The fee for each student to attend will be $10, which is paid by the parent. You may send your payment in anytime before January 17th, checks payable to OLOS.  (Please note – the retreat is not Jan. 18th, as listed on calendar sent home before Christmas.)

Please SIGN & RETURN GRADE CARDS if you have not already done so. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the classroom teacher.

Let’s try this again!! Student Council members: Please note the meeting this Monday, Jan. 17th, until 3:30 pm or so. We will be decorating and making plans for Valentine’s Day. Please bring a note with permission to stay for the meeting.

Make a point to attend the Home & School meeting (and Fundraising meeting too!) on Thursday night to catch up on what is going on at our school. The meeting is at 6:30 in the computer lab. Parents earn a “bonus dress down pass” for each of their children, just for attending the meeting! See you there!

Please pray with our 7th & 8th graders at noon on Friday for an end to abortion. All are welcome to go to the Capitol for this event. If you cannot be there in person, please be there in spirit.

ITALIAN FEAST REMINDERS:
Work List:
Please return sign up sheets to work, if you have not already done so.  The Italian Feast is quickly approaching and we have lots of planning left to do.
Silent Auction: Please help make the Silent Auction successful again this year.  We ask each family to donate to their class theme baskets as well as help round up other nice items for the Auction.  Please send these into school at any time so we can start preparing the bid sheets.  If you would like to go together with other families and donate some bigger items that would be great too.
Class Basket Themes:  PK – Scrapbooking, K/1 – Sports Day, 2 – A Day at the Beach, 3/4 – Camping, 5 – Kitchen stuff, 6 – Religious, 7/8 – Mizzou. Every child in the classroom should either bring an item for their classroom basket or send in $5 to the classroom teacher so that they may do the shopping for the basket.
Tickets:  Please try to pre sell your dinner tickets to help with the up front food expenses.  Money can be turned into the school office.  You can also get more tickets via the office as well.

House Points Update: The 6th graders – “The House of St. Peter” -  are a very happy bunch these days! They are excited because they finally earned the “Spirit Stick” in our House points race. We thank Ray Bax, Jim Schulte, Dave Schwaller, Bruce Berendzen, and Darryl Love, & Brian Kliethermes for clearing the snow off of the parish drives, parking lots and sidewalks. Those tractors, trucks and shovels were really busy moving the snow out of the way! We appreciate it!

PRO LIFE MARCH ATTENDEES: There is a MANDATORY MEETING THIS SUNDAY, JAN. 16TH AT NOON AT ST. JOSEPH CATHEDRAL. There is an 11:00 Mass at St. Joseph’s Cathedral, if you would like to attend, and then just stay over for the meeting. Please bring $20 to cover the cost of two meals and the metro tickets that Fr. Joe has procured ahead of time, which will offset some of the challenges of eating after the tour of the Holocaust Museum and after the Mass at the Basilica. Please also bring your photo release form to this meeting.

NCYC NEWS: There will be a NCYC meeting between the Masses Sun. Jan. 23. Some of the youth and adults will not be here because of attending the March For Life in D.C. but EVERYONE ELSE--youth and parents please attend. We will begin accepting everyone's $100 deposit for the trip at this meeting. This will be your commitment to the trip and give us an idea of the exact number planning to attend. The Diocese has not given the date the deposit will be due to them so if something comes up for you between now and the date the Diocese requires a deposit it could be refunded. From the last email Donna received from the Diocese it looks like the cost of the trip will not be as expensive as we had guessed. There was a schedule mix-up for the KofC/NCYC steak dinner. It will NOT be Feb. 12. Hopefully it can be rescheduled before Lent.

Due to the snow day on December 16th – SCHOOL WILL BE IN SESSION ON JANUARY 17 – MLK.
Lunch for Jan. 17th will be:  Spaghetti, salad, garlic bread, fresh fruit
