PIONEER DAY is this Monday, October 13th. All students (and adults!) are encouraged to dress in pioneer clothing for the day. If the student chooses not to dress in pioneer clothing, the normal dress code is still in force.  Thanks to our great volunteers – Wendy Whittle, Bryan Evers, Melissa Koetting (morning), Brittany Goetz (morning) & Kim Evers. We ask that you join us at school by 7:45 am on Monday morning.  Volunteers – please find your job detail/schedule in today’s folder.

DONUTS WITH DAD: This Thursday, October 16th. Dads (or dad “subs”) you are invited to school between 7:00 & 7:30 to enjoy donuts with your kids in the school cafeteria. You are also invited to attend Mass with your child that morning or go on to work, as time permits.

SCHOOL PICTURE DAY is scheduled for Friday, October 17th. This is a dress “up” for picture day. All length and sleeve requirements are still in force.
PRESCHOOL PARENTS: If your child does not normally attend on Fridays, you are encouraged to bring your child at 8:00 am the morning of pictures, Friday, Oct. 17th. We will do the preschool photos first. Otherwise, there will be a retake day scheduled for later.

PLANNING MEETING: There is a planning meeting for the Shiloh Dance and Italian Feast on Tuesday Oct 14th at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria (or if it is in use, we will meet in Mrs. Groose's classroom).  All are welcome and encouraged to get involved.  Many hands make light work!!! Thanks! PLEASE FIND, FILL OUT, AND RETURN THE ENCLOSED WORK SIGN-UP FOR THIS EVENT.

COKE PRODUCTS: The school will begin collecting the Coke Rewards codes, found inside the cardboard container of the boxes and on caps of Coke products. Please clip these and send them in. The school can earn items for the school with redemption.

BOX TOPS:  Please send in all Box Tops and Best Choice labels that you may have accumulated. We will be sending them in for redemption at the end of October. Thank you!

FANTASY NIGHT: Congratulations to all Fantasy Night winners and a huge thank you to Fr. Pat, for donating his entire winnings of $5500 back to the school & parish! We appreciate it so much! Many thanks to all who worked so hard for this event, especially to Lynn Morgan, for her endless hours of planning. You will find a list of winners with today’s newsletter.

HALLOWEEN PARTIES/WALK:  Please find enclosed in today’s folder, permission forms for our annual walk. Please fill these out completely and return on Monday. All students are invited and encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes for the walk, but please no scary, evil or gory costumes. You will also find a list of room parents in today’s folder. Room parents – the teachers depend on you to plan activities and refreshments for the party. Please feel free to contact any classroom parent to help provide things needed for the party. The students will all have the opportunity to visit the “Haunted House”, sponsored by the 7th & 8th graders, if they so choose. We promise not to scare the little ones!

PALS FUN NIGHT has been postponed due to the Halloween dance at St. Peters this evening (Friday).

COMMITTEE FOR FAMILIES IN NEED: As a faith community, we are called to help those families in need of ongoing support due to health, financial, personal and other types of crises. We are asking for volunteers to form a committee to respond to the needs of these families – whether it be through coordinating/providing dinners, clothing, etc. Please contact the school office if you would like to help head up or help with this ongoing effort. We thank Melissa Koetting, Kim Evers, and Brittany Goetz, for volunteering for this committee to date.

SANTA STORE: The Santa Store is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 18th, during special classes. This is a special opportunity for our school children to shop for family members and they REALLY enjoy it. We are in need of donations of any kind, but most especially “dad” gifts, and brother/sister gifts. You can send those items in at any time. Also, we will need some helper elves to wrap gifts and help the students with shopping. Debbie Schulte & Wendy Whittle have volunteered to help out. If you are able to be here that day, please contact someone in the office.

STUDENT COUNCIL LEADER: We are asking one or two parent volunteers to work with the Student Council this year. The council generally meets once a month and sponsors other activities through the year. Please contact Mrs. Werdehausen with your offer to help.

MONTHLY CALENDARS: You were provided monthly calendars for the entire school year in your school handbook. We also post the calendar on our school website, which is updated with game information and recent changes/additions to the calendar. To save costs, we will no longer provide the calendar in your Friday folder. For now, we will keep sending the lunch menu, but it is also available online.

VOLLEYBALL NEWS:  The JV girls won one of three sets last night against St. Francis Xavier, Taos. Scores were 19-25, 16-25, and 25-22.

BASKETBALL NEWS:  4th Grade boys can sign up for basketball and will be combined with the sixth grade boys’ team. THERE WILL BE OPEN GYM FOR BOYS GRADES 4TH THROUGH 8TH ON THURSDAY NIGHT (10/16) FROM 6:00 TO 8:00 PM. Please be prompt with pick-up, as there is a wedding set-up immediately after practice.

MILK MONEY: Any student may purchase a milk at lunchtime for 50 cents. Students purchasing a school lunch already have a milk provided, but may purchase an additional. Sack lunch students may purchase a milk for their lunch. However, payment must be made to the office at the time the milk is desired – no paying ahead. There will be no change available. So pack those quarters parents!

PE REMINDER: On Mondays, the 5-8th graders are allowed
to change in to a T-shirt and gym shorts during their gym time & then they may wear these clothes home.

LUNCH NOTICE: For students purchasing daily lunches: Students may choose a peanut butter and jelly sandwich in lieu of the main entrée if they have a note from home. They must bring a note on the day that the substitution is desired and must present it to the classroom teacher first thing in the morning. Please note that the “main entrée” is the protein item. For example, if our meal is vegetable soup with grilled cheese & string cheese, the substitution would be for the cheese sandwich & string cheese, not for the vegetable soup.

MEDICATION AT SCHOOL: We do not have a “stock supply” of medications for students. You may choose to send in a pain reliever or other types of medicine for your child. Make sure to clearly mark the container(s), and send a note giving staff permission to dispense the medication, with explicit dosage instructions and dosage cups/spoons. These will be locked up in the office. Sometimes having medicine available here for your child can mean not having to come after him/her or making a special trip to bring medications.

HOMEWORK can only be picked up between 3:00 and 3:15 each day for students who have been absent. Requests can be made to send work home with siblings or others. Please specifically request homework when calling in your child’s absence if you so prefer. Some parents prefer to not have the homework, especially if their child is still feeling unwell.
