actually coming to the book fair on Tuesday night. Anyone interested in
purchasing books can order online September

orders will be sent to the school 7-10 days after the online fair closes, which
is September 14. The link to
the OLOS School site is: http://www.scholastic.com/bf/ourladyofsnowsschool
GRANDPARENTS DAY! This Wednesday, Sept. 12, we will celebrate Grandparents Day
at OLOS School. If grandma or grandpa
can’t make it, feel free to come yourself or ask a “substitute grandparent” to
enjoy the morning with your child. We will celebrate Mass at 8:00 am (students
may sit with grandparents at church), then we will move to the school gymnasium
for fun and fellowship. Fr. Kevin Gormley will celebrate this Mass with our
students and grandparents, as Father Alex will be in the Holy Land at that
time. Grandparents may also shop the bookfair with their grandchild if they so
wish. The morning festivities should conclude around 10:00 – 10:30.
HOME & SCHOOL MEETING CHANGED: The first
Home & School meeting, shown on the September calendar, has been changed to
Tuesday, October 23rd at 6:30. There will be no meeting in
September. Fr. Alex will be away in September and wishes to address the parents
at the first H & S meeting. Please make plans now to attend the meeting in
October, as all school parents are expected to attend.
STUDENT COUNCIL MEMBERS ANNOUNCED: We would
like to congratulate the newly elected 18-19 Student Council members: President

expecting great things this year from such a great group of students!
COLLECTION ENVELOPES FOR WEDNESDAY MASS: This year we are asking each student to bring in a bag of change from home to keep at school. On Tuesday afternoons
the students will get their envelope ready in the classroom. This could be
something the student has earned himself/herself (best) or loose change
provided by the parent. If you have not already done so, please send in your
child’s money in a marked container or bag. Thank you for your help!
EMERGENCY DRILLS: We will be conducting
emergency drills over the next several weeks, continuing with the earthquake
drill next week. Classroom teachers discuss these drills with students
beforehand, but it may be a good idea to discuss these at home with your
younger children ahead of time.
HEALTH SCREENINGS: Miller County Health nurses
will be here on September 21st to screen the students for hearing,
vision, height, weight, to do head checks, and to review immunization records. WE ARE IN NEED OF VOLUNTEERS TO ASSIST THAT
MORNING – PLEASE CALL THE SCHOOL OFFICE IF YOU WOULD BE ABLE TO HELP OUT.
Thank you!
GERBES:
OLOS is enrolled in the Gerbes “Community Rewards” program. This program
offers money back to our school, based on enrolled customer’s spending. It is a
really easy process. You just tie your Gerbes shopper’s card to our school
account. If you don’t have a Gerbes shopper’s card, it takes less than a minute
to get one at the store and also online. All the information needed to complete
this process is online. @ www.gerbes.com/communityrewards.
Our school code is 48253. It takes
just a couple minutes so get all your family and friends to register as well!
The school will receive quarterly payments in cash form. We will update you as
we receive those funds. This has the potential to be a huge moneymaker for the
school – the key is to get many, many people involved. Please pass the word to
family and friends and thanks for supporting OLOS School !!! FYI – we recently received $37.84 with only
five families participating. Just think what we could do if all our
families and friends who shop at Gerbes anyway took the time to link their
spending to our school. It’s as easy as that!
COMMUNITY TEA! As part of their religious
education and Christian service the 7th & 8th grade
at Our Lady of the Snows will be hosting a breakfast tea on September 24th
at 8:00 in the cafeteria center. All members of the community are welcome to
come. Please join us!
