Five gift tags for each child should be found in today’s’ folder. Please have or help your child fill these out and return on Monday. We are still in need of donations of any kind, but most especially “dad” gifts, and brother/sister gifts. You can send those items in at any time. Also, we will need some helper elves to wrap gifts and help the students with shopping. Debbie Schulte, Dianne Brenneke & Wendy Whittle have volunteered to help out. If you are able to be here that day, please contact someone in the office.

SNOW DAY MAKE-UP: Due to the recent snow day, school WILL be in session on Monday, January 19, 2015.

SCHOOL SPIRIT DAY REMINDER:  You may only dress down if you wear the official school spirit shirt on these designated days. All length requirements are still in force. Spirit Day is Thursday, Dec. 18, in conjunction with the JV girls’ home games.

SERVERS: If your child is interested in serving Mass, and is nervous or unsure, we can schedule them to serve for the weekday all school Mass, which is a good time to learn. Please contact Mrs. Werdehausen if your child would like to take this opportunity.

CLARIFICATION ON SNOW DAY CANCELLATIONS:  We are following Eugene snow day cancellation this year. But, OLOS School families will still get parent alerts and cancellations will still be posted on the three local TV stations – Channels 8, 13 & 17.  Additionally, there may be times when we have to cancel school when Cole R-V does not because of parking lot conditions.  If you, or someone you know, would be willing to clear snow from the lots to help alleviate this problem, please contact Mrs. Werdehausen.

EXTENDED CARE SERVICES: In the event of inclement weather, or early dismissal due to unforeseen circumstances, there will be NO EXTENDED CARE SERVICES available. All students should be picked up at the dismissal time which would be announced with the dismissal notification. On regularly scheduled half days off (listed on school calendar), extended care is available from 12:00 – 5:30 pm.
OUTDOOR CLASSROOM: Still needed:  wind sock, concrete statuary, and a sundial. If you would like to donate, please send to the office.

LUNCH NOTICE: For students purchasing daily lunches: Students may choose a peanut butter and jelly sandwich in lieu of the main entrée if they have a note from home. They must bring a note on the day that the substitution is desired and must present it to the classroom teacher first thing in the morning. Please note that the “main entrée” is the protein item. For example, if our meal is vegetable soup with grilled cheese & string cheese, the substitution would be for the cheese sandwich & string cheese, not for the vegetable soup.

SPORTS UPDATE: The 4/6 grades boys lost a close game to St. Stan. last Saturday, and the JV boys and girls both lost their home games last week. In the High Point tournament the JV boys WON their first game to Latham on Monday night (41-24) and lost to High Point on Tuesday night (16-47). They will play again on Saturday at High Point. In this same tournament the JV girls lost their first game to High Point (10-40), and will play again on Friday night (7:00 pm), and then again on Saturday (times TBA).

COLLARED SHIRTS:  Part of the dress code is that students are expected to wear shirts WITH A COLLAR.  Failure to abide by this rule will result in LOSS OF DRESS DOWN PRIVILEGES FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE YEAR.

SHILOH DANCE: Please find enclosed the flyer to post. Try to get the word out because this has the potential to be a huge fundraiser, with not too much work. PLEASE NOTE – THIS DANCE IS OPEN TO ONLY THOSE 21 AND OVER.

LUNCH BILL: We billed a little early this month (usually on the 15th) due to next week being our last days in session before Christmas. If you have a balance due, you should find a notice in today’s folder.

SNOW DAYS & LUNCHES:  If we call school due to inclement weather, please be advised that the menu may change without notice.
