GRADE CARDS: You will find grade cards for students in Preschool
through 8th grade in today’s folder. Please look these over, sign
& return. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate
to contact the classroom teacher.
BOOK FAIR FIESTA: Many thanks to all who helped in
any way with the book fair and breakfast, and to all who supported these events
monetarily. We were able to fortify our library with approximately $500 worth
of earned books! The breakfast was also very well attended, with profits of
$852.45 (designated for the Reading Counts trip). Thanks God for these
successful events!
THE READING
COUNTS DEADLINE is Friday, April 25th. If
your child reaches 200 points by April 25th, he/she qualifies to
attend the Reading Counts field trip, which is scheduled for Thursday, May 8th
at Tan-Tar-A Waterpark. The Fundraising Committee designated profits from the
two breakfasts this year to go towards this trip. We are proud to say that with
the approximately $1575 made from these two events, the cost for the bus
(approx. $400), and the majority of the ticket costs will be covered. Parents
will probably be expected to pay $5-6 per child (full price of tickets is $17).
Parents are welcome to attend and gain entrance for $5, or are charged $17 if swimming.
No siblings are allowed on this trip. Additionally, for every 25 points
over 200, your child gets a ticket, to be placed in a drawing for a prize. If
your child does not qualify to attend the trip, he/she will stay at school as a
normal day of school and will be held responsible for all assignments.
MARK
YOUR CALENDAR: All school families are invited and strongly
encouraged to attend the Self-Study meal
on Tuesday, April 8th to begin @ 5:30 pm. This meal is planned for
the conclusion of the visiting team’s time here and will be a summation of
recommendations by the committees and visiting team. As the time draws nearer,
we will be sending out an RSVP form.
PRESCHOOL AND KINDERGARTEN INFORMATIONAL MEETINGS –
TUESDAY, MARCH 25TH, 6:30 – 7:00 PM. All interested in enrolling
their child in preschool or kindergarten next year are invited and encouraged
to attend.
IT WILL BE HERE BEFORE YOU KNOW IT!! Lent is well
under way and Easter will be here before you know it. Looking to Easter, we
realize it is time to let parents know we are once again planning our annual Easter egg hunt. The hunt
will be for students in PK through 5th grades on the afternoon of
Wednesday, April 16th. We are asking each family in PK-5th
to bring in one bag of candy (no
chocolate because it melts in the sun). No plastic eggs are necessary; we have
accumulated plenty. If you wish, you may also send in extra treats for students
in 6-8 grades, who will be graciously “hiding” the eggs. You may go ahead and
send the candy into the office at any time. Thank you!
STATIONS
OF THE CROSS: The school children will be attending Stations of
the Cross every Friday afternoon at 2:15. If you or a grandparent will be
taking your child after the Stations, please send a note to the classroom
teacher so that students can bring their book bag to church with them.
HUGE
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE SPEECH STUDENTS!! We are so proud
of our speech team, who all came home on March 1st with blue
ribbons! We recognize these students for their performances: Dakota Graham
(humorous), Cameron Haeffner & Cody Schulte (duet), Rachel Buechter &
Kalie Massman (duet), and Madison Evers (humorous). We especially recognize
Dakota, Rachel & Kalie, who will be moving on to the Diocesan meet later in
the year.
SPELLING
BEE: Due to the timing of the self-study visiting team’s
work at school, OLOS students will not be attending the spelling bee at St. Martin .
RICE BOWL: Hopefully, you are using the Catholic Relief
Services “Operation Rice Bowl” kit enclosed in last week’s folder. Make a
Lenten Plan – PRAY – set aside time for prayer and reflections, FAST – consider
what you will give up for Lent, GIVE – set a goal for you CRS Rice Bowl
offering. All offerings will be
collected after Lent and forwarded to CRS. Thank you and God Bless!

with head checks. We appreciate you, Emily!

be placed in extended care and you will be charged the daily drop in fee of $5.
7TH GRADE PARENTS: Each year, the 7th
grade parents and students host the 8th grade graduation reception.
We are now asking for parent coordinators for this – which is scheduled for
Saturday, May 10th, beginning with the 5:00 pm Mass. Please contact
someone in the office with your offer to help. Thanks so much to Gina Adrian,
Lori Evers, & Christy Evers, who have volunteered so far.
8th GRADE PARENTS/STUDENTS: Along with
recent graduations, a slide show has been presented at the reception. This has
been traditionally constructed by family or friends of the 8th grade
