MANY THANKS to all the room parents who made the Halloween
parties so much fun. Monday parties are a little more to manage for parents –
but you did great! Special thanks to the businesses/people that “treat” our
students on the walk – The Corner Market, M. H. Bank, OLOS Credit Union, Father
Pat, Tim Evers Machine, the OLOS Faith Works youth group, along with other
individuals. We couldn’t do it without your support!
ALSO THANKS to Dianne Goetz, for the very generous
donation of snacks for the extended care program. WE APPRECIATE IT, DIANNE!
VIRTUS TRAINING: OLOS Parish will have a
local Virtus training class this Mon. Nov 7 at 6:30 in
the parish meeting room (annex). This is a great opportunity for all new school
parents, anyone involved in sports, classroom parents, parents going to
Washington D. C. on the pro-life trip, and anyone working with children to
attend this required class. To register, go to diojeffcity.org, scroll down,
click on “Office of Child & Youth Protection”, and follow the prompts.
BASKETBALL
PRACTICES THIS WEEK are now considered official practices and not
open gym. All forms, physicals & the $20 fee must be turned in before your
child will be allowed to practice. If you are missing any items, you will find
a reminder in today’s folder.
NEEDED:
5 flat screen computer monitors in good working condition for computer lab, no
size restrictions. Contact Mr. V if you would like to donate.
CALLING ALL INTERESTED IN CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK: There will be a CSW planning meeting on Monday, November 14th,
in the school cafeteria at 6:30 pm. CSW begins on Jan. 28, 2017, with the 5:00
pm Mass. We would like anyone interested and/or anyone with good ideas to come
to the meeting to help plan this celebration of our faith! All welcome!
HOME & SCHOOL MEETING: We will have a
Home & School meeting for all school parents on Thursday, November 10th,
beginning @ 6:00 pm, with a carry-in dinner. Fundraising – Fantasy Night &
Italian Feast will be discussed. This will be THE meeting to attend to discuss
any Fantasy Night or Italian Feast planning, as we are losing several families
(due to their last child graduating this year) that we heavily depend on for
fundraising efforts.
BASKETBALL & VOLLEYBALL team photos will
be taken on November 16th, along with FALL RETAKES and club photos. Sports picture order forms are in
today’s folder. Remember, if you are not satisfied with your child’s fall
portrait, please leave packet intact, and include a note as to what you would
like done differently, and return to the office as soon as possible, but BEFORE
NOV. 16TH. Students having retakes may dress for pictures but then
change into dress code after their picture is taken.
PATRIOTIC ROSARY HONORING VETERANS: OLOS
students and staff will pray a Patriotic Rosary on Friday morning, November 11th,
after morning Mass (approximately 8:30 am) at the flagpole, weather permitting
(alternate – gymnasium) ALL COMMUNITY MEMBERS ARE INTVITED TO JOIN US IN
HONORING AND PRAYING FOR OUR VETERANS AND COUNTRY. Please pass this invitation
on to your families, especially those who have or are currently serving our nation.
VOLLEYBALL GIRLS; Please return your uniforms
in a bag marked with your name on it. We will keep these in the office for you
until sports picture day – November 16th.
MARK YOUR CALENDAR: Italian Feast –
Feb. 4, 2017. Silent Auction items will once again be needed. Watch holiday
sales for things that would make good auction items – as each family is
expected to donate towards the auction. This will all be discussed at the H
& S meeting on November 10th.
REMINDER TO PARENTS OF STUDENTS BRINGING LUNCHES FROM HOME: Please see that your child’s lunch has
everything they need for their meal – DRINKS, plates, utensils, condiments,
napkins. The lunch program cannot afford to supply these things if the student
is not buying the daily lunch.
PROPANE THAT PAYS… This is the time of year when
many people like to fill propane tanks or prepay. If you are or would like to
be a customer of Capital Energy Co, contact them and please mention that you
are a member of OLOS parish. The parish receives a percentage for every gallon
the customer buys.
