If you haven’t already done so, please review and then sign & return the slip provided in last week’s folder. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please contact the classroom teacher.

To access the grade card on your family portal, please follow these steps:

·          Log into your account at factsmgt.com – use school code ols-mo and your username & password.

·          On left, click “Student”.

·          On left, directly under “Grades”, click “Report Card”.

·          If you have more than one student, you can switch between grade cards in the upper middle of the screen.

HOME & SCHOOL MEETING: As you are aware, due to the weather the H & S meeting was cancelled. Our next meeting will be in conjunction with our “Meet & Greet”, scheduled for March 11, 2024. An additional H & S meeting will be scheduled for April to plan for the 24-25 school year.

OLOS SCIENCE FAIR: Our local science fair has been tentatively rescheduled to Friday, Feb. 9th (from Jan. 19th). All 5th through 8th graders are working hard on getting their projects finished up. We hope to have them on display before our Valentines’ parties that day. We look forward to seeing all their interesting projects!

8th GRADE MASS at Cathedral of St. Joseph, Jefferson City. The diocese intends to begin a tradition of having all 8th graders from our diocese come together for a special Mass at the end of each school year. This Mass is scheduled for Thursday, May 2, 2024, which is after our 8th graders are dismissed for the school year. 8th grade parents are encouraged to take their 8th grader. Mass will be mid-morning with lunch provided afterward. More information will be forthcoming.  Please let us know if your child will attend so that we may RSVP.

FREE THROW CONTEST: The Mary’s Home Knights of Columbus will hold a Free Throw Contest on Thursday 1/18 from 5:30-7:00 pm, and Sunday 1/21 from 11:00-12:30 pm in the Parish Center gymnasium. Boys & girls ages 9-14 may participate. Participants must be this age as of January 1st, 2024. Bring your own ball, or one will be provided. Call or text Sam Berendzen with any questions @ 573-690-5245.

SCHOOL CLOSING: Any emergency early dismissal or closing of the school due to weather will be announced by parent alert (text, email) and through social media, as well as over area television stations. Parents should not call the school office during inclement weather conditions to learn if the school is closing early. This unnecessarily ties up our phone lines for emergency communications. A phone call into school during this time will delay the process of getting our communications out to all families. Please note that afternoon extended care services are not available in the event of early dismissal due to weather or other emergencies.

PARENT ALERT CHANGE: Starting January 15th, messages sent via Parent Alert will have a new short code. We encourage you to add the new short code 317065 to your saved contact for school, so it does not display as an unknown sender. This is simply a change in the carrier for services provided.

Jacob & Magdaline B. are the lucky winners of the weekly Friday Folder dress down drawing!

20 HOURS OF SERVICE: 20 hours of service to OLOS School & Parish is required of parents of all school children. Most parents do many more than 20 hours of service here, but the expectation is that you do at least 20 per household. Student service hours are not included in the 20; they have their own goals within the school and classroom. Parent service hours should be logged on your family portal. Once in your portal, on the left side choose “Family”, select the parent’s name at the top middle, click “add” in the righthand corner and log your hours. They will be verified periodically by the school office staff. For tracking purposes, it may be easier to log all service hours performed by either parent under the parent who normally checks the portal. Make sure to log your hours from the picnic! If you are not able to fulfill this obligation, you may pay the hours out @ $10/hour, for a total of $200.

CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK is almost here! It will be the week of Jan. 29th, culminating with an all-school Mass on Sunday, February4th at 10:00 am. The committee will be meeting to plan fun activities centered around daily themes. We always look forward to this most special week in our school year!
