EGGS NEEDED! Please send in one dozen candy-filled eggs for each of your students, to be used for our annual Easter egg hunt – which we have moved to Tuesday, April 7th (a snow make-up day).  Students in grades PK – 6th will be hunting eggs, with the 7th & 8th graders hiding them. Please no candy that would melt easily – as it could be a sunny day. Also, you may remember to throw in a couple extra treats for the 7th & 8th graders, who will be working hard to hide ALL those eggs. You can send them in at any time to the classroom teacher, in a bag, marked with your child’s name. Thank you!

GRADE CARDS: Grade cards were sent home last week. If you have not already done so, please look these over, sign, and return. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please contact the classroom teacher.

SPRING PICTURES: Many thanks to Ashley Burnett and Cindy McKenna, for volunteering to help with picture day. We couldn’t do it without you!

ST PATRICK’S DAY SOUP:  On Tuesday we had a handful of gentlemen here, enjoying the soup and fellowship. The 7th & 8th graders helped Mrs. Werdehausen host this luncheon. The men who were here really enjoyed themselves and we are so glad they shared the time with us!

OLOS PARISH PENANCE SERVICE is scheduled for Wednesday, March 25th at 7:00 pm. All families are strongly encouraged to make plans to attend this service. The second graders will be making their First Reconciliation that evening as well.  NO HOMEWORK WILL BE SENT HOME THAT EVENING. Ample time will be allowed in the classroom for any assignments.  If your child happens to bring work home that evening, consideration should be given as to how well class time is used.

FRESHMAN ORIENTATION:  Freshman Orientation at Cole
R-5 High School is scheduled for Wednesday, April 22nd, at 6:00 pm in the PAC (Performing Arts Center) and the High School gym. All incoming Freshmen and their parents need to attend this meeting.

OUR DEEPEST SYMPATHY is extended to two families this week. Our condolences to the Limbach family, on the passing of their grandpa & dad, Bill Limbach. The visitation is this evening from 3:30 pm to 8:00 pm, in the church, with the funeral Mass at 10:00 am tomorrow (Saturday). We also send our sympathy to the Koetting/Schrimpf family, on the passing of step-mother & step-grandmother, Lee Koetting. Services for Lee were earlier this week. Please pray for the Limbach and Koetting families, as they mourn the passing of their beloved family members.

8TH GRADE SLIDE SHOW:  Thank you to Stacy Schrimpf, who has once again graciously volunteered to compose the slide show for the 8th grade graduation. Each 8th grade student needs to send in eight pictures, numbered 1-8, showcasing themselves from infant to present day. The deadline for these pictures is April 13th. The 8th graders will be taking pictures at the Capitol on April 15th.  8th graders should also be thinking of five songs to use during the slide show. Songs must be submitted to Mrs. Werdehausen for approval.

BEST CHOICE UPC’S NEEDED:  We are just a couple hundred UPC’s short of our goal of 1000. For every 1000 submitted, OLOSS receives $30. Please send any in that you may have accumulated. Thanks to all who support this program!

SHOEMAN WATER PROJECTS:  For the last few years OLOSS has been participating in this project, whereby old or unwanted shoes are turned into the school and funds are generated to drill wells in Africa. Just tie or rubber band them together, throw in a bag, and send to school. Mrs. Massman will be delivering them to Jefferson City on Friday, April 10. Please see enclosed flyer for more information.

RICE BOWL:   As we get closer to Easter, we need to remember to use our Rice Bowls and calendars – as port of our Lenten plan to PRAY, FAST, and GIVE.  All offerings will be collected after Lent and forwarded to Catholic Relief Services.

GARDENING COMMITTEE:  We are asking for volunteers for the summer gardening committee. If we get enough help, families are usually assigned to two weeks during the summer to keep the watering done & to pull weeds. Please send a note to the office with your offer to help.

READING COUNTS NEWS: On Friday, May 8, 2015, the students earning 200 Reading Counts points will be enjoying a trip to Tan-Tar-A’s Timber Falls Water Park. We are departing at 8:00 am, enjoying the water park from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and returning back to school by 2:00 pm. Sack lunches, provided by the kitchen, will be enjoyed inside the park. A small portion of the $17 admission fee will be expected from the parent. The deadline for R.C. points is Thursday, April 23rd. More information will follow.

This is a major fundraiser for our school & parish, so please support it as you are able.  The tournament is scheduled for Saturday, May 16, 2015. Flyers were sent home last week, but if you need additional copies, please contact the office.

WHO COULD PASS UP a good homemade cinnamon roll?  The NCYC youth group is raising money for their trip this year to Indianapolis, Indiana, by making and selling delicious cinnamon rolls on Sunday, March 29th, in the cafeteria. Please support this very important trip for the youth of our parish. .

The PRESCHOOL & KINDERGARTEN informational meetings are scheduled for Tuesday, March 31st from 6:30 to 7:00 pm., in the respective classrooms.
