WE STILL HAVE APPROXIMATELY 125 TICKETS OUT AS UNSOLD OR UNACCOUNTED FOR. IF YOU KNOW OF ANYONE WHO WOULD LIKE TO BUY A TICKET, PLEASE CALL THE OFFICE TO GET A TICKET(S) SENT HOME TO YOU. THANK YOU!

PROGRESS REPORTS: Last week you received your child’s midterm report or a sign-off sheet. Students in Grades K-2 receive a mid-term report and students’ reports in Grades 3-8 are to be viewed online at www.optionc.com, with our school code – 8085 – and your individual username and password. If you have not already done so, please sign & return the report/form on Monday. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the classroom teacher.

DADS TAKE NOTE! Mark your calendar now for the morning of October 17th, when we will gather for Mass, enjoy “donuts with dad”, and have some fun! (If dad can’t make it, grandpa or any other special person may join your child.)

VOLLEYBALL NEWS: Last week, our JV team played St. Joseph, JC. They lost all three sets, with scores of 11-25, 14-25, & 17-25. As far as this week’s games, the girls won one set of three on each of the matches against Kings Academy & St. Peter, Fulton. Good effort Lady Cougars and keep on playing hard! We are proud of you!

COMMUNITY TEA: Thanks so much to all the 7th & 8th graders and their parents who sent all the delicious food and supplies for the breakfast Monday morning. Though only a few joined us from the community, the whole school was able to enjoy a small breakfast as well. What a great service project for our older students!

FIRE STATION VISITS/OCT. 11: This year, we are pleased to tell you that parents will not have to fill out field trip forms for our students to cross the street. The fire department will be bringing their equipment to US! Along with equipment, they will be bringing their new safety trailer.

HEALTH SCREENINGS: If there were any concerns pertaining to your child’s screening last week, you will find notice in today’s folder.

OLOSS “BEE” KIND CLUB: Students who were recognized for acts of kindness and generosity on 9/21 were: PK – Jace Lage – for sharing his toy at recess, K -  Ryder Lage – sharing toys at recess 1st –Alayna Wood – helping push others on swing,  2nd – Eli Eickhoff - pushing in chair for other student, 3rd – Nora Burrows – being a ref and playing fair at recess, Clarice Whittle – for helping another student tie his shoe, Lane McKenna – for following instructions so well when he was in hallway in middle of drill, 4th – Adam Schulte – for acting out an awesome joke, Avery Wood – for inviting another student to play a game with him at recess,  5th – Mikayla Eickhoff – helping pick up papers with a smile, 6th – Zachary Vandike – helping classmate clean up water spill, 7th – Aly Haeffner – bringing music to the classroom, Ayden Schulte – helping out Ms. Miranda in the PK classroom,  8th – Matthew Beck – making us laugh. All acts of kindness “bees” are displayed in the school cafeteria. (Note – the first student listed in each grade is kindness noted by the classroom teacher. If any additional are listed, they have been noted by other members of the staff.) Great job, students!

CEMETERY LIGHTS: Like last year, the school children will be placing the lights (tea lights) on all the stone markers in the cemetery on the eve of All Saints (Halloween), to stay lit through All Souls. This goes back to a tradition originating in Germany where people lit candles and placed them on the graves of their loved ones, letting them burn throughout the night before All Saints, representing the “light of the holy souls”. We do this entirely through donated funds. This is a great way to honor those you love who have passed away. Any donation is needed and appreciated. You may send your donation to school in an envelope marked “Cemetery Lights”, or place in the Sunday collection. Thanks for any help you can give to this project. (Last year, if you saw this on the night of Halloween, you know what a spectacular sight it was. We received many positive comments from the community!)

HOME & SCHOOL MEETING: The first Home & School meeting will be Tuesday, October 23rd at 6:30. Fr. Alex wishes to address ALL SCHOOL PARENTS at the first H & S meeting. Please make plans now to attend this mandatory meeting.

GERBES:  OLOS is enrolled in the Gerbes “Community Rewards” program. This program offers money back to our school, based on enrolled customer’s spending. It is a really easy process. You just tie your Gerbes shopper’s card to our school account. If you don’t have a Gerbes shopper’s card, it takes less than a minute to get one at the store and also online. All the information needed to complete this process is online. @ www.gerbes.com/communityrewards. Our school code is 48253. It takes just a couple minutes so get all your family and friends to register as well! The school will receive quarterly payments in cash form. We will update you as we receive those funds. This has the potential to be a huge moneymaker for the school – the key is to get many, many people involved. Please pass the word to family and friends and thanks for supporting OLOS School!!!  FYI – we recently received $37.84 with only five families participating. Just think what we could do if all our families and friends who shop at Gerbes anyway took the time to link their spending to our school. It’s as easy as that!
