Regarding the dress down in orange/black day – we do have MASS that morning. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR CHILD’S CLOTHING IS APPROPRIATE FOR MASS. CHRISTMAS MEAL: OLOS School students & staff will enjoy a Christmas Luncheon with volunteers in attendance on Thursday, December 13th. This meal has customarily been served before Thanksgiving, but for various reasons, it was decided to move it to December.

All acts of kindness “bees” are displayed in the school cafeteria. (Note – the first student listed in each grade is kindness noted by the classroom teacher. If any additional are listed, they have been noted by other members of the staff.) Great job, students!

SANTA STORE: We will have a Santa Store again this December, and are asking for donations. Donated items may be new or gently used - items for moms, dad, siblings, grandparents, etc. We usually run short on men and boy items. Please send any donation anytime. Thank you very much!

ROOM PARENTS: Please feel free to reach out to ALL classroom parents for needed items, possibly going down the class list and dividing up responsibilities for the three parties.   Halloween parties should begin after the “walk”, usually around 2:00 pm, on Oct. 31st. Thanks for all you do in making our classroom parties so much fun!

PARISH MISSION: After Saturday evening Mass on Saturday, Oct. 27th, Mr. Frank Runyeon will be presenting “Sermon on the Mount”, as a parish mission. A flyer is enclosed in today’s folder. All parents & students are highly encouraged to attend. It should be very interesting!

EARLY BILLING: Due to the end of the month falling mid-week next week, we went ahead and sent out November preschool and extended care (regular attendees) bills in today’s folder. Payment is not due until the first of the month.

CEMETERY LIGHTS: Like last year, the school children will be placing the lights (tea lights) on all the stone markers in the cemetery on the eve of All Saints (Halloween), to stay lit through All Souls. FATHER ALEX WILL LEAD THE PROCESSION TO THE CEMETERY, WITH THE LITANY OF THE SAINTS, AFTER MASS ON WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 31, ALL ARE INVITED TO JOIN US.! This activity goes back to a tradition originating in Germany where people lit candles and placed them on the graves of their loved ones, letting them burn throughout the night before All Saints, representing the “light of the holy souls”.

HOME & SCHOOL UPDATE: Thanks to all the parents and staff who attended the meeting on Tuesday evening. Many topics were discussed with new ideas being offered. The Shiloh 21 & over dance is set for Sat., Jan. 12, from 7:30 – 11:30., with doors opening at 7:00. We welcome newly appointed officers: Tracey Backes – Treasurer, Brittany Goetz – Secretary, & Melissa Koetting – Vice-President. Roselyn Wood serves as President. Fr. Alex addressed the parents with a letter of appreciation and concerns and reviewed a handout outlining how parents can take a more active role in their child’s learning. Both of these are enclosed in today’s folder, in case you weren’t able to be at the meeting.

ATHLETIC COMMITTEE FORMING: It was decided at the H & S mtg to form an athletic committee. The first Athletic Committee meeting will be November 6th in the School Cafeteria from 6-7 pm. Anyone interested is invited to attend.

ATTENTION PARENTS OF OLOSS ATHLETES:  A parent of each athlete in our school MUST attend a “Play Like a Champion” training in order for their child to play sports this school year. The next offered training is at St. Francis Xavier, Taos on November 14th, from 5:30 – 6:30 pm. There is a $10 charge, to be paid by the parent. Please let Mr. Vandike if you are attending, so that enough materials are available that night. There is also a three-hour mandatory coaches training on Tuesday, November 13th, from 5:30 – 8:30 pm at Taos. The school will cover the $25 cost of this training.

VOLLEYBALL PLAYERS: Please return your uniform as soon as possible. Place them in a bag with your name on them. They will be kept in the office until it is time to take team pictures.
