MIDTERM PROGRESS REPORTS:

3-8 Progress Reports are available online now. To access Progress Reports on your family portal - sign in, then follow these steps:

On left, click “Student”

On left, directly under “Student Home” click “Grades”

In upper middle/left screen click “Midterm Progress Report”

If you have more than one student, you can switch between them on the upper left. Please sign the slip enclosed in today’s folder, acknowledging that you reviewed the report. It is a good idea to log in weekly to check grades. This is also a good time to log in any service hours you have performed.

K-2 Progress Reports: Enclosed in today’s folder. Look these over and if you have any questions or concerns,

please contact the classroom teacher.

PENNY WAR TOTAL! What a HUGE success and what a FUN week of friendly competition! OLOS School students and families managed to raise a phenomenal $1178.42 last week for the school building project in Uganda. Some students threw in their spare change, some emptied piggy banks, and some even threw in their birthday money! The 2nd & 3rd graders came out on top, with a score of negative 5487!  They will enjoy their chosen prize – pizza, PJs, & a dance party. Fundraising to build the school in Uganda will continue throughout this school year.

STATIONS OF THE CROSS: We will be going to Stations every Friday until Easter at 2:30 pm. You are welcome to join us in prayer. If you are planning to attend, and wish to check your child out at church, please let us know ahead of time so that your child can bring his/her bookbag along to church.

8th GRADE BOYS’ BASKETBALL RECOGNITION: Congratulations to Shane B., Jacob B., and Alex H., and their families, as they were honored this week at Honey Creek, coming near to the end of their basketball career in the PALs League. They have all been playing together since 4/5th grade and we are so proud of them!

SHOW ME SUDS FUNDRAISER: This is a great opportunity to help our school and parish youth by selling and purchasing quality laundry detergents, dish soaps, dishwasher pods, and dryer sheets. Order forms with payments must be returned by Friday, February 16th. All products will be available for pickup on Sunday, February 25th. Contact Joan Doerhoff or the school office for more information. Thank you for your continued support in our school and parish youth!

PARENT SURVEY: Please take the time to fill out the enclosed survey regarding extended care usage in the next school year. Please return it in your folder on Monday.

SERVICE HOURS: In the folder today, you will find your 2023-24 service hour report. As a condition of enrollment, 20 hours of service to OLOS School & Parish is required of parents of all school children. Most parents do many more than 20 hours of service here, but the expectation is that you do at least 20 per household. Student service hours are not included in the 20; they have their own goals within the school and classroom. Parent service hours should be logged on your family portal. Once in your portal, on the left side choose “Family”, select the parent’s name at the top middle, click “add” in the righthand corner and log your hours. They will be verified periodically by the school office staff. For tracking purposes, it may be easier to log all service hours performed by either parent under the parent who normally checks the portal. If you are not able to fulfill this obligation, you may pay the hours out @ $10/hour, for a total of $200. (We know many of you have worked service hours that are not showing on the report – please document them in your portal!)

OLOS SCIENCE FAIR: The 5th through 8th graders are working hard on getting their projects finished up. We will have them on display at the VIP Day on April 10th. Two projects/presenters will show their projects at the diocesan fair on March 1st in Taos. More details will be available soon. We look forward to seeing all their interesting projects!

GYM PAINTING PROJECT: The gymnasium will be under repair/painting from mid-February to mid-March. No activities will be allowed in the gym. ARRIVAL & DISMISSAL OF STUDENTS will be through the classroom hallway doors near the annex.

RESCHEDULED DANCE: The fundraising dance has been rescheduled for Saturday, April 13, 2024, from 7:00 to 10:00 pm, featuring the Ryan Voss Band. Pizza Quick will also be on hand. The proceeds will be used for gym repair. Additional flyers are available in the school office.

8TH GRADE GRADUATION PLANNING: It is a tradition at OLOS School for the 7th grade parents and students to sponsor the 8th grade graduation reception. While all 7th grade families are expected to help, we usually ask for one or two people to organize it, with guidelines provided by the school office. Please let us know if you would be willing to help with this. Thank you! (Graduation – Sat., Apr. 27 - 4:00 pm Mass)

Brandy V. is the lucky winner of the weekly Friday Folder dress down drawing!
