·          On left, directly under “Grades”, click “Report Card”.

·          If you have more than one student, you can switch between grade cards in the upper middle of the screen.

SERVICE HOURS REPORT: While in your family portal for the grade cards, take the time to log in your service hours. See the report in today’s folder for more information.

HOME & SCHOOL MEETING/ARCHERY INFO! Our 3rd H & S meeting is scheduled for this upcoming Monday, January 9th at 6:00 pm, beginning with a potluck meal in the school cafeteria. We will begin the meeting at 6:15 pm with a short archery presentation & question & answer session with Andy Adrian. Please make plans to attend this meeting, as we need ALL school parents in support of our school. You will earn a “bonus” dress down pass for your child just for attending!

HOME & SCHOOL AGENDA: Items may be added to the agenda by contacting Roselyn Wood by 9:00 am Monday morning, and with the approval of Mrs. Varner. The H & S’s mission is to promote our school through family & community participation and by supporting teachers & facilitating communication.

BALLGAME NEWS: All reports were that the boys fought hard on Thursday night, but in the end did not win against St. Peter, JC. We are proud of their good spirit and sportsman- ship. Our cheer team also showed much school pride and we are so proud of them as well! Thanks to all parents for traveling to these games!

COMMUNITY SERVICE DAY: On Monday, our students will be involved in our January Community Service Day, with the theme this month on our own parish and school. Each classroom has picked a specific project in service to our parish and school – in essence, an early “spring cleaning”, doing tasks such as dusting, cleaning walls, cleaning windows, and so on. Remember, your child should come to school on Monday wearing their community “Heart” shirts (Tuesday for preschoolers) and may dress down (bottoms) adhering to all length and the no holes/fraying requirements.

I-READY TESTING: Students will take part in I-Ready testing next week. We will use the results of this test to meet the unique needs of each student.

SCHOOL CLOSING: Any emergency early dismissal or closing of the school will be announced by parent alert (text, email, voice) and through social media, as well as over area television stations. PARENTS SHOULD NOT CALL the school office during inclement weather conditions to learn if the school is closing early. This unnecessarily ties up our phone lines for emergency communications. A phone call into school during this time will delay the process of getting our communications out to all families. Please note that afternoon extended care services are NOT available in the event of early dismissal due to weather or other emergencies.

THINGS TO BE AWARE OF IN THE UPCOMING MONTHS:

·          If you drive students other than your own on a field trip, you must have VIRTUS (Protecting God’s Children) training & also must show proof of $100,000/$300,000 insurance coverage.

·          All School parents/guardians will be REQUIRED to have VIRTUS training to enroll their child in OLOS School next school year. This includes BOTH parents. This training is offered online @ virtusonline.org. You simply create and account, specify that you are with “Jefferson City Diocese” and begin the training. It usually takes a little less than two hours total, and you can save your progress and come back to it later, if needed. Set this as one of your New Year goals! Thank you!

NO SCHOOL on Monday, January 16th, in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

PROPANE THAT PAYS… Propane is projected to cost much more this winter. Ordering early can help offset some of this cost for you. This is the time of year when many people like to fill propane tanks or prepay. If you are or would like to be a customer of Capital Energy Co, please LET THEM KNOW that you are a member of OLOS parish (They cannot issue a donation on the customer’s behalf unless the customer tells them they are a member of the parish.) The parish receives a percentage for every gallon the customer buys, and usually have some of the cheaper prices in the area. Last year the parish received nearly $1000. That’s worthwhile! Thank you for your support!

YOUR CHANCE TO WIN DRESS DOWN PASSES! All families returning their 22-23 Friday folder (The Heavens Declare the Glory of the Lord) by the Tuesday of the week following, with any needed paperwork completed, will be placed in a drawing for a bonus dress down pass for students in their family. Congratulations Natalie & Charlotte for winning our last drawing!

Please return your folder on Monday.

Have a wonderful WINTER weekend!
