PROGRESS REPORTS/SIGN OFF SLIPS were sent
home last week. If you have not already done so, please sign & return. If
reports/slips are not returned the classroom teacher will be in contact.
GRADUATION HELP: Traditionally, the 7th
grade families sponsor and host the 8th grade graduation reception.
We are looking for one or two parents to take charge of organizing this. We
have a checklist in the office as a reference for your use. Please contact
Rosie with your offer to help out. Thank you!
SCIENCE
FAIR NEWS: The boards for your child’s science fair project
(required for grades 5-8) are being provided to your child at school at no
cost. The date for our local fair has yet to be set, but will be in mid-March,
depending on when we can get judges. The Diocesan Science Fair is scheduled for
Friday, March 31st, for the three entries that will go on to compete
there. Remember – your child’s entry must be in one of three categories – life
science, physical science, or earth science. As you know, students will be
working on their entries in class, but some work at home will be required. If
your child wishes to use any colored ink on their exhibits, work will have to
be printed at home, due to the fact that the school does not have colored
printers.
VALENTINE’S
PARTIES: Thanks to all room parents and to those who
sent snacks and games for the parties – it sure was “sweet”!
SIX
FLAGS: K-6th grade Six Flags reading logs are
due back to the classroom by 2/17 (Friday). Tickets will come in at the end of
the year, and distributed at the Awards ceremony.
BALL
SCORES: We are proud to let everyone know that the JV Boys
won their game against St. Peter White on Tuesday night, in the Catholic Bowl,
with a final score of 42-35. They received a bye in their first round, so will play
in the championship game at 1:15 pm on Sunday at Helias. Everyone come out and
support our boys on Sunday!!! The JV girls went into overtime at their Catholic
Bowl game on Tuesday night, tied at 22, against St. Peter, but unfortunately lost
in overtime play, with a final score of 22-29. On Thursday night we had three
home games. The girls fought hard against IC, JC, in their first game, but lost
by a close score of 25-29, and also lost to St. Joe, Westphalia in their second
game, with another good score of 15-21. The boys played St. Peter, leading the
game, but it came down to a nail biter at the end, pulling off the win – final score
39-38. Way to go boys! So this ends our regular season play for our two teams.
We are very proud of our Cougars! Good luck to the boys this weekend!
