HIGH FIVES to the three students nominated and accepted into
the Aquinas Academy this summer. We
recognize Cody Schulte, Andrew Schulte,
and Cameron Haeffner for their
accomplishments. Nomination into this Academy is based on achievement test
scores, grades, Christian conduct, maturity, and service. We are very proud of
all three of these boys!
MORE HIGH FIVES to the students participating in the Diocesan
Speech Meet last weekend. Rachel
Buechter, Kalie Massman, and Dakota
Graham all received BLUE RIBBONS! Congratulations, girls!
READING COUNTS FIELD TRIP UPDATE: If your child will be
wearing a bikini, they will need to wear a T-shirt over it for the entire day
at the water park. More information on field trip further in the notes.
SOCCER/MOVE NIGHT:
Mrs. Werdehausen will be hosting a soccer & movie night on Monday,
April 28th, as an end-of-year school event. She will be asking the
older students to help out. We will
player soccer from 6:00 to 7:00 pm, and then watch a movie (outdoors – weather
permitting) from 7:00 to approximately 8:30 pm. Families are asked to provide
their own snacks and drinks for this event. If it rains, we will move into the
gym. Make plans now to attend as this is just a little over a week away!
LUNCH BILLING: We printed the last lunch billing for the year
today. If you received a bill in this folder, please pay as soon as possible.
If you did not, then your child’s lunches are paid up to the end of the current
school year. Thank you for prompt payment!
HOME & SCHOOL MEETING & POTLUCK: We
will be enjoying our last H & S meeting on Tuesday, April 29th
with a carry in potluck dinner. We will begin at 6:30 pm. All attending will
receive a bonus dress down pass for their child/ren. Hope to see you all there!
PENNIES FOR PATIENTS: After
Easter, OLOS students will begin the Pennies for Patients campaign. This is
intended to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Please send in
with your child any spare change or donation you are able to make. This
campaign will extend through May 9th. One thing is true at OLOS –
you never have to wonder what to do with your spare change!!!
GARDENING
HELP: It’s time
again to be thinking of summer care for our flowers and plants on the school
grounds. Each year we ask families to volunteer to do weekly watering and
weeding around the two school buildings. If we get enough, most families would
only have to take one week. Please send a note/email/call to the office with
your offer to help out with this – no green thumb needed!
EXTENDED CARE SERVICES (before and after
school) will be available on May 15th, the final day of school.
GUIDELINES FOR GRADUATION DRESS: Boys – dress pants,
collared shirt, dress shoes, tie is optional; Girls – dresses, no more than 2
inches above the knee, no spaghetti straps showing (may wear shawl to cover).
Students will be wearing cap/gown for graduation and awards ceremony.
THE READING
COUNTS DEADLINE is Friday, April 25th. If
your child reaches 200 points by April 25th, he/she qualifies to
attend the Reading Counts field trip, which is scheduled for Thursday, May 8th
at Tan-Tar-A Waterpark. The Fundraising Committee designated profits from the
two breakfasts this year to go towards this trip. We are proud to say that with
the approximately $1575 made from these two events, the cost for the bus
(approx. $400), and the majority of the ticket costs will be covered. Parents
will probably be expected to pay $5-6 per child (full price of tickets is $17).
Parents are welcome to attend and gain entrance for $5, or are charged $17 if
swimming. No siblings are allowed on this trip. Additionally, for every
25 points over 200, your child gets a ticket, to be placed in a drawing for a
prize. If your child does not qualify to attend the trip, he/she will stay at
school as a normal day of school and will be held responsible for all
assignments.
RICE BOWL: Rice Bowls can be turned in to the office any time
this week or can be taken directly to the church through Holy Week and Easter.
Thank you so much to all who participated.
QUILT RAFFLE: Alma
Koetting donated a quilt to use as a fundraiser for the school wherever it is
most needed. If you would like to buy raffle tickets or want to sell any,
please contact the office and we will send you some booklets. They are $1 each
or 6 for $5. This is an OPTIONAL fundraiser. The quilt is queen sized and the
colors are blue & rose. It is BEAUTIFUL! Thank you so much Alma !!! COLOR
