ENROLLMENT FORMS for the 2017-18 school year
were sent home last week. If we did not receive a response from you, we are
enclosing another in today’s folder. Please fill out & return as soon as
possible. We make staffing decisions and book orders based on response so it is
extremely important to return these to school promptly. Preschool slots are
filled on a first come, first served basis as well. Thank you!
SCRIP: We have several SCRIP cards still in stock.
(Wal-Mart, Cenex, Longhorn, Applebees, Outback, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell,
Schulte’s, etc..). They are available in the church office during the week or
contact Brittany Goetz @ 573-291-8246 to get the cards over the weekend.
SCRIP MEETING: There will be a Scrip meeting
on Tuesday night (March 7th) at 6:45 in the annex meeting room. We
could really use the help with this program.
FANTASY NIGHT MEETING: There will be a
Fantasy Night meeting on Tuesday evening at 6:00 pm in the computer lab. All
are invited and encouraged to attend.
ITALIAN FEAST: The Italian Feast financial
statement may be found on the reverse. This was a very successful fundraiser,
as you will see! Thanks to all!
FREEZER/FREEZER SPACE NEEDED: If you have a
freezer that you no longer use, or have an open freezer, we need your help. The
school lunch program has an opportunity to receive extra frozen commodities in
April, because the monthly open order program is ending. This program cut will
greatly affect how our lunch program performs, due to the fact that our free
commodities will be cut at least by half (a loss of $2500-$3500 per year!).
However, we do have this one-time opportunity to stock-pile commodities as they
phase out the monthly ordering program. If we can come up with a freezer, or
freezer space, we can take greater advantage, due to the fact that meat is the
frozen commodity that we most need. If you have a freezer to donate, or have an
empty freezer for storage, please contact Carla or Rosie. We would need to know
by the end of the week (March 10) because the order form is due shortly
thereafter. Thank you!
CRS RICE BOWL: The
Rice Bowl you received last week can be utilized as a Lenten tool to devote our
prayers, fasting, and almsgiving to transform the lives of those most in need. There
is a Lenten calendar inside, videos available, and also an app to get Lenten
inspiration right on your phone. You will find information about all these
things inside the Bowl. PRAYER. FAST. GIVE.
MORE HELP NEEDED! GRADUATION HELP:
Traditionally, the 7th grade families sponsor and host the 8th
grade graduation reception. We are looking for parents to take charge of
organizing this. We have a checklist in the office as a reference for your use.
Please contact Rosie with your offer to help out. So far, Missy Evers has
volunteered to help out.
SCIENCE
FAIR NEWS: The boards for your child’s science fair project
(required for grades 5-8) are being provided to your child at school at no
cost. The date for our local fair has
been set for Tuesday, March 14th. The Diocesan Science Fair is scheduled for
Friday, March 31st at Taos, for the three entries that will go on to
compete there. Remember – your child’s entry must be in one of three categories
– life science, physical science, or earth science. As you know, students will
be working on their entries in class, but some work at home will be required.
If your child wishes to use any colored ink on their exhibits, work will have
to be printed at home, due to the fact that the school does not have colored
printers.
STATIONS
OF THE CROSS: Each Friday during Lent, the students will be
attending Stations at 2:15. If you (or grandparents) are attending, and would
like to leave from church with your child, please send a note so that they can
bring their bookbag with them to church.
