PROGRESS REPORTS: Today in this folder you will find your child’s midterm report or a sign-off sheet. Students in Grades K-2 receive a mid-term report and students’ reports in Grades 3-8 are to viewed online via the parent portal at www.optionc.com, using our school code – 8085 – and your individual username and password. Please sign & return the enclosed report/form on Monday. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the classroom teacher.

FANTASY NIGHT NEWS: Congratulations to Clinton & Amanda Otto, lucky winners of the “Early Bird” drawing. They opted for another ticket. Please, help spread the word that we will open the doors to begin seating people at 5:30 pm (it says 6:00 on the flyer & tickets) in order to have everyone completely seated and ready to begin dinner at 6:30 pm promptly. Refreshments will only be available after 6:00 pm. Work sign up forms are in today’s folder. Please fill out & return. If you don’t sign up for a spot, you WILL be called.  We have had a few offers of help from within the parish, but with only 33 school families, we need all of you!

HOME & SCHOOL MEETING: The first H & S meeting will be this Monday, September 23rd at 6:30 pm. All are invited and encouraged to attend. Those attending will receive a bonus dress down pass for each of their school children. Tentative dates for future meetings are all on Tuesday evenings - Nov. 12th, Jan. 14th, & Mar. 10th.

LOADS OF FUN: OLOS school would like to thank all who participated in the Loads for Funds and Pleasant Dreams fundraisers. With 80% of the school families participating, the school made a profit of $2647! In addition, the school received donations in the amount of $800, for a grand total of over $3400 towards the school technology fund. With these funds additional Chromebooks can be purchased, along with a needed upgrade to our network. This will ensure security and safety to our school and parish information. The Loads for Funds and Pleasant Dream products will arrive between 9/27 & 10/5 at the school. Thank you for your continuing support of OLOSS children.

DRESS CODE: Enclosed you will find our dress code policy. Inadvertently, part of the dress code information was omitted from the current year’s handbook. Please review the enclosed policy.

SPEECH PRACTICES: Wednesday, October 2nd – 3:00 – 4:00 pm, Thursday, October 10th – 3:00 – 4:00 pm.

PARENTS OF 7TH & 8TH GRADERS: In talking to your 7th & 8th graders, it is apparent that many of them would love to make the pilgrimage to Washington D. C, in January for the March for Life. This is an extraordinary opportunity for our youth to show support for the pro-life movement and also to gain life skills. However, the parish needs a chairperson to handle the paperwork and logistics of this trip. Could you be that person? Could you be the key to sending youth from our parish on this trip? If you think you could help out, please contact Rosie or Carol Plank. (Two people could work together.)

SUN BUTTER! OLOS School Lunch program is converting to the use of sun butter instead of peanut butter on what were PB & J sandwiches. No peanut products will be served through the lunch program. Sun butter is made from sunflower seeds. Remember, students may choose a sun butter and jelly sandwich in lieu of the main entrée if they have a note from home. They must bring a note on the day that the substitution is desired and must present it to the classroom teacher first thing in the morning. Please note that the “main entrée” is the protein item. For example, if our meal is vegetable soup with grilled cheese & string cheese, the substitution would be for the cheese sandwich & string cheese, not for the vegetable soup.

HEALTH CHECKS – change of date: The Miller Co. Health nurses will be here on Friday, October 4th for health screenings. We are in need of at least two volunteers to assist. It should only take the morning. If you are available to help, please call Rosie in the office.

LOOKING AHEAD: Mark your calendar for the Shiloh Dance fundraiser, scheduled for January 18, 2020.

VOLLEYBALL NEWS: The girls played two games in Linn last night. They took a loss on their first game to St. Peter, JC, but WON their second game against St. George Linn, with three winning set scores of 25-23, 25-14, & 19-17. Way to go Lady Cougars! Make plans to attend our HOME GAMES this Thursday night, when the girls will play TWO games, the first at 7:00 and the second at 8:00 pm. Show your school pride and come on out and cheer these girls on to victory!

SPORTS PROCEEDS: Games 9/12/19 – Concessions $156, Gate $186
