SCHOOL IN SESSION! School WILL be in session THIS MONDAY, September 16th, due to the fact that the diocese will not be sponsoring a professional development day.

SUN BUTTER! OLOS School Lunch program is converting to the use of sun butter instead of peanut butter on what were PB & J sandwiches. No peanut products will be served through the lunch program. Sun butter is made from sunflower seeds. Remember, students may choose a sun butter and jelly sandwich in lieu of the main entrée if they have a note from home. They must bring a note on the day that the substitution is desired and must present it to the classroom teacher first thing in the morning. Please note that the “main entrée” is the protein item. For example, if our meal is vegetable soup with grilled cheese & string cheese, the substitution would be for the cheese sandwich & string cheese, not for the vegetable soup.

GRANDPARENTS DAY A GREAT SUCCESS! Thanks to all grandparents who joined us Wednesday morning for the prayers service & bingo. We were so glad to enjoy a morning of prayer, fun, & fellowship with them. Special thanks to Marie Massman & Cindy McKenna, for helping out with the refreshments.
BOOK FAIR NEWS: Thanks to everyone who came out and supported our school book fair. We earned around $400 worth of books for our school. Each teacher picked out new books for their classroom. Each student also received a reusable bag with a small item from the book fair. Kindergarten and First Grade were the winners of the book fair bingo, and will be enjoying an ice-cream party! Thanks for your support!

BEST SMILES NEEDED FOR PICTURE DAY! School pictures are scheduled for this Tuesday, September 17th, and will be taken by D & J Photography, the same as last year. Order forms were sent home last week. If you have misplaced yours, please contact Rosie to get another sent home on Monday.  Orders for yearbooks for the current school year will be taken at a later date.

SPEECH TEAM: Is your child interested in performing with our speech team? Are you interested in this opportunity for your child? There will be a meeting for all interested parents & students (for those already signed up and for those not signed up) this Wednesday, Sept. 18th, 6:00 – 7:30 pm in the computer lab. At this meeting students will get a chance to look at and look for speeches. So far, we have six youth signed up, but would love to send a full team of eight, so come check it out!

FANTASY NIGHT NEWS: Remember - The “Early Bird Drawing” is at 2:00 pm this Wednesday, September 18th (for another ticket or $110). Make sure to turn in all sold tickets by Wednesday morning! All tickets & money should be handled DIRECTLY through the office/main holders/bank. Do NOT send money or tickets through the Friday folder or through the classroom folder. If you turn your tickets into the office or the bank, remember to let your main ticket holder know that you have done so. Help spread the word that we will open the doors to begin seating people at 5:30 pm (it says 6:00 on the flyer) in order to have everyone completely seated and ready to begin dinner at 6:30 promptly. Refreshments will only be available after 6:00 pm. There is a F. N. meeting scheduled for this Monday, Sept. 16th at 6:00 pm, in the cafeteria. All are invited!

PARENTS OF 7TH & 8TH GRADERS: In talking to your 7th & 8th graders, it is apparent that many of them would love to make the pilgrimage to Washington D. C, in January for the March for Life. This is an extraordinary opportunity for our youth to show support for the pro-life movement and also to gain life skills. However, the parish needs a chairperson to handle the paperwork and logistics of this trip. Could you be that person? Could you be the key to sending youth from our parish on this trip? If you think you could help out, please contact Rosie or Carol Plank. (Two people could work together.)

WE ARE BLESSED! Many thanks to Dan & Pat Dickneite (great aunt & uncle of Henry, Madelyn, & Austin Doerhoff), for the donation of $500 to the school technology fund, and also to Carolyn Koetting and two other individuals who made smaller donations at the picnic. We so appreciate the generosity of these individuals! Also, we are pleased to announce that OLOS School received a $750 technology grant from Sam's Club, Jefferson City.

EXTENDED CARE HELP NEEDED: OLOS School is currently seeking individual(s) to work in our extended care program, with hours of 3:00 -5:30 daily, Monday-Friday - any or all days available. Applicant(s) must work well with children, pass a background check, be Virtus trained or willing to take a 2 hr. Virtus training class, and be at least 18 years old. (High school students under age 18 would be considered, if part-time - T, W or T, Th). Pay rate is $9.50/hr. Please pass the word among friends and family. For more information or to apply, please contact Mr. Akin.

HEALTH CHECKS – change of date: The Miller Co. Health nurses will be here on Friday, October 4th for health screenings. We are in need of at least two volunteers to assist. It should only take the morning. If you are available to help, please call Rosie in the office.

HOME & SCHOOL MEETING: The first H & S meeting will be on Monday, September 23rd at 6:30 pm. All are invited and encouraged to attend. Those attending will receive a bonus dress down pass for each of their school children. Tentative dates for future meetings are all on Tuesday evenings - Nov. 12th, Jan. 14th, & Mar. 10th.

LOOKING AHEAD: Mark your calendar for the Shiloh Dance fundraiser, scheduled for January 18, 2020.

VOLLEYBALL NEWS: The girls put forth great effort last night at the home games. They struggled in the first set, did a little better in the second set, and finished the third set with a score of 16-25. Even though they lost, we are very proud of them, showing good sportsmanship and school pride. Keep on trying Lady Cougars!

PLEASE RETURN YOUR FOLDER ON MONDAY!
HAVE A WONDERFUL SEPTEMBER WEEKEND!
