Friday Newsletter 3-23-16

THE WEEK AHEAD:
Mon  - NO SCHOOL – EASTER MONDAY

Wed –  3/4 Field Trip to State Capitol/Governors Gardens, Mo. River Bridge, Landing, McKay Park & Culvers

NEXT WEEK we will be in session only two days. Along with being off for Easter on Monday & Tuesday, we will be off next Friday, April 1st, for teacher workshops. The 3rd & 4th have a fun field trip planned on Wednesday (March 30), doing activities around the Capitol.  Due to the short week, we will not be publishing the weekly newsletter next week. We will, however, send the folders home with the April lunch & activities calendar, along with any other pertinent information.

LOOKING TO THE WEEK OF APRIL 4TH:
·          We will begin the week with the 5th & 6th field trip on Monday, to Warm Springs Ranch in Boonville to see the Clydesdale farm and on to Columbia for a visit to Columbia College. Remember to bring along money for the gift shop (if desired), and your lunch and drink if you are packing a lunch from home.
·          Kindergarten Testing will be during the day, by the hour, on Monday & Tuesday (April 4,5). Mrs. Werdehausen will be subbing in Mrs. Eickhoff’s room so that Mrs. Eickhoff can administer the skills test.
·          8th grade pictures are scheduled tentatively for Friday, April 8th, with an alternate date of April 15th. This will be a full day of picture taking, going out to eat, etc. for the five 8th graders. 8th grade parents are welcome to go along. If you would be able to drive or want to go along, please contact the office by Wednesday, March 30, when we come back from Easter break. Stacy Schrimpf has volunteered to take the pictures, but if any other parent wants to help out, please feel free. Permission forms will be sent home next Thursday.

RICE BOWLS: Rice Bowls can be turned in after Easter either to the school office or can be left in the main vestibule of church. Thank you for supporting Catholic Relief Services!

OLOS SCHOOL will be updating our SCHOOL WELLNESS POLICY this spring. Anyone interested in helping with this process, please call the school office. Thank you!

SPELLING BEE: The annual Spelling Bee is set for Tuesday, April 12th at St. Martin The tentative schedule is as follows:
TIME: 8:45 A M to around 2:00 P M
PLACE: St. Martin Catholic School

8:45-9:00 Registration
9:00-9:10 Opening remarks
9:10-10:00 4th Grade Competition

10:50- 11:40 -6th Grade Competition
11:40-12:10 Lunch
12:15- 1:05 -7th Grade Competition
1:05-1:55 - 8th Grade Competition
2:00-2:15 Award Presentation

READING COUNTS ends Friday, April 22nd. This will be the last day for points. Your child must have 200 points to attend the R. C. field trip at the end of the year. Plans are being made now for this trip and more details will be provided as soon as possible. Tentative date for this trip is Friday, May 6th.

LAST DAY OF SCHOOL: The tentative last day of school is set for Wednesday, May 18th, dismissing at 12:00 noon, with the Awards ceremony set for 9:30 am. THERE WILL NO EXTENDED CARE SERVICES AVAILABLE THAT AFTERNOON.
