COMMUNITY SERVICE DAY: Our January 2024 CS Day is this upcoming Tuesday, Jan. 9th. Students may dress down if they wear their YELLOW community heart shirts, with all length requirements met. This month we focus on our parish. Students in each classroom will take time to help clean and rejuvenate our facilities – both school buildings, the church, and annex & parish grounds.

HOME & SCHOOL MEETING: We will have our third Home & School meeting this Monday evening, January 8th, beginning at 6:00 pm with a potluck meal – please bring a dish to share. The meeting will start at 6:15 pm sharp. Topics to be discussed include Catholic Schools Week, VIP Day, and the upcoming Morgan Co. Line dance, along with updates from the classrooms & office. Please plan on attending. You will receive a bonus dress down pass for your child just for your attendance at this meeting. Hope to see you Monday evening!

SCHOOL CLOSING: Any emergency early dismissal or closing of the school due to weather will be announced by parent alert (text, email, voice) and through social media, as well as over area television stations. PARENTS SHOULD NOT CALL the school office during inclement weather conditions to learn if the school is closing early. This unnecessarily ties up our phone lines for emergency communications. A phone call into school during this time will delay the process of getting our communications out to all families. Please note that afternoon extended care services are not available in the event of early dismissal due to weather or other emergencies.

TIME & TALENT: Thank you to the many school families who have already returned their annual time & talent parish commitment forms. For those who have not returned their forms another copy is included in today’s folder. Please complete and return this form to school, to the parish office, or in the collection basket at Mass by January 19th. We truly appreciate your participation and involvement in our parish family!

Braden E. is the lucky winner of the weekly Friday Folder dress down drawing!

20 HOURS OF SERVICE: 20 hours of service to OLOS School & Parish is required of parents of all school children. Most parents do many more than 20 hours of service here, but the expectation is that you do at least 20 per household. Student service hours are not included in the 20; they have their own goals within the school and classroom. Parent service hours should be logged on your family portal. Once in your portal, on the left side choose “Family”, select the parent’s name at the top middle, click “add” in the righthand corner and log your hours. They will be verified periodically by the school office staff. For tracking purposes, it may be easier to log all service hours performed by either parent under the parent who normally checks the portal. Make sure to log your hours from the picnic! If you are not able to fulfill this obligation, you may pay the hours out @ $10/hour, for a total of $200.
