CHANGES IN DRESS CODE FOR NEXT WEEK: Monday is Spirit Day. Students may dress down only if wearing the school sponsored spirit shirt (navy, with cougar) either from this year or previous years. This is not the royal blue community shirt. Wednesday we will celebrate Mass, as normal, so no dress down passes that day. On Thursday, students may dress down in orange/black or appropriate Halloween themed shirts, and then change in the afternoon for the Halloween Walk. On Friday, All Saints Day, a Holy Day of Obligation (meaning all Catholics are required to attend Mass), all students & staff will attend Mass, and regular school dress code will be in effect – no dress down passes. If you arrive late on Friday morning (after 7:55 am), please bring your child directly to church, as the school building will be locked.
STUDENT COUNCIL MEETING RESCHEDULED: The meeting originally scheduled for October 30th
has been rescheduled to Tuesday, October 29th until 4:15 pm.
BUSY SCHEDULE!! The Student Council meeting & Crochet Club are both scheduled for Tuesday evening. Members of the Student Council should plan on attending their meeting & then, at 4:15 pm, if they are also members of the Crochet Club, they can spend until 4:30 pm with Mrs. Hoecker.
TRUNK OR TREAT! Our Lady of the Snows School is hosting our annual "Halloween
Walk". Back by popular demand is the Trunk or Treat event
that goes along with this. We invite you to "treat" our students
on Thursday, October 31st, in the parking lot in front of the brick school
building. The students will begin our Halloween Walk at 1:30 pm, so parking/set
up is from 1:00 to 1:25 pm. Some participants dress up and/or decorate their
trunks & some don't but it's all in good fun. In case of rain, the event
will be moved to the gym. Please call or send a note to Rosie in the school
office @ 573-498-3574 if you would like to participate. Thank you!
CEMETERY LIGHTING! Everyone is invited to join the school children on Thursday for the Litany of the Saints & Lighting of the Cemetery at 9:00 am (weather permitting). Help us pray for the Holy Souls of our deceased relatives & all dearly departed.
HALLOWEEN COSTUMES: When planning costumes for your child, we ask that students not wear scary or gory costumes. No fake blood, devils, swords, weapons, etc. Keep it light and fun! Please send a bucket or bag to school with your child for trunk or treating.
HALLOWEEN WALK/PARTY PREPARATION: We ask that all parents, including preschool parents, sign in at the office. Please do not open the doors for others. All preschool parents will be escorted to the preschool classroom at 12:45 pm. All other parents (K-8) will remain in the cafeteria until 1:15 pm, before being released to the classrooms. Thank you for your cooperation.
SCHOOL-WEAR ORDERING IS OPEN! Queen Bee Graphics is now taking orders through Nov. 15th. This would be a good time to take advantage of ordering for Christmas or if you just need some school shirts, quarter-zips, or spirit shirts. The link is: https;//queenbcustomgraphics.com/snows
WELLNESS POLICY: OLOS School has a wellness policy on file in the school office that supports the health and well-being of students throughout the school day. It is available for viewing at your request.
VETERANS DAY: We will begin celebrating Veterans Day on Monday, November 11th, by dressing down in red, white, & blue or camo. On Thursday, November 14th, all active military members and veterans from the Mary's Home community are invited to a Thanksgiving luncheon, featuring turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, and all the fixings. The luncheon will begin at 10:50 am in the gymnasium and will be prepared by our wonderful cooks and hosted by our 7th & 8th grade classes. A RSVP is REQUIRED by Monday, November 4th, by calling Rosie in the school office @ 573.498.3574. Hope to see many of our vets and active military here with us that day! With everlasting gratitude, we thank you for your service to our country!
WEEKLY DRESS DOWN PASS WINNER(S)! Congratulations to Oliver H. for winning this week’s drawing! Remember – return your folder (with paperwork complete) by Tuesday to be added to the weekly drawing.
EXCITING PLAYGROUND NEWS! We have ordered new playground equipment for the younger students’ area. This new equipment is at no cost to the school and made possible through a grant.
