We also congratulate and pray for all the 2nd graders in our parish who will be receiving First Eucharist on Sunday.

SKETCH DAY: Students attended Sketch Day today at the state capitol. As of this printing, we do not have the results. We will update you next week. But for right now, regardless, we want these young artists to know how very proud we are of them!

EVERYONE BRING FLOWERS! With May being the month of Mary and Monday being our May Crowning of Mary at the grotto, we are asking all students to bring in flowers on Monday – fresh or artificial - to decorate the grotto and to set on our prayer table here at school. Thanks so much!

CHANGE OF DRESS DOWN DAYS: The school spirit day, on the calendar for May 5th, has been moved to May 10th.

Dress down days for the last three days of school:

Monday – May 8th – Field Day: Dress Down Day (may want to send a change of clothes, will be some water involved)

Tuesday, May 9th – Dress Down Day

Wednesday, May 10 – School Spirit Dress Down Day

SIXTH GRADE VOCATION DAY: Due to lack of drivers and the fact that this event is taking place in Columbia, our students will not be attending this year. So that they don’t miss out on this opportunity, coordinators assured us that these students could attend next year as 7th graders.

FISHING TRIP: Students in 2nd through 8th grades are going to Cindy & Donnie Lepper’s farm this Monday, May 1st, using equipment gained through the MDC grant. Students will be leaving school to fish after lunch. Students may bring their own poles & equipment/bait, but we do have 20 rods/reels available for student use. You may want to send sun lotion and bug spray for your child – but please, no sharing with non-family members. PARENT DRIVERS – please arrive just before 12:00 noon and wait in the parking lot behind the gym. When students are ready to leave at noon, teachers will bring them to your vehicles.

FEES/BILLS: Fees we will look at as we come up on the end of the year include but are not limited to: preschool fees, extended care fees, lunch fees, out-of-parish tuition, unreturned or damaged books, unserved service hour charges, etc, Final grade cards will be released to families who have all fees paid in full by Monday, May 8th. Final re-enrollment for the next school year is contingent upon all fees for the current year being paid in full. If you have any questions, please call the school office.

20 HOURS OF SERVICE: Parents/Guardians – have you fulfilled your 20 service hour obligation? If you have unfulfilled hours, please contact Rosie in the office – do not document in the parent portal. All unfulfilled service hours will accrue a fee of $10 per hour unserved.

MENU CHANGE: We will flip the meals for May 8th & 9th to accommodate our field day activities.

2022-23 YEARBOOK: Yearbooks for the 22-23 school year will be available in August and must be pre-ordered. Order forms were recently sent home, but if you’ve misplaced yours and still want to order, just send in $20 per copy to the school office (checks payable to OLOS).

SCHOOL SHIRT/HOODIE/SPIRIT ORDERS: Forms were recently sent home and are also available on the parish/school website. All orders received in the school office by the last day of school will be available at Open House in August.

DRIVING STUDENTS: If you drive students other than your own on a field trip, you must have VIRTUS (Protecting God’s Children) training & also must show proof of $100,000/$300,000 insurance coverage.

HIGH PRIORITY!!! VIRTUS – PROTECTING GOD’S CHILDREN: All School parents/guardians will be REQUIRED to have VIRTUS training to finalize enrollment their child in OLOS School next school year. This includes BOTH parents. This training is offered online @ virtusonline.org. You simply create and account, specify that you are with “Jefferson City Diocese” and begin the training. It usually takes a little less than two hours total, and you can save your progress and come back to it later, if needed. Thank you!
