GRACIOUS THANK YOU! Thanks to all those who donated towards the cemetery lights for All Saints. If you were able to see the cemetery either night, you know it really looked nice!

MUFFINS WITH MOM! Calling all moms! Now it’s time for you to mark your calendar for Wednesday, November 14th, when we will celebrate Mass and afterwards move over to school for fun and fellowship. If mom can’t make it, a “substitute mom” may attend. We look forward to having our moms at school!

BASKETBALL: This school year we will have a 4-6th grade boys’ basketball team (coached by Josh Lage) and a 6-8th grade girls’ basketball team (coached by Brittany Goetz).  Teams are based on number of available students in each grade, and eligible grades in each league.  Parents of boys’ team players – you will find an athletic packet, to be filled out completely by you and your player. This packet, along with a current physical & the $20 per family sports fee, must be on file in the school office in order for the athlete to participate in practices. Be on the look-out next year as we may be forming more teams!
ROOM PARENTS – Thank you for the great Halloween parties! You did a great job! Also, great thanks to those who sponsored the Halloween Walk – The Corner Market, OLOS Credit Union, Fr. Alex, Evers Machine, Mary’s Home Bank, Marie Massman, Darryl Love & Dianne Goetz. We appreciate their generosity!

GERBES COMMUNITY REWARDS: The school recently received a check from Gerbes in the amount of $41.22. See note below on how you can help with this fundraising effort.

GERBES:  OLOS is enrolled in the Gerbes “Community Rewards” program. This program offers money back to our school, based on enrolled customer’s spending. It is a really easy process. You just tie your Gerbes shopper’s card to our school account. If you don’t have a Gerbes shopper’s card, it takes less than a minute to get one at the store and also online. All the information needed to complete this process is online. @ www.gerbes.com/communityrewards. Our school code is 48253. It takes just a couple minutes so get all your family and friends to register as well! The school will receive quarterly payments in cash form. We will update you as we receive those funds. This has the potential to be a huge moneymaker for the school – the key is to get many, many people involved. Please pass the word to family and friends and thanks for supporting OLOS School!!!

OLOSS “BEE” KIND CLUB: Students who were recognized for acts of kindness and generosity on 10/25 were: PK – Elsie Schulte – comforting a friend who was sad, K – Oliver Hagenhoff – picked up trash that wasn’t his, 1st – Ryan Russell – for helping a preschooler on the swings,  2nd – Landon Backues – being a good example in church, 3rd – Clarice Whittle – including a student at recess, 4th – Adam Schulte – sharing creativity in class – awesome pictures and stories, 5th – Oliver Burrows – for immediately helping clean up a water spill & always being helpful, Oliver Burrows – cleaning up a water mess before school, 6th – Phoebe  Whittle – shared candy with people who didn’t have any & helping a classmate, 7th – Ethan Schulte – sharing his ball at recess, 8th – Jordan Bittle – welcoming his teacher with a smile and a “good morning”. All acts of kindness “bees” are displayed in the school cafeteria. (Note – the first student listed in each grade is kindness noted by the classroom teacher. If any additional are listed, they have been noted by other members of the staff.) Great job, students!
PICK-UP/DROP-OFF: PLEASE DO NOT PARK IN THE PICK-UP/DROP-OFF LINE. If you are coming into the school building with your child, please park in a parking spot and walk in. If you are in the line and need to step out of your car to get kids unbuckled and out, this is OK, but never park and leave your vehicle in the line. To do so is very disruptive to traffic flow.

SANTA STORE: We will have a Santa Store again this December, and are asking for donations. Donated items may be new or gently used - items for moms, dad, siblings, grandparents, etc. We usually run short on men and boy items. Please send any donation anytime. Thank you very much!

SCHOOL CHRISTMAS PROGRAM: The date has been set for the school Christmas program – Thursday, December 6th at 6:30 pm. The make-up date will be Sunday, December 9th at 10:30 am.

BLESS THE BABY JESUS! OLOSS students will be able to bring the Baby Jesus from your home Nativity set to Mass on Wednesday, December 19th for blessing. Father Alex will do this blessing sometime during the Mass that morning. If you do not have or do not wish your child to bring a fragile piece, please find and fill out the form in today’s folder. We would like all school children to have a Baby Jesus to bless.

ATHLETIC COMMITTEE FORMING: It was decided at the H & S mtg to form an athletic committee. The first Athletic Committee meeting will be November 6th in the School Cafeteria from 6-7 pm. Anyone interested is invited to attend.

ATTENTION PARENTS OF OLOSS ATHLETES:  A parent of each athlete in our school MUST attend a “Play Like a Champion” training in order for their child to play sports this school year. The next offered training is at St. Francis Xavier, Taos on November 14th, from 5:30 – 6:30 pm. There is a $10 charge, to be paid by the parent. Please let Mr. Vandike if you are attending, so that enough materials are available that night. There is also a three-hour mandatory coaches training on Tuesday, November 13th, from 5:30 – 8:30 pm at Taos. The school will cover the $25 cost of this training.

VOLLEYBALL PLAYERS: Please return your uniform as soon as possible. Place them in a bag with your name on them. They will be kept in the office until it is time to take team pictures.
