MRS. EICKHOFF’S RETIREMENT CELEBRATION! Mrs. Louise Eickhoff has informed us that she needs to retire for health reasons based on her doctor's recommendation.  This was effective as of September 16, 2021.  We do want to sincerely thank Mrs. Eickhoff for her twenty years of hard work and devoted service to the families and children of Our Lady of the Snows School.  We plan to celebrate her dedication and many contributions to Our Lady of the Snows School by hosting "Louise Eickhoff Day" at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, September 21!  It is also Mrs. Eickhoff's 74th birthday!  You are invited to join us at this celebration!  You may also send her cards, thank you notes, and/or best wishes in anticipation of her special day c/o Our Lady of the Snows School, 276 Hwy. H, Eugene MO 65032

STUDENT COUNCIL positions and requirements are in today's folder, grades 4-8. If your child is in grade 4th -8th and are interested, please have them look over the available positions. Remember, students, if you are wanting an officer position you need to write a speech and turn it into Mrs. Groose by Tuesday, September 21. If your child is interested in a representative position, they just need to let their teacher know.  Classes will vote Wednesday and winners will be announced next Thursday. 

 SCHOOL PICTURES are scheduled for this upcoming Thursday, September 23^rd. This is a dress up day for students. While jeans/appropriate shorts may be worn, please remember all length and sleeve requirements will be enforced – no sleeveless, and no exceptions for preschoolers. You will find an order form for each of your children in today’s folder. Please return on Monday. If you have multiple children in school, you may combine payment on a single check, but please note on all forms to which form the payment is attached.

REMINDER – NO SCHOOL Friday, September 24^th, due to teacher professional development. Teachers will be participating in developing integrated language arts across the curriculum.

THANK YOU to Keith Mueller of the Three Rivers Electric Cooperative for his presentation on Electrical Safety to our Gr. 2-8 students on Friday.

 FIRE DRILL: We will be having our first fire drill next week, and then will continue to practice other drills throughout the next months. Especially for the very young students, these drills can bring apprehension. Teachers will discuss these drills with students ahead of time, but please reinforce and reassure your child by talking about drills at home as well.

HELIAS TRIP FOR 7^TH & 8^TH GRADERS – DRIVERS NEEDED! Helias High School has invited our 7/8 graders to tour their facility on Monday, October 18^th, beginning at 8:30 am. We are asking for at least two parent drivers for this event. Please let Rosie know if you can drive that day, and your seating capacity.

CLASSROOM PARENT LIST: The tentative list is on the reverse of these notes. Each classroom has a designated Room Parent Coordinator (RPC). In looking ahead to Halloween, we are once again considering the “Trunk or Treat” event for the students’ “Halloween Walk”. Please keep posted for further updates, and if you cannot fill the position of coordinator, please let Rosie know. Thank you!

 ART ROOM NEED: Clear plastic water bottles. Please wash and send to school in bags.

 GRANDPARENTS’ DAY: Due to the high rates of Covid in the area, Grandparents Day, originally scheduled for September, will be rescheduled after the first of the year if local conditions improve.

LIFESAVING AED’S: Thank you to the Miller County Health Department for its Health and Wellness Grant that allowed us to purchase more life-saving AED equipment for our parish and school grounds. Along with the existing unit in the Church vestibule, we now have three more AED devices: one by the office in the Center, one near the restrooms in the middle school basement, and one at the entrance of the bowling alley. Thanks so much, Darryl Love, for installing these lifesaving devices and thanks to everyone who worked on this grant!

YOUR CHANCE TO WIN DRESS DOWN PASSES! All families returning their 21-22 Friday folder (The Heavens Declare the Glory of the Lord) by Tuesday, September 21, 2021, with any needed paperwork completed, will be placed in a drawing for a bonus dress down pass for students in their family. Congratulations to Nolan, Braden, Adam, & Elsie Schulte, our first winners for the year!

 NEW SCHOOL THEME: Mrs Burgess has established a new school theme for the 21-22 academic year – “Our Lady of the Snows School is the heart and soul of Mary’s Home”. Here are short essays written by5/6 graders about this year's school theme:

 

“This school is an important place, especially for children. This is where we go to learn. It truly is the heart and soul of Mary's Home. I like to learn even though some subjects are harder than others. This school helps a lot of children with things they struggle with. They might have problems with Math or Reading. It could be anything. OLOS is here to educate kids. The school provides children with the privilege to learn about Jesus. It's a faith-filled experience for kids. The teachers here are very nice! Mary's Home is lucky to have this Catholic school."

“I think that this means that it is right in the middle of Mary's Home.  It is like that the school is the main part of Mary's Home.  I think that the church and the school should be the most popular and important thing in town.  In the church you hear about God, and then you learn about God at OLOS school.  That is what it means to me."

OLOS is the heart and soul of Mary’s Home. We are in the very center of the town of Mary’s Home. It is our duty and responsibility to keep this town alive and in the Catholic faith. We should help others as much as we can. Mary’s Home is HOME, my church, my school. I love this place very much and I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
