PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCE finalized times are in today’s folder. PLEASE BE CONSIDERATE OF OTHERS BY PLANNING AHEAD IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS. IF THE ALLOTTED TIME IS NOT SUFFICIENT, PLEASE CONTACT THE CLASSROOM TEACHER FOR OTHER ARRANGEMENTS.

HALLOWEEN PARTIES/WALK:  If you haven’t yet returned your permission forms for the annual Halloween Walk, you will find a second and final copy in today’s folder. All students are invited and encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes for the walk, but please no scary, evil, or gory costumes. Room parents – the teachers depend on you to plan activities and refreshments for the party. Please feel free to contact any classroom parent to help provide things needed for the party.

BOX TOPS: Please turn in all Box Tops by the end of October. Our next shipment will be sent in on November 2nd. Thanks to all who clip & save. Thanks especially to Gina Adrian & Macy, who head up this program. We appreciate you!

SCHOOL PLAYGROUND:  Please help our students stay safe! We ask that you not drive behind the church and middle school between the hours of 6:30 am to 5:30 pm. There are cones up but some drive between them or move them. If you have to get to the hall or other places to load or unload, please stop at the barrier, and speak with someone in the school/office/after school care staff, to make us aware that a vehicle will be coming through. Thank you for your cooperation.

WELCOME LIAM JOSEPH! Trenton & Tanner Lage are proud big brothers to new little Liam, born earlier this week, weighing in at 7 lbs. 7 oz, with a length of 20 inches. Liam is the fourth son of Shannon & Josh Lage, and joins older brother Jace at home. Congratulations and may God continue to bless this happy family of six!

BIRTHDAY PARTIES/GET TOGETHERS: If your child is inviting children to a party from school, and is not including either the entire class, or all the girls, or all the boys, it is not appropriate to pass out invitations at school. To do this causes hurt feelings with some students. We know that this is not intentional, but it happens. If all are not invited (or all the girls or all the boys) then invitations must be handled outside of school. Thank you for your cooperation.

HOME & SCHOOL NEWS:  Thanks to all the parents and staff who attended the first H & S meeting. We had much good food and fellowship. Father Pat presented at the meeting, with encouragement for parents, students, and staff to plan activities to bring the school into the community and vice versa, and not work primarily as a fundraising committee. He stressed fostering an atmosphere of open engagement, in which we look out for the needs of those in our community. Fantasy Night was also discussed and we had volunteers for new officers.  Thank you to the following ladies, for volunteering for officer positions: Secretary – Gina Adrian & Vice-President – Megan Limbach, Melissa Koetting moved up to the position of President, from her role as V. P last year.

FANTASY NIGHT WINNERS:  Winners are posted at the end of these notes. We congratulate those lucky winners! We hope everyone enjoyed the evening! It was an amazingly successful event. More financial details later as bills are finalized.

SANTA STORE: Yes, we know it’s not even Halloween, and we bring up Christmas! But, to have a successful Santa Store we must think ahead! If you have any new or like new items that would make good gifts, please set to the side for donation to the Santa Store. Most needed are items for dads and brothers. We will begin the collection closer to Christmas.

LET’S WIN A FREE PLAYGROUND: Together Counts is a nationwide program inspiring active and healthy living. This program offers each year, a sweepstakes for schools to win a free playground. OLOS School is signed up for this promotion and you can go online and enter each day until March 2016. It takes only a minute to sign up initially and just a few seconds each day to submit an entry. Just think how much better our chances will be if many participate each day. So tell your friends, families, and associates. Forward this address to everyone, and ask them to help OLOS School win a new playground!  If you do not wish to be contacted for any other promotions you can deselect those options. Thank you for your support!

CATHOLIC SCHOOLS’ WEEK COMMITTEE:  Catholic Schools’ Week is Jan. 31-Feb. 6, 2016. We are in need of some fresh ideas for celebrating our mission of educating our children in the Catholic faith. The theme remains, “Communities of Faith, Knowledge, & Service.” We would like to form a planning committee. If you would be interested in helping out, please contact someone in the office. So far we have the following volunteers: Stacy Schrimpf, Brittany Goetz, Ashley Kempker, and Melissa Koetting.

TRASH BAGS:  We still have one case (10 rolls) of the white trash bags left. If anyone is interested in purchasing, they are $12 per roll of 65. Please send payment to the office and we will send them home with your child.

COOKIE DOUGH SALESOLOS School will once again be selling cookie dough. We will be doing this to accrue the funds to send all of our teachers to the NCEA conference, which will be held in St. Louis in the Spring of 2017. This is the first time in many years that the NCEA conference is so close. We will begin sales on Thursday, Nov. 5, and end sales on Monday, Nov. 16. Cookie dough will be delivered, to be picked up by the parents, on Tuesday, December 1st.

MEDICATION AT SCHOOL: We do not have a “stock supply” of medications for students. You may choose to send in a pain reliever or other types of medicine for your child. Make sure to clearly mark the container(s), and send a note giving staff permission to dispense the medication, with explicit dosage instructions and dosage cups/spoons. These will be locked up in the office. Sometimes having medicine available here for your child can mean not having to come after him/her or making a special trip to bring medications.
