PROGRESS REPORTS: Today in this folder you will find your child’s midterm
report or a sign-off sheet. Students in Grades K-2 receive a mid-term report and
students’ reports in Grades 3-8 are to be viewed online at www.optionc.com, with our school code – 8085
– and your individual username and password. Please sign & return the
enclosed report/form on Monday. As always, if you have any questions or
concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the classroom teacher.
ROOM PARENTS/VALENTINES: Room parents – we rely on you to plan for
games & refreshments for our classroom parties. Valentine’s parties are
scheduled for this Thursday, Feb. 14th at 1:45 pm. Thanks for all
your help! A list of room parents may be found at the end of these notes.
THE SCHOOL FUNDRAISING DANCE is tomorrow, Feb. 9th. A copy of
the work list may be found at the end of these notes. Thanks to all who are
helping with this event!
BREAKFAST PLANNING MEETING: There will be a meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 19th
at 6:00 pm to begin planning the Parish Fundraising breakfast, scheduled for
Palm Sunday, Sunday, April 14th. Mark your calendar now &
plan on joining us for this meeting.
MENU CHANGE: This Tuesday, Feb. 12th, we will
have the cheeseburger meal, originally scheduled for Feb. 5th,
instead of the spaghetti meal listed.
WEBSITE: Our website is now working correctly. It took a little bit to get to the root
of the problem, but apparently the sub host of the site was experiencing
problems. Thank you for your patience in the time it took to get this problem
remedied.
WARM THANKS! The students and staff enjoyed an extra
treat on a very cold, rainy, Wednesday morning this week, enjoying hot
chocolate & milk bars after Mass in the cafeteria. Thanks to Prairie Farms
& Tracey Backes for the donation of the milk bars. Much appreciated!
GUN RAFFLE WINNERS: January winners are –
Kelly Otto (#170) –
who won the Walther PK .380; and Brad Rackers (#487) – who won the Ruger
American Rifle, caliber TBD. Congratulations to both of these lucky winners. It
is not too late to get into these monthly drawings – still 22 left! More details
below.

tickets are available for purchase at the school office or Mary’s Home Bank. If
you need tickets to sell, you may also contact Josh Vandike, Greg Koetting, or
Jay Harms.
LEFTOVER DESSERTS from the
Italian Feast were donated to the Rape & Abuse Crisis Center & Halo
House in JC. The sheet pans of cheese cake were served during lunchtime to the
students.
WINE FOR SALE: We have a few bottles of
Shawnee Bluff wine leftover from the Italian Feast. The price has been lowered
to $12/bottle (from $15). We have 4 bottles of sweet white – “Sweet Speakeasy”,
and 5 bottles of sweet red – “I’m a Sweetie Too”. These would make great Valentine’s
gifts! Contact Rosie in the office if you would like to purchase any.
A CLOSE ONE! High fives to the 4/5/6
boys basketball team, for such a close game last Saturday against. St. Stan.
The final score was 20-21 in overtime, with a loss, but we are definitely proud
of them for a nail-biting game!
DUE TO THE SNOWDAY ON THURSDAY, FEB. 7TH, SCHOOL
WILL BE IN SESSION ON MONDAY, FEB. 18TH, PRESIDENTS’ DAY.
PRESCHOOL SIGN-UP 2019-2020: If you are interested in reserving a spot for your
preschooler for the next school year, please contact Rosie in the school
office. Preschool is offered daily and preference is given to families of our
parish, with full-time given preference over part-time (3 days/wk). However, we
usually are able to accommodate whomever has an interest. And, as always, if
you have any questions, do not hesitate to call or drop in.
OLOSS “BEE” KIND CLUB: Students who were
recognized for acts of kindness and generosity on Feb. 8th were: PK
– Elsie Schulte – sharing her ball with a friend, Henry Doerhoff & Vivian
Pringer – great help at recess with balls, K – Brena
Groose – sharing toys at recess, Oliver Hagenhoff – sharing his toys at recess,
1st – Abby Eickhoff – sharing markers with others, 2nd – Eli Eickhoff – being a good
example in church, 3rd – Shane Beck – going out of his way to play
with others at recess, 4th – Trenton Lage – for seeing the beauty in
others, , 5th – Nolan Schulte – helping another student with their work and
always having something kind to say, 6th – Deanna Backes o- opening the door
for everyone at church and always volunteering to help when needed, 7th –Aly Haeffner – helping to
decorate the hallway for Valentine’s Day, 8th – Grace Groose – helping decorate
the room for Chinese New Year. Mrs. Werdehausen & the Student Council – for
decorating the schools so nice for Valentine’s Day. All acts of kindness “bees” are displayed in
the school cafeteria. (Note – the first student listed in each grade is
kindness noted by the classroom teacher. If any additional are listed, they have
been noted by other members of the staff.) Great job, students!
