SPIRIT WEEK: This week of November 21st we will
celebrate Spirt Week, to kick off the basketball season here at OLOS. Monday
will be “Mixed Up Monday”, when your child may wear their clothes backwards,
unmatched, etc. Tuesday will be “School Pride Day”, when your child must wear
blue & gold to dress down (players may wear their uniforms with sleeved
T-shirts), and for Wednesday each class picked their own theme for the ½ day.
Please keep the spirit of the dress down days, by not allowing your child to
wear anything questionable. If in doubt, don’t wear it. Classroom themes for
Wednesday are:
PK – Pajama Day (no slippers, wear sneakers
please)
K – Pajama Day (no slippers, wear sneakers
please)
1/2 – Pajama Day (no slippers, wear sneakers
please)
3/4 – Sports Day
5/6 – Hunting/Camo or Favorite Color
7/8 – Hunting Day
CHRISTMAS PARADE FLOAT: The Mary’s Home
Christmas Parade is scheduled for Saturday, December 17th, after the
5:00 pm Mass. If your child wants to
ride, please send a note to the office, Also
– we will need donations of candy to throw. Please send to school office. Thanks
to those who sent in already and thank you for your support!
MORE FLOAT NEWS: Jay Harms has kindly offered
to get the float ready early if we want to enter into the Eldon Parade on December 10th. The parade begins at 3:00
pm. Please fill out enclosed signup sheet showing your interest.
REMINDER – NO AFTERNOON EXTENDED CARE SERVICES OFFERED THIS WEDNESDAY,
NOVEMBER 23RD, DUE TO THANKSGIVING BREAK.
SANTA STORE: The Santa Store is scheduled for Tuesday,
December 13th. We are in need of several volunteers to be “Santa’s elves” – wrapping presents &
helping students shop. Please let Rosie know if you can help out. Please begin
sending in any items you may have accumulated/purchased for the Santa Store. Especially
needed are men and boy gifts. Also needed are gift bags, tape, wrapping
supplies, etc. Help is also needed to set
up the Santa Store on Sunday, December 11th, after the 10:00 am
Mass. Thank you for your support!
CHRISTMAS GIFTS: This year, students will be
exchanging gifts within the classroom. Girls should buy for girls and boys buy
for boys – with the value of the gift being $5. They will exchange their gifts
at the Christmas party on Wed., Dec. 21st. We will also have a
special visitor that morning around 9:00 am!
HOMEMADE COOKIES/CHRISTMAS PROGRAM: We are asking that all school
families send in two dozen homemade cookies on Friday, December 2nd,
to serve as refreshments for the school Christmas program. Remind family & friends who can’t make it to the program on
December 4th that we do have a full dress rehearsal scheduled for
Thursday, December 1st, after the morning Mass (9:30 am). All
students not in costume please wear Sunday best for the program that Sunday.
MANY THANKS to Sara Kempker, for the huge donation of
office supplies. We really appreciate it!
ITALIAN FEAST NEWS: The next Italian
Feast meeting will be December 13th at 6:30 in the computer lab. We
will pack up the Santa Store during this meeting. Class basket themes will be
coming home in the folders on Wednesday. Each student is asked to bring in an
item for their classroom basket valued at $5 or more.
DECEMBER CALENDAR: The calendar will be updated
and sent home, showing basketball games as soon as we get that information.
NCYC NEW YEARS EVE SHILOH DANCE: Please see
insert in today’s folder. Tickets are for sale now. You may request tickets
from Rosie, from Christy Evers or from any NCYC youth.
OLOS SCHOOL IS ALSO SPONSORING A SHILOH DANCE ON JANUARY 21, 2017. Tickets will be sold at the door. Make plans now to help out and/or
attend.
LOOKING AHEAD: Next week is a short week, so there will be
no notes. There will be Midquarter reports (K-2) & sign-offs (3-8) coming
home on Wednesday. (Please look these over and return signed on Monday, after
Thanksgiving break.) From there we will transition into December, with the play
upon us. We ask for all goodwill and cooperation as we get into a very busy
time of year for all of us! We surely wish all families a very blessed and peaceful, family-filled, Happy Thanksgiving! We
will see you all back on Monday, November 28th!
