CATHOLIC
SCHOOLS WEEK: This week we will be
enjoying and celebrating Catholic Schools Week with the theme, “Communities of
Faith, Knowledge, & Service. Please pray for the students and teachers, all
school families, and the community and parish who support our wonderful school.
We are so very proud of Our Lady of the Snows School !
CATHOLIC
SCHOOLS WEEK UPDATE: There have been some schedule modifications made to
the CSW outline sent home last week. Please see revised schedule, enclosed.
Also, please send in your grocery/supply
item(s) on MONDAY, as we will begin preparations for the Senior Dinner we
will be serving at the school on Wednesday. Please note that the weekday all
school Mass will be on Wednesday of this week. Ministry assignments for this
weekend’s Masses are in today’s folder. If your child has a part in Mass,
please make sure they dress in Sunday best/dress code.
SCIENCE
FAIR: OLOS
Science Fair will be held Thursday, Feb. 12th. Students in grades
3-8 are required to do a project (experiment) at home for this, and it will be
part of their science grade. Students in 6th through 8th
grade are required to submit a paper with their project and are eligible to
participate in the diocesan science fair and should make their project in one
of the three categories of Life,
Physical, or Earth science. We highly encourage all students to work
individually; however, if two students work together they must be in the same
grade. Students in younger grades may also enter a project in the fair if they
so wish. Guideline information was sent from the classroom teacher. Boards
available at a cost of $4 per board. Sent payment through the office. (Checks payable to OLOS.)
SHILOH
DANCE: The Shiloh dance
profit was $2952. What a wonderful turnout! This money will go to supplement
the school lunch program. Many, many thanks to all who helped with and
supported this fundraising event!
8TH GRADE RETREAT: The 8th grade retreat is scheduled
for Thursday, Feb. 19th at Folk, MO. We are in need of
drivers/chaperones for the ten eighth graders. The cost of the retreat is $7
per student. Please send payment into the office in a marked envelope (checks
made payable to OLOSS). We must have all payments and driver offers by Feb. 4th.
Please call or send to the office a note with your offer to drive. Students
will depart from OLOS around 7:30 am and probably return sometime shortly after
3:00 pm.
ITALIAN FEAST: Please keep trying to sell those tickets for
our Italian Feast on Feb. 7th. All money and unsold tickets need to
be turned back into the school office no later than THIS MONDAY, Jan. 26th. If you need more tickets, please contact the
office. Reminder to families – please send in $5 per child for the classroom
baskets (or Mizzou/Cardinals items). Additionally, each family is asked to
donate one item of value to place directly on the auction. You can either
purchase items or get items donated from local businesses or friends. If
you know of someone in direct sales such as Pampered Chef, Tastefully Simple
etc, this is a great way for them to gain a new customer. Ask them for a
donation and be sure to include their business card or catalog. Families
may also go together and purchase a bigger item for the auction as well. Please
send all money and items into the office. Thank you for your support!
LADIES TEA: All ladies of the community are invited to an
“Afternoon Tea” with Mrs. Werdehausen and company at 12:30 pm on Friday,
February 13th, in honor of Valentine’s Day. Mothers, grandmothers,
and all ladies of the community are invited. Please pass the word to relatives
and friends!
VALENTINE’S DAY DANCE: The 5th through 8th
grade will enjoy a Valentine’s dance in the cafeteria the afternoon of Friday,
the 13thof February as well.

LUNCH
NOTICE: For students purchasing daily lunches: Students may
choose a peanut butter and jelly sandwich in lieu of the main entrée if they
have a note from home. They must bring a note on the day that the
substitution is desired and must present it to the classroom teacher first
thing in the morning. Please note that the “main entrée” is the protein item.
For example, if our meal is vegetable soup with grilled cheese & string
cheese, the substitution would be for the cheese sandwich & string cheese,
not for the vegetable soup.

DEADLINE
FOR FRIDAY NOTES:
Thursdays, 9:00 am. All non-school related flyers
need to be copied ahead of time on paper (the school cannot afford to supply
paper for outside events). Upon approval
by the principal, the information will then be placed in the Friday folder
as a courtesy. It is not appropriate for the school to send out extraneous
information that can be handled other ways. Also, if you have items for the
Friday notes, please write these items up, send them in, or email them to rosie@radiowire.net (call to let me know
you have emailed please). I don’t mind doing a little editing and rewording,
but the bulk of the item should be outlined with details.
