CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK BEGINS THIS WEEKDEND. Please see enclosed sheet to find out if your child is assigned a duty for the weekend Masses. Thanks to all who signed up. We tried to include at least one student from each family signing up, and in some cases scheduled more, if we were short on help. Parents are encouraged to send Father & the staff notes of thanks for all they do for OLOS School.

ITALIAN FEAST REMINDERS: PLEASE REFER TO ENCLOSED WORK LIST ASSIGNMENTS FOR YOU AND YOUR CHILDREN– IT IS A LITTLE DIFFERENT THIS YEAR. PLEASE TURN IN ANY ITALIAN FEAST MONEY YOU HAVE FOR TICKETS YOU HAVE SOLD THUS FAR. IF YOU NEED MORE TICKETS, PLEASE SEND A NOTE OR CALL THE OFFICE.
Silent Auction: Please help make the Silent Auction successful again this year.  We ask each family to donate to their class theme baskets as well as help round up other nice items for the Auction.  Please send these into school NOW so we can start preparing the bid sheets.  If you would like to go together with other families and donate some bigger items that would be great too.
Class Basket Themes:  PK – Scrapbooking, K/1 – Sports Day, 2 – A Day at the Beach, 3/4 – Camping, 5 – Kitchen stuff, 6 – Religious, 7/8 – Mizzou. Every child in the classroom should either bring an item for their classroom basket or send in $5 to the classroom teacher so that they may do the shopping for the basket.

Due to the snow day in January which cancelled the scheduled Home & School meeting, we will have a Home & School meeting, as well as a School Advisory Board meeting on Feb. 17th, at 6:30 and 7:30 respectively. We realize there are home games that evening, but it was the only available night in February.

Great thanks to Theresa (Ray) Bax & Betty Pound, who so graciously cooked the lunches on Monday and Tuesday while our cooks were in Washington D. C. for the pro-life march. These ladies donated their time & talent for our students. Please, if you see them, thank them with a pat on the back.
Snow Make up Days: We WILL be in session on Monday, Feb. 21st & Tues., April 26th to make up the 2nd & 3rd snow days.

Thanks to all who sent in the cookies for the Masses this weekend in celebration of Catholic Schools Week. WE APPRECIATE YOU!!!

Mrs. Groose will be selling BEEF STICKS at lunchtime again this year. They are $1 each.

Student Council: Because of the Valentine’s fundraiser we will not have our meeting on the first Monday of the month. We WILL meet after school on Friday, Feb. 11th to assemble the candygrams. We will meet again on Monday, Feb. 14th, at lunchtime, to assemble the flower orders.

OLOS students will be participating in the Science Fair this year. PACKETS WERE SENT HOME PREVIOUSLY THAT CONTAINED INFORMATION REGARDING PROJECT GUIDELINES. PLEASE KEEP THIS FOR YOUR REFERENCE. Students in grades 3rd through 8th will be required to do a project, which will be part of their science grade. Younger students are encouraged to do projects for show. Boards are now being offered for a nominal fee of $4. If you need a board, please put payment (to OLOS) in a marked envelope and send to the office. Students in grades 6th, 7th, & 8th are required to also do a paper with their project. In these grades (6,7,8) one winner will be chosen to attend the diocesan fair in each of the categories of Life, Physical & Earth Science (3 winners total will go to diocese). Each student in these grades should prominently designate on the back of their board which category their project should be placed in. THE OLOS SCIENCE FAIR WILL BE FEBRUARY 22. All projects and papers will be due for display on that day. The diocesan fair will be held March 19th.

8th grade retreat @ Folk – scheduled for Fri, Feb. 18th. Your child will need to pack a lunch & a drink on that day. Nice jeans (no holes) and collared shirts may be worn for this event – as they may be outside a little bit if the weather permits. The students must be at Folk between 8:30 and 9:00 for registration, so they will be leaving school around 7:30 and will not return until after 3:30 pm.

PLEASE TURN IN ALL BEST CHOICE UPC LABELS TO THE OFFICE. THEY ARE ONLY REDEEMED ONE TIME PER YEAR AND THEY WILL BE SENT OFF VERY SOON. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

Please support the Student Council’s candygram and flower fundraiser for Valentine’s Day. Order forms should be found in today’s folder.
