife, Valerie, and I have three sons:  Josh 26, Matt 25, and Jake 23.  I enjoy gardening, walking, biking, and cooking.  I have enjoyed sharing some of my cooking with the OLOS students and the staff!  I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Music & Voice and my teaching certification from the University of Connecticut.  My post graduate studies are in early Church music.  I have been working for the Church for 42 years as an organist, choir director, and teacher.  I have been teaching at OLOS for 8 months.  I chose to teach at OLOS because of the size of the classes.  I love the smiles of all the students and those special moments when they find their own joy in music!"

Our third spotlight is on Sara Beck, one of our three young ladies who help out in our extended care program:  "Hi, I am Sara Beck, and I am one of the afternoon extended caregivers.  I have grown up in Mary's Home.  My mom and dad are Missy and Charlie Beck.  I have an older brother named Sam and a younger brother named Shane.  I attended grade school at Our Lady of the Snows School.  I now attend high school at Cole R-V in Eugene.  In addition to the three years that I have worked at OLOS School, I have worked at Dick's Sporting Goods.  I like to play volleyball and hang out with friends and family.  I choose to work at Our Lady of the Snows School because of the tightness of the community and all of the support you get!  My favorite thing about working at OLOS is getting to spend time with the kids!"

Please return your folder on Monday.

Have a wonderful winter weekend!
