CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK PLANS ARE BEING MADE! Thanks so much to Mrs. Groose, who has worked hard this week to coordinate our CSW activities. You will find a few items dealing with CSW in today’s folder. Please look for:

·          The flyer – detailing the daily activities. If you have any ideas or activities to add to this, we would LOVE for you to let us know and we will try to incorporate them into the week, if possible.

·          Staff Luncheon Sign-up – asking for help and donations to show appreciation to staff and volunteers.

·          Favorite Things – Staff/Volunteer favorites may be found on the back of the flyer,

·          Envelope with your Child’s Name: This is for you, parents, to write a letter to each of your children, telling them how special they are to you and some of your favorite things about your child that you want them to know. Letters will be given to students on Friday, Feb. 4th, which is Student Day. Please return your letters to school by Monday, Jan. 31st in the sealed envelope.

·          Letter from Principal – outlining the kick-off Mass and asking for volunteers for the ministry on Jan. 30 – 10 am Mass.

STUDENTS will each be making a birthday cake kit to send to a local charity during CSW, therefore; each family is asked to send in ONE CAKE MIX and ONE TUB OF ICING FOR EACH CHILD IN FAMILY. Staff are being asked to supply disposable cake pans Students will get to add balloons, candles and make a card for each. Flavors of cake and icing are up to you and your child. March 10th will no longer be a half day – we will be in session a full day.

ST. VALENTINE PARTIES: Our last party of the year will be for St. Valentine’s Day, Monday, February 14th at 2:00 pm. We count on our great room parents to coordinate refreshments and games. On the reverse you will find the list of room parents, for planning purposes. Thank you for being great!

PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDAR for the afternoon of Friday, April 22, as we are planning a fun reunion for all former staff members of OLOSS.

JANUARY: Our January morning prayer is The Act of Faith, and our January Christskill is Manners/Politeness.

SPOTLIGHT ON STAFF – Our Lady of the Snows School is very blessed to have such devoted, hard-working, and experienced staff members who have dedicated their careers to the children and families of Our Lady of the Snows community.  We will spotlight a different staff member in the bulletin each week. This week's spotlight is on Gracie Evers, alumnus and morning extended care attendant and Roxanne Schulte, our parish office manager. Let them tell you about themselves, in their own words.

Gracie Evers:   "Hi, my name is Gracie Evers, and my hometown is Mary's Home!  I am 18 years old, and I live with my parents and both of my siblings.  I have an older sister, Arianna, age 22 and a young brother, Braden who is 12.  I graduated from Our Lady of the Snows School, Mary's Home, in 2018, and I am now a senior at Cole R-V High School in Eugene.  I have worked at Marshall's & HyVee.  Now I work at Grub and Scrub in addition to working at OLOS every school morning from 6:30-7:30 am.  I like to spend time with my family and friends when I am not working.  I choose to work at OLOS because I love little kids, and I know what a great school this is.  I also love how small it is.  My favorite thing about working at OLOS is seeing all of the kids.  They always have something new to tell me!"

Roxanne Schulte:  "Hi, my name is Roxanne Schulte, and I was born and raised in St. Thomas MO.  My parents are the late Stanley and Mary Kay Brand of St. Thomas.  I am the youngest of four children with two brothers and one sister.  I married Mike Schulte on September 30, 2000, and moved to Mary's Home.  We have three boys-Sheldon, Cody, & Ethan and will soon have a daughter-in-law, Rebekah Kempker, in April 2022.  We also have two family pets, our dogs Cocoa & Lucy.  I attended grade school at St. Thomas the Apostle School and graduated from high school at Blair Oaks.  I worked for the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services for almost 15 years before I came here to Our Lady of the Snows as the Parish Secretary/Bookkeeper in April 2014 and have now worked here for eight years.  I like to spend time with my family, friends, and dogs.  I like fishing, swimming, camping, -anything to be by the water!  I like traveling, too, when time allows.  When I started, Fr. Pat Shortt, was our pastor, and I really liked him and for all he did for our wonderful community.  I wanted to be part of that.  I wanted to be able to help and to give back to the Church and the people of this community.  I have learned so much and enjoy working for the Church and the School.  Since I wasn't raised here, my favorite thing about working at Our Lady of the Snows is being able to get to know people and learn about their family genealogy, and the small-town camaraderie!"

Please return your folder on Monday.

Have a wonderful winter weekend!
