GRADE CARDS: Today you will find your child’s grade cards in this folder. Please look these over, sign, & return. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the classroom teacher.

FREEZER/FREEZER SPACE NEEDED: If you have a freezer that you no longer use, or have an open freezer, we need your help. The school lunch program has an opportunity to receive extra frozen commodities in April, because the monthly open order program is ending. This program cut will greatly affect how our lunch program performs, due to the fact that our free commodities will be cut at least by half (a loss of $2500-$3500 per year!). However, we do have this one-time opportunity to stock-pile commodities as they phase out the monthly ordering program. If we can come up with a freezer, or freezer space, we can take greater advantage, due to the fact that meat is the frozen commodity that we most need. If you have a freezer to donate, or have an empty freezer for storage, please contact Carla or Rosie. We would need to know by the end of the week (March 10) because the order form is due shortly thereafter. Thank you!

8th GRADE PICTURES: The date for 8th grade pictures has been set for Friday, April 7th, with a rainout date of Friday, April 28th. Also needed is someone to put together the traditional slide show for the graduation reception. If you or someone you know would be willing to take pictures for the group or do the slide show, please contact Rosie or Mr. V. The students usually take pictures in the morning, and then enjoy lunch together at a restaurant of their choice. Parents are welcomed to go along, as well, and/or join them for lunch.

SCIENCE FAIR NEWS: Our local fair will be this Tuesday, March 14th, beginning at 9:00 am. Students will be interviewed and present their project to the judges so should be able to tell about their project, state their hypothesis, and what they learned. Remember – your child’s entry must be in one of three categories – life science, physical science, or earth science. 6th – 8th graders must have a paper included with their entry, following the guidelines outlined in the packet sent home previously. The Diocesan Science Fair is scheduled for Friday, March 31st at Taos, for the three entries that will go on to compete there. THE SCIENCE FAIR WILL BE OPEN TO PUBLIC DISPLAY ON TUESDAY EVENING FROM 6:00 TO 7:30 PM. WE INVITE EVERYONE TO COME CHECK OUT THE HARD WORK AND GREAT IDEAS THAT OUR STUDENTS HAVE COME UP WITH. The students may take their projects home at 7:30 that evening or projects will be sent home the next day.

ATTENTION 8TH GRADE PARENTS: Freshman Orientation will take place at Cole R-V High School on April 26th, from 5:30 pm – 8:30 pm, beginning in the Performing Arts Center. We have been in contact with Luke Morris about visiting our students at OLOS, and when he sets a date with us, we will let you know. Sometimes, parents wish to be here for that meeting with the counselor.

SPELLING BEE; The Spelling Bee at St. Martin is scheduled for Tuesday, April 4th. If your child qualified (grades 4-8), you should find paperwork in today’s folder. We will need drivers for these fifteen students. Please contact the office with your offer to drive that day.

THE NEW PRESCHOOLER & NEW KINDERGARTNER INFORMATIONAL MEETINGS are scheduled for Tuesday, March 21st, from 6:30 to 7:00 pm in their respective classrooms. This is the time to find out more information about these programs, schedule kindergarten screenings with Mrs. Eickhoff, and make your child familiar with the classroom. Anyone with an interest is invited and encouraged to attend.

THANK YOU to Bryan & Noah Evers, who spent Saturday cleaning up around school, pruning bushes & tidying up.  It looks wonderful and we do so appreciate it! We are still looking for families to help with the gardening this spring and over the summer (watering & weeding). Please contact Mr. V. with your offer to help.

BEST CHOICE: We are 200 labels short of a submission of Best Choice labels. Please send any in that you may have on hand. Thanks for participating in this and the Box Tops program!

SCRIP: We have several SCRIP cards still in stock. (Wal-Mart, Cenex, Longhorn, Applebees, Outback, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, Schulte’s, etc..). They are available in the church office during the week or contact Brittany Goetz @ 573-291-8246 to get the cards over the weekend.

STATIONS OF THE CROSS: Each Friday during Lent, the students will be attending Stations at 2:15. If you (or grandparents) are attending, and would like to leave from church with your child, please send a note so that they can bring their bookbag with them to church.

CRS RICE BOWL:  The Rice Bowl you received last week can be utilized as a Lenten tool to devote our prayers, fasting, and almsgiving to transform the lives of those most in need. There is a Lenten calendar inside, videos available, and also an app to get Lenten inspiration right on your phone. You will find information about all these things inside the Bowl. PRAYER. FAST.
