MIDTERM PROGRESS REPORTS are available today. Please follow the directions below to access your child’s report. Special class grades are not posted unless there is a concern for your child.

3-8 Progress Reports are available online. To access Progress Reports on your family portal - sign in, then follow these steps:

On left, click “Student”

On left, directly under “Student Home” click “Grades”

In upper middle/left screen click “Midterm Progress Report”

If you have more than one student, you can switch between them on the upper left. Please sign the slip that is enclosed in today’s folder, acknowledging that you reviewed the report. It is a good idea to log in weekly to check grades. This is also a good time to log in any service hours you have performed.

K-2 Progress Reports are in today’s folder. Look these over and if you have any questions or concerns, please contact the classroom teacher.

SCHOOL-WEAR ORDERS should be in no later than December 10th.

HOME & SCHOOL ELECTIONS: Based on ballots returned by 28 of our 36 school families we offer the following election results:

Thanks so much to all the individuals who volunteered or agreed to run for these positions. We also want to recognize the 23-24 officers: Jena Schwaller (technically staying on in advisory position), Amber Schulte (who will be moving up to president), Ashley Evers, Andy Adrian, & Roselyn Wood. We thank you all for your donation of time & talent!

 CHRISTMAS IS COMING! Last week you received a flyer for dress down days in December based on Christmas movie themes, called “A December to Remember”. Your child may dress down if they follow the theme for the day but must adhere to all length/no fray/no holes requirements. Mrs. Varner has tried to make it easy – you can either follow the theme closely with actual outfits, or just in the general color theme, as outlined on the flyer We have included these dress down days on the monthly calendar as well. Let’s all show our Christmas spirit!

OLOS CHRISTMAS PROGRAM is Sunday, December 8th, after the 8:00 am Mass. The program will begin at 9:15 am. The list of student ministry assignments is in today’s folder. For Mass, students are asked to dress nicely (no jeans) and adhere to dress code lengths. Please have students wear green, red, or black, if possible. We are asking all families to send in two dozen homemade cookies on Friday, Dec. 6. H & S & School Advisory officers will bag them up and hand them out after the program on Sunday. There will be no reception at the school.

SANTA STORE NEWS! Our annual Santa Store will be available for our students to shop on Tuesday, December 17th during their special class time. Name tag packets will be coming out soon – so be looking for those in the next couple of weeks. We are asking for donations of gifts for family members – moms, dads, & siblings, and for donations of bags, tape, and tissue paper. We also need a few more “Christmas elves” to help that day. We thank Lue Ann Hogg, Bev Koetting, Diann Brenneke, & Darlene Rush, who have already offered to help us out!

CHRISTMAS PARTY/LAST DAY PLANNING:

We will follow the schedule below for December 20th, our last day in session for 2024:

8:00 am                   All School Prayer Service – all invited

8:30 am                  Brunch (pancakes, sausage,  hashbrowns) all parent/guardians invited, complimentary, rsvp coming out next week

9:00 – 9:45 am       Classroom parties

9:45 am                  Students may be signed out

11:00 am                 All remaining students will be  dismissed (pick-up no later than 11:15 am – no afternoon extended care services)

***We may have a special visitor show up!!! Shhh!***

EXCITING PLAYGROUND NEWS! The new playground equipment is in for the younger students’ area. This equipment is at no cost to the school and made possible through a grant. The equipment needs to be put together. It includes benches, picnic tables, a dome jungle gym, along with other things. We are looking for someone to take charge & spearhead the assembly part of this project. Please call the school office with your offer to help!

VOLUNTEERS & VETS! Thanks so much to all who celebrated with us on Thursday, so many of our great volunteers, supporters, & veterans. Including students, we had approximately 110 eating that day. Many thanks to Cindy & Bryan, who have worked the whole week (plus) to put on this meal – roasting turkey & baking bread. They teased us all week with wonderful smells! We also would like to thank our great 7 & 8th graders & Mr. V. for hosting, our art classes & Ms. Williamson for the great decorations, & Mrs. Marie, Darlene Rush & Donnie Lepper for general help. How could we get along without such great help? We very much appreciate each & every one of you!

SOCKTOBER IS OVER! Congratulations to our 7th & 8th graders, who won the Socktober sock collection contest. These students managed to collect an average of 11.1 pairs of socks per student, with 100 pairs collected. Great job 7th & 8th graders (and parents)! The school collected 288 pairs of socks overall! The breakdown by classroom follows:

PK – (23 pairs)        1.4 socks per student

K – (7 pairs)            1.4 socks per student

1/2 – (21 pairs)       2.3 socks per student

3/4 – (36 pairs)      7.2 socks per student

5/6 – (101 pairs)     7.2 socks per student

CROCHET CLUB has been moved to Monday night this upcoming week. Please fill out form that Mrs. Hoecker has sent home.

HEALTH SCREENINGS: On Tuesday morning we had our annual health screenings with nurses from the Miller Co. Health Dept, which included vision & hearing tests. If there were any concerns for your child, you will find a notice in today’s folder. Thanks so much to Megan K. & Ashley B. for volunteering their Tuesday morning to help us out!

VETERANS DAY: We will begin celebrating Veterans Day this Monday, November 11th, by dressing down in red, white, & blue or camo. Jeans may be worn. On Thursday, November 14th, all active military members and veterans from the Mary's Home community were invited to our Thanksgiving luncheon. RSVP was required by 11/4. (We are also recognizing the many volunteers who assist us here at school).

MEETINGS THIS WEEK: There will be a Home & School Meeting this Monday, November 11th at 6:00 pm, beginning with a potluck meal. We will elect new officers. All attending will receive a bonus dress down pass for their child. Following the H & S meeting (approx. 7:00 pm) we will have a Fantasy Night Follow Up Meeting. Make plans now to attend one or both of these important meetings!

GERBES COMMUNITY REWARDS: The school recently received $78.00 for our families’ participation in the Community Rewards program. Please see the end of notes for information on how to get signed up for this program.

CEMETERY LIGHTING! In spite of the forecasted rain, we are planning on leaving the tea lights on the cemetery throughout the weekend. Hopefully, this gives everyone a chance to get out and see how beautiful this looks at night. And if this is what it takes to make the much needed rain come down – so be it! All to the Glory of God! As you visit the cemetery, remember to pray for the Holy Souls of our deceased relatives & all our dearly departed

HALLOWEEN THANKS! Thanks so much to our great families, parishioners and room parents, who have helped to make this Halloween & Holy Days so special. From the Cemetery Lighting to the Trunk or Treat, to the classroom parties – it all makes for such a special time for our students and community. We so appreciate all the time, talent, and donations that make it all happen. We couldn’t do it without you!

HEALTH SCREENINGS: On Tuesday morning, two Miller County Health nurses will be here to do screenings for our students. We have two volunteers – Megan Kempker & Ashley Burnett to assist the nurses. We could use at least one more person. Please let Rosie know if you would be able to help.
