teacher.
GRADUATION CAP/TASSEL/GOWN FEE FOR 8TH GRADERS: The
school charges $8.50 per student for cap/gown/tassel fees. You may send this in
at any time. Please make checks payable to OLOSS Special Account. Guidelines
for graduation dress: Boys – dress pants, collared shirt, dress shoes, tie is optional;
Girls – dresses, no more than 2 inches above the knee, no spaghetti straps
showing (may wear shawl to cover). Students will be wearing cap/gown for
graduation and awards ceremony.
7TH GRADE PARENTS: Each year, the 7th
grade parents and students host the 8th grade graduation reception.
Thanks so much to Gina Adrian, Lori Evers, & Christy Evers, who have
volunteered to head this up. All 7th grade parents may be contacted
to provide refreshments for this event.
8th GRADE PARENTS/STUDENTS: Along with
recent graduations, a slide show has been presented at the reception. This has
been traditionally constructed by family or friends of the 8th grade
students. Please contact the office if you would be able to put a presentation
together with the students’ pictures.
8TH GRADERS: Start getting your pictures together. We are
planning on getting the slide show done early this year. Please submit 7
pictures (name & numbered on back 1-7, in order) by April 11th.
MARK
YOUR CALENDAR: All school families are invited and strongly
encouraged to attend the Self-Study meal
on Tuesday, April 8th to begin @ 5:30 pm. This meal is planned for
the conclusion of the visiting team’s time here and will be a summation of
recommendations by the committees and visiting team. As the time draws nearer,
we will be sending out an RSVP form.
PRESCHOOL AND KINDERGARTEN INFORMATIONAL MEETINGS THIS WEEK:
TUESDAY, MARCH 25TH, 6:30 – 7:00 PM. All interested in enrolling
their child in preschool or kindergarten next year are invited and encouraged
to attend.
FINAL CALL FOR TRASH BAG ORDERS: We need your help, if we sell 40 more rolls of bags our profit
will increase by $358.00. The increased sales will raise our profit level
from $954 to $1312. Please ask your friends and family to help out. If
each family can sell or purchase one more roll, we will exceed our goal.
Together we can make this a successful fundraiser for our school's needs.
Please let the office know if you want to add to your order or please return
your order in your Friday folder this Monday. Thanks!
FIRST RECONCILIATION has been
rescheduled to Sunday, March 30th, after the 10:00 am Mass.
SPRING & SPORTS PICTURES can
be found in today’s folder. If you have any questions or concerns, please call
Wagner’s directly @ 1-800-444-7986.
THE READING
COUNTS DEADLINE is Friday, April 25th. If
your child reaches 200 points by April 25th, he/she qualifies to
attend the Reading Counts field trip, which is scheduled for Thursday, May 8th
at Tan-Tar-A Waterpark. The Fundraising Committee designated profits from the
two breakfasts this year to go towards this trip. We are proud to say that with
the approximately $1575 made from these two events, the cost for the bus
(approx. $400), and the majority of the ticket costs will be covered. Parents
will probably be expected to pay $5-6 per child (full price of tickets is $17).
Parents are welcome to attend and gain entrance for $5, or are charged $17 if
swimming. No siblings are allowed on this trip. Additionally, for every
25 points over 200, your child gets a ticket, to be placed in a drawing for a
prize. If your child does not qualify to attend the trip, he/she will stay at
school as a normal day of school and will be held responsible for all
assignments.
IT WILL BE HERE BEFORE YOU KNOW IT!! We are once again planning our annual Easter egg hunt. The hunt
will be for students in PK through 5th grades on the afternoon of
Wednesday, April 16th. We are asking each family in PK-5th
to bring in one bag of candy (no
chocolate because it melts in the sun). No plastic eggs are necessary; we have
accumulated plenty. If you wish, you may also send in extra treats for students
in 6-8 grades, who will be graciously “hiding” the eggs. You may go ahead and
send the candy into the office at any time. Thank you!
STATIONS
OF THE CROSS: The school children will be attending Stations of
the Cross every Friday afternoon at 2:15. If you or a grandparent will be
taking your child after the Stations, please send a note to the classroom
teacher so that students can bring their book bag to church with them.
EXTENDED CARE SERVICES (before and after
school) will be available on Holy Thursday and on May 15th, the
final day of school.
We extend our deepest sympathy to the family of Bob Adrian, who passed
away last week. Mark, Gina, Ethan, Macy & the entire Adrian family will remain in our daily
prayers. May God’s love and the love of the people around you provide you
comfort during this difficult time.

“The Christian
home is the place where children receive the first proclamation of the faith.
For this reason the family home is rightly called "the domestic
church," a community of grace and prayer, a school of human virtues and of
Christian charity.” According to the
Catechism of the Catholic Church “Like the Church, our homes should be filled
with rituals and traditions.”
