PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES are on Thursday, October 24th. Please find and fill out sign-up in today’s folder. PLEASE RETURN ON MONDAY. Remember – no grade cards will be sent home; parents must conference with the teacher.

HELIAS VISIT: On Wednesday, Oct. 16th the 7th & 8th graders will be visiting Helias High School for the morning. Afterwards, they will be enjoying lunch at El Jimador. Thanks to Patsy Bond, Tracey Backes, Steve Cebuhar, Mike Schulte, & Stacey Evers who have offered to drive. Permission forms can be found in today’s folder.  PLEASE RETURN THESE ON MONDAY.

HOME & SCHOOL FUN NIGHTS: FIRST ONE TONIGHT!!! Two nights will be offered as “fun nights” for students of OLOS. On Friday, October 11th, the PK-4th graders and parents are invited to play kick-ball in the old gym. On Friday, October 18th, the 5-8 graders and parents are invited to gather for volleyball in the new gym. Both of these events will run from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. This is not a babysitting service; we encourage you to come and play along or watch and cheer!

FANTASY NIGHT: Thanks so much to all who so willingly helped in any way for Fantasy Night. It was a great success! Congratulations to all the winners! You will find a list of winners elsewhere in this folder.  

PICTURE DAY: Students do not have to wear dress code clothing, but all length and sleeve requirements are still in place. Thanks so much to the ladies volunteering to help with pictures on Monday – Emily Schulte, Ashley Burnett, and Laura Vandike. We had several additional offers and thank you for those!

CHANGE OF DATE: Due to there being a home game on Sat., Oct 19th, we are making Friday, Oct 18th a School Spirit Day and moving the October Dress Down Day to Friday, Oct 25th. Please remember to mark this change on your calendar.

CHANGE OF LOCATION:  The younger girls’ volleyball game will be held at St. Joe, JC instead of Taos on Saturday at 12:00 am.

BASKETBALL COACH NEEDED for younger girls’ team. Please contact Mr. Vandike or someone in the office with your offer to help. Practices will begin in November. Sports packets will be sent home next week.


COLLECTION ENVELOPES FOR THURSDAY MASS: Each Thursday, the students have the opportunity to place their offering in the collection. If you need collection envelopes at home, please let us know & some will be sent home. We also have them available in the cafeteria for student use.

SOCK DAY:  On Monday, Oct. 28th, students are invited to wear their brightest Halloween socks with rolled up pants (can also just be solid black, orange, etc). If you don’t have a pair, you can usually find these at the Dollar stores. This is a dress down day.

COOKIE DOUGH:  Earlier this week, your child brought home the cookie dough fundraiser sheets. We appreciate all efforts to sell! Remember those prizes for top sellers! Orders are due to the office on or before the morning of Friday, Oct. 25th. This is a firm date, especially as related to top seller cash prizes. We will need help to sort and fill these orders the afternoon of Tuesday, Nov. 5th. If you wish to volunteer, please send a note or call the office. We usually start with sorting just after noon.

STUDENT COUNCIL MTG – We will have a Council meeting this upcoming Friday, Oct. 18th from 3:00 to 4:00 pm. Thanks so much to Missy Evers for volunteering her time & talent as a sponsor.

STUDENT COUNCIL NEWS: We will be selling Halloween suckers & candy corn guesses. Please see information in today’s folder.          

SELF STUDY: This year OLOS School will undergo a self-study. In this process, which comes up every seven years, the school reviews its facilities, policies, instruction, etc, Because it is a SELF study, that means that parents are highly involved in the process. Committees are forming now, so if you are interested, please send in your form (sent home last week) or call the office.  The self-study process must be completed by January to begin the compilation of the paperwork. The self-study visiting team (consisting of area principals) is scheduled to be here April 6-8.

CHEER COACH NEEDED – Please call the office with your offer to help.

BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION NEWS: We will be
making our semi-annual Box Tops submission at the end of October. Please send in any that you may have accumulated
LIBRARY HELP STILL NEEDED: We are in need of a library helper on Tuesdays to help Christina read to the students. Please call the office if you would like to volunteer.

4-6 GRADE VOLLEYBALL SCORES: The younger girls lost all three sets at Linn last weekend. Better luck at St. Joe tomorrow, girls!

JV VOLLEYBALL: The JV Girls won one out of three of their sets on Thursday night, for an overall loss to St. Peter’s White.

INCOME FROM GAMES: 9/28 - $115.50 Concessions, $82.00 Gate; 10/3 - $95 Concessions, $104 Gate

RADA & THAT’’S MY PAN fundraising packets will be coming home on November 1st. This will ensure that orders are received for Christmas gifting.

READING COUNTS: Remember – once your child earns the 75 point Reading Counts T-shirt, he/she may wear it at any time in lieu of their regular dress code collared shirt.

AUTO CLINGS:  Do you have an OLOS School vinyl cling on your vehicle? Perhaps you do and it’s looking a little shabby? Do you need another for a 2nd vehicle? Maybe you’re a new OLOS family and haven’t had the opportunity to get one. Now here’s your chance! Please find flyer enclosed in today’s folder with more information. These look really nice on vehicles and are a great way to show support for OLOS School!
