HELIAS TRIP: The 7th & 8th graders will be visiting Helias High School this Monday morning, October 12, 2015, from 9:00 – 10:45 am, with lunch after at a local restaurant. Remember this is a normal dress code day for them, and also remember to send $ for lunch!

SCHOOL PORTRAITS:  Portraits will be taken on Tuesday,
Oct. 13th. Please return your picture envelopes on MONDAY.  If you would like to order, please fill out, make payment arrangements, and return to the office. EVEN IF YOU ARE NOT ORDERING, PLEASE FILL IN THE INFORMATION AT THE TOP IN STEP 1 & RETURN TO THE OFFICE. You will have the opportunity to order later, even if you do not choose to order now. If you have more than one child, and wish to make only one payment, please note specifically on each child’s envelope in whose envelope – and what grade - the payment is enclosed. Your child may dress up for pictures, but all length and sleeve requirements are still in force.

PRESCHOOL PARENTS/PICTURES:  If your child does not normally attend on Tuesdays, you are welcomed to talk to Marie about changing the day for this occasion, or, as an alternative, have your child here by 8:00 am for pictures. There is also a retake day scheduled for Wed., Nov. 18.

HOME & SCHOOL MEETING: THIS TUESDAY - our first Home & School meeting at 7:00 pm. Father will be presenting this meeting and strongly encourages at least one parent from all school families to attend. There will be no homework assigned that evening, and all families represented will receive a dress down pass for their students. We will begin the evening with a CARRY IN DINNER at 7:00 and have the meeting shortly afterward. We are looking for a great turnout!

PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCE assigned times are in today’s folder. If you have not signed up, please pick a remaining slot and return on Monday, and if there is conflict with your assigned time, please call the school office. THESE TIME SLOTS ARE 10 MINUTES EACH. PLEASE BE CONSIDERATE OF OTHERS BY PLANNING AHEAD IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS. IF THE ALLOTTED TIME IS NOT SUFFICIENT, PLEASE CONTACT THE CLASSROOM TEACHER FOR OTHER ARRANGEMENTS.

THAT’’S MY PAN orders are due back to school this Monday, Oct. 12. PLEASE MAKE SURE ALL ONLINE ORDERS ARE DONE BY MONDAY ALSO. Thank you for your support!

BASKETBALL; At Open House we had a sign up list for basketball. If your child is interested, and did not sign up, please send a note to the office by MONDAY. If you are unsure if they signed up, send a note anyway. This would include any girl or boy interested in basketball from 4th grade on up. We will take a closer look at team formation after the Monday deadline.

HALLOWEEN PARTIES/WALK:  Please find enclosed in today’s folder permission forms for our annual walk. Please fill these out completely and return on Monday. All students are invited and encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes for the walk, but please no scary, evil, or gory costumes. You will also find a list of room parents in today’s folder. Room parents – the teachers depend on you to plan activities and refreshments for the party. Please feel free to contact any classroom parent to help provide things needed for the party.

SANTA STORE: Yes, we know it’s not even Halloween, and we bring up Christmas! But, to have a successful Santa Store we must think ahead! If you have any new or like new items that would make good gifts, please set to the side for donation to the Santa Store. Most needed are items for dads and brothers. We will begin the collection closer to Christmas.

LET’S WIN A FREE PLAYGROUND: Together Counts is a nationwide program inspiring active and healthy living. This program offers each year, a sweepstakes for schools to win a free playground. OLOS School is signed up for this promotion and you can go online and enter each day until March 2016. It takes only a minute to sign up initially and just a few seconds each day to submit an entry. Just think how much better our chances will be if many participate each day. So tell your friends, families, and associates. Forward this address to everyone, and ask them to help OLOS School win a new playground!  If you do not wish to be contacted for any other promotions you can deselect those options. Thank you for your support!

CATHOLIC SCHOOLS’ WEEK COMMITTEE:  Catholic Schools’ Week is Jan. 31-Feb. 6, 2016. We are in need of some fresh ideas for celebrating our mission of educating our children in the Catholic faith. The theme remains, “Communities of Faith, Knowledge, & Service.” We would like to form a planning committee. If you would be interested in helping out, please contact someone in the office. So far we have the following volunteers: Stacy Schrimpf, Brittany Goetz, and Melissa Koetting.

TRASH BAGS:  We still have one case (10 rolls) of the white trash bags left. If anyone is interested in purchasing, they are $12 per roll of 65. Please send payment to the office and we will send them home with your child.

KROGER/GERBES UPDATE:  OLOS supporters (13 households) who shopped at Gerbes between 7/1/15 & 9/30/15 have earned $41.06 total donation. If you do shop at Gerbes, either routinely or occasionally, and have not signed up, you are not taking a great opportunity to support OLOS School. This is a fast, painless way to create revenue with very little effort. Please see details below.

GERBES:  OLOS has enrolled in the Gerbes “Community Rewards” program. This program offers money back to our school, based on enrolled customer’s spending. It is a really easy process. You just tie your Gerbes shopper’s card to our school account. If you don’t have a Gerbes shopper’s card, it takes less than a minute to get one at the store and also online. All the information needed to complete this process is online. @ www.gerbes.com/communityrewards. Our school code is 48253. It takes just a couple minutes so get all your family and friends to register as well! The school will receive quarterly payments in cash form. We will update you as we receive those funds. This has the potential to be a huge moneymaker for the school – the key is to get many, many people involved. Please pass the word and thanks for supporting OLOS School!!!

COOKIE DOUGH SALESOLOS School will once again be selling cookie dough. We will be doing this to accrue the funds to send all of our teachers to the NCEA conference, which will be held in St. Louis in the Spring of 2017. This is the first time in many years that the NCEA conference is so close. We will begin sales on Thursday, Nov. 5, and end sales on Monday, Nov. 16. Cookie dough will be delivered, to be picked up by the parents, on Tuesday, December 1st.

GOOD LUCK to all Fantasy Night ticket holders. Let’s all pitch in this evening and tomorrow evening to make this the most successful Fantasy Night ever! See you this weekend!
