CHRISTMAS PROGRAM: Thanks to all who attended,
sent in cookies, and helped with the Christmas program in any way. It was a
huge success with a great crowd in attendance. Thanks especially to Mrs. Pleus
and students for a job well done!
SANTA STORE: The Santa Store is scheduled for this Tuesday,
December 13th. Gift items are still needed. Help is also needed to set up the Santa Store on Sunday, December 11th,
after the 10:00 am Mass. Thank you for your support!
GIFT TAGS for the Santa Store were in last week’s folder.
If you have not already done so, please help your child fill these out for up
to five people they wish to shop for and return no later than this Monday,
December 12th.
PK/K PARENTS: If you are planning on
attending the 4:00 pm Christmas Eve Mass, and would like your child to be part
of the Nativity during the reading, please send a note to the office. Father
Pat would like to have some little ones act out the Nativity, much as they did
at the school program. Please contact the office if your child would like to
participate.
MAKE THE SWITCH! We will be serving the taco
soup meal (originally scheduled for Dec. 14) on Tuesday, Dec. 13, and serving
the corn dog meal on December 14th.
CHRISTMAS PARADE FLOAT NEWS:
The Eldon Christmas Parade is at 3:00 pm tomorrow,
Saturday, December 10th. Lineup is at 2:00 pm on Second Street,
behind the high school gym. There is a map of the parade route at the end of
these notes for your convenience. We have approximately 12 students signed up
to ride. PLEASE BRING CANDY TO THROW! Jay Harms is inviting all riders and
families to his home for a pre-parade hot dog luncheon at 12:00 noon. If you
would be able to join them, just give Jay a call for directions 573-746-0226.
More information may be found on our Facebook page.
The Mary’s Home Christmas Parade is
scheduled for Saturday, December 17th, after the 5:00 pm Mass. The parade begins at 6:30 pm, and the floats
will be lining up at the KC ball field around 6:00 pm. If you go to 5:00 pm
Mass, your child can still ride the float, but you may consider carpooling kids
together because it may be harder to get in with so many vehicles congregating.
So far, we have approximately 22 children riding, with several offers to
chaperone. If your child wants to ride, please send a note to the office. Also – we will need donations of candy to
throw. Please send to school office. Thanks to those who sent in already
and thank you for your support!
CHRISTMAS CLASS PARTIES are scheduled for
Wednesday, December 21, at 1:30 pm. We count on our wonderful room parents to
make our classroom parties a success. A copy of the room parent list is on the
reverse side of the Student Council flyer in today’s folder.
CHRISTMAS GIFTS: This year, students will be
exchanging gifts within the classroom. Girls should buy for girls and boys buy
for boys – with the value of the gift being $5. They will exchange their gifts
at the Christmas party on Wed., Dec. 21st. We will also have a
special visitor that morning around 9:00 am!
LUNCH
NOTICE: For students purchasing daily lunches: Students may
choose a peanut butter and jelly sandwich in lieu of the main entrée if they
have a note from home.
They must bring a note on the day that the substitution is desired and
must present it to the classroom teacher first thing in the morning.
Please note that the “main entrée” is the protein item. For example, if our
meal is vegetable soup with grilled cheese & string cheese, the substitution
would be for the cheese sandwich & string cheese, not for the vegetable
soup.
PRESCHOOL ENROLLMENT: If you are
interested in enrolling your child in preschool after Christmas, please contact
the school office as soon as possible. We have three openings available, on a
first come, first served basis. We need plenty of time before we break for
Christmas to make room adjustments and process paperwork – please no last-minute
requests!
ITALIAN FEAST NEWS: The next Italian
Feast meeting will be December 13th at 6:30 in the computer lab. We
will pack up the Santa Store during this meeting. Each student is asked to
bring in an item for their classroom basket valued at $5 or more no later than
Jan. 20th. Class basket themes are as follows:
PK – Family Fun Night
K – “Frozen” – the movie (anything to do with
movie)
1/2 – Missouri Lottery
3/4 – Camping
5/6 – Baking
7/8 – Beach Bums
CHRISTMAS SPIRIT! This week, when our Preschoolers
and Kindergartners were getting their lunch at McDonalds, an anonymous man paid
for lunch for all the students! How generous! Please pray for this anonymous person
of good cheer! The students were then able to enjoy a dessert with the money
they would have used for lunch. Any leftover parent money will be donated to a
worthy cause.
BALL SCORES! The JV Girls won their home game on Monday,
against St. Joe, Westphalia, with a score of 26-18 – a good game! The JV boys
lost their game, after good effort, against St. Peter, JC Blue, with a score of
25-32. Keep up the spirit Cougars!
BULLETIN BOARD THANKS! If you pay
attention when you’re around school, you have surely noticed our great school
bulletin board near the office. We have Stacy Schrimpf to thank for these
wonderful creations! Though Stacy no longer has a child in OLOS School, she
continues to bless us with her creative talents. Please thank her if you see
her out and about!
ARTS PEST CONTROL will give a presentation on
December 13th to students in grades 1st through 5th.
Students will actually get to sample a chocolate covered ant, if they would
like, and with their parent’s permission. YUMMY OR YUCKY – THEY WILL DECIDE!
OLOS SCHOOL IS ALSO SPONSORING A SHILOH DANCE ON JANUARY 21, 2017. Tickets will be sold at the door. Make plans now to help out and/or
attend.
PRO-LIFE ACITIVTIES: Monday, December 12 – Empty Manger
Scene & Christmas Caroling at Planned Parenthood in Columbia, 5:30 – 6:30
pm – hot chocolate, cookies, & fellowship; Wednesday, December 14 –
Nativity Scene at the Capitol and Christmas Program & Carols.
