SPOTLIGHT ON STAFF – CATCH UP! Our Lady of the Snows School is very blessed to have such devoted, hard-working, and experienced staff members who have dedicated their careers to the children and families of Our Lady of the Snows community.  We will spotlight a different staff member in the bulletin each week.

Our first spotlight is on Tricia Berendzen Belshe, our Kindergarten/Gr. 1 teacher.  "My name is Tricia Berendzen Belshe, and I was born and raised in Mary's Home.  My parents are the late Clarence and Dorothy Berendzen of Mary's Home.  I was the seventh child of eight.  I have five brothers (Chuck, Terry, Doug, Bruce, and Alan Berendzen) and two sisters (Bev Koetting and Pam Porting).  As a child I attended Our Lady of the Snows School.  I have many wonderful memories of my childhood in Mary's Home.  It is a wonderful town with wonderful people.  I attended the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg where I achieved a double major in Early Childhood and Elementary Education K-8.  In 2001 I received my Masters in Education with a focus in literacy from MU.  This is my thirty-first year in the classroom.  My first year was at Mary's Home teaching third and fourth grade.  I taught second grade for twelve years,  and then I was the Title I Reading Specialist K-Gr. 6 at Cole R-V in Eugene for seventeen years.  I have been trained in balanced literacy, the Missouri Reading Initiative, Reading Recovery, and the Wilson's Reading/Fundation's Phonics program.  I love watching children grow and excel in reading!  Early intervention is the key to academic success.  My classroom instruction is filled with singing, games, and hands-on activities, as I do my best to make learning fun for my students.  My favorite activities are spending time with my family, crafting, shopping and boating.  I live on a farm in Henley, Missouri, with my husband, Marcus.  We have three children, Loren Belshe and soon to be daughter-in-law Hannah Beachner, Alexa Belshe, and Blake Belshe.  I love spending time with them and am proud of all of their accomplishments.  This is my first year back at Mary's Home.  I love the small community feeling at OLOS and the friendly students and staff.  Being able to share God's love is one of the most important life lessons.  Life eternal is our ultimate goal!  I love that I am working in the same small town that I grew up in!  The small town feel, the Christmas parade, and the friendly community makes Mary's Home seem like a real Hallmark movie!'

Our second staff spotlight is on Steve Jannetti music teacher and Mass vocalist/musician/choir coordinator: "Hi, my name is Steve Jannetti, and my hometown is Stony Creek, Connecticut.  I am the oldest of two boys.  My wife, Valerie, and I have three sons:  Josh 26, Matt 25, and Jake 23.  I enjoy gardening, walking, biking, and cooking.  I have enjoyed sharing some of my cooking with the OLOS students and the staff!  I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Music & Voice and my teaching certification from the University of Connecticut.  My post graduate studies are in early Church music.  I have been working for the Church for 42 years as an organist, choir director, and teacher.  I have been teaching at OLOS for 8 months.  I chose to teach at OLOS because of the size of the classes.  I love the smiles of all the students and those special moments when they find their own joy in music!"

Our third spotlight is on Sara Beck, one of our three young ladies who help out in our extended care program:  "Hi, I am Sara Beck, and I am one of the afternoon extended caregivers.  I have grown up in Mary's Home.  My mom and dad are Missy and Charlie Beck.  I have an older brother named Sam and a younger brother named Shane.  I attended grade school at Our Lady of the Snows School.  I now attend high school at Cole R-V in Eugene.  In addition to the three years that I have worked at OLOS School, I have worked at Dick's Sporting Goods.  I like to play volleyball and hang out with friends and family.  I choose to work at Our Lady of the Snows School because of the tightness of the community and all of the support you get!  My favorite thing about working at OLOS is getting to spend time with the kids!"

Please return your folder on Monday.

Have a wonderful winter weekend!
