school day schedules, early pick-ups, etc. Thank you for your cooperation!
CHEER SIGN-UP – (Grades PK-4, boys & girls): We are forming a cheer group to represent our school at volleyball games, which will be starting soon. If you did not sign up at Open House, and are interested, please send a note in this folder or email us. To participate, students must have a current physical on file, pay the $25 sports fee, and fill out a sports packet. The uniform will be a T-shirt sponsored by Community Point Bank. Participants will need to provide their own black shorts, no shorter than 4 inches above the knee. Thanks so much to Paige Chapman & Amanda Herigon, who have volunteered to lead this team!
UPCOMING EVENTS! Along with the Parish Picnic, we have two additional events coming early September of which to take notice…
· BOOK
FAIR/HOME & SCHOOL MEETING NIGHT: Monday, Sept. 8th. The Scholastic Book Fair will be open for
purchases from 3:30 pm – 6:00 pm. We will then have a potluck dinner at 6:00
pm, followed by our meeting at 6:15 pm. We encourage all parents, especially
our new parents, to attend this meeting. It will give you good information
about our school and what’s going on in the classrooms. You will also receive a
bonus dress down pass for your child just for attending.
· GRANDPARENTS’
DAY: Wednesday, Sept. 10.
We will begin with Mass at 8:00 am, then move over to school for fellowship,
fun, photos, the Book Fair & refreshments, concluding at approximately 10:30
am. Please make sure to invite grandparents NOW so they have a heads up. We are
looking forward to having all the grandparents with us that morning!
HEALTH SCREENINGS: Tuesday, Sept. 16th. We are looking for TWO VOLUNTEERS to help with
taking height/weight and moving children through the screenings that morning.
Please contact the school office with your offer to help.
PICNIC WORK LIST: The Parish Picnic work list is available at weekend Masses & on the parish website. If you are unable to access a copy, you may call the school or parish office for assistance in finding your and/or your child’s job assignment. Students in 2nd grade on up may be listed on the work list, so please look over carefully.
FANTASY NIGHT: Fantasy Night will be held on the THIRD Saturday of October – October 18th. Tickets should be available later in the week following the picnic.
ICE CREAM SALES at the end of the last school year raised approximately $520. This money was sent along with Father Simon, on his most recent visit, for schools in his home area of Uganda. Thank you for continuing to support this fundraising effort.
SUN BUTTER/LUNCH ALTERNATIVE: Students may choose a sun butter and jelly sandwich in lieu of the main entrée if they have a note from home. They must bring a note on the day that the substitution is desired and must present it to the classroom teacher first thing in the morning. The “main entrée” is the protein item. For example, if our meal is vegetable soup with grilled cheese & string cheese, the substitution would be for the cheese sandwich & string cheese, not for the vegetable soup.
REMINDER TO PARENTS OF STUDENTS BRINGING LUNCHES FROM HOME: Please see that your child’s lunch has everything they need for their meal – drinks, plates, utensils, condiments, napkins. The lunch program cannot support the supply of these items. Thanks to families who donated some supplies – plates, cups, etc. Additional reminder – no soda or caffeinated beverages allowed to be brought in for students bringing their own lunch.
DEADLINE FOR FRIDAY NOTES: Wednesday, 9:00 am. If you have items for the Friday notes, please write these items, send them in, or email to rbeck@olosschool.org. & amberschulte@olosschool.org. All non-school related flyers need to be copied ahead of time on paper. Upon approval by the principal, the information will then be placed in the Friday folder as a courtesy.

MEDICATION AT SCHOOL: We do not have a “stock supply” of medications for students. You may choose to send in a pain reliever or other types of medicine for your child. Make sure to clearly mark the container(s), and send a note giving staff permission to dispense the medication, with explicit dosage instructions and dosage cups/spoons. These will be locked up in the office. Sometimes having medicine available here for your child can mean not having to come after him/her or making a special trip to bring medications.
Due to the short week, there will be no
newsletter next week.
Have a great weekend!
